you'd be surprised how long the right pair of sticks can last under strenuous use with controlled strikes.
Not necessarily drums sticks are pretty durable but when you start beating the shit out of them when you doing like a drum line against others or something that’s when their gonna break I’ve seen that happen back in high school these guys were doing a drum off on one of those practice drum pads and one of them accidentally broke one of his drum sticks mid drum line and he was beating the absolute piss out of those sticks and it flew everywhere almost hitting me and some other guys that were watching them drum, and when we looked at the drum stick it broke in half.
