A mini bio on the life and career of actor Jackie Coogan. In addition to be a child star appearing with Charlie Chaplin, he also portrayed Uncle Fester on "The Addams Family" sitcom in the 1960's. - Развлечения
He was friends with Al Lewis and Fred Gwynne and would often come to the set of The Munsters to visit and have lunch with them at the CBS commissary.
Didn't know this but it figures 🤓😎✌🏼
Especially since the shows were rivals 🤓😎✌🏼
Jackie also loved Chaplin too and was there the night Chaplain got his honorary Oscar. You can see it here on RUclips and when they show Jackie in the audience you can see how emotional he is.
Nice to hear they were not rivals off camera
I loved him in The Adams Family. He was a cute kid, too.
Can you imagine making that kind of money that would have lasted him for the rest of his life and finding out your own mother spent it all??? Im glad you're here so often Steve. Thank you!
Uncle fester and lerch were a great pair, and part of the family.
Thanks for telling his story. Terrible what his mother did.
Jackie Coogan was the most popular child actor of the 1920s. His brother Robert Coogan, who was 10 years younger than Jackie, was in a few movies, including "Skippy" with Jackie Cooper.
Oh wow! I never knew all that about him!Especially his WW2 service!Great video.
Unfortunately the"COOGAN LAW" is only applicable in California.
@@user-xy6el5yj6cThat should include all states!
Yes he was married to Miss Betty! Nice people! RIP 🥀🌠
Loved when he would lock his head in a vice to relieve a headache on Adams Family. Annnd pop!
He was a hoot!
Thanks for sharing. Coogan's law protected many child actors .
Wow! I never realized Jackie's earlier work. He was quite the handsome devil. And married to Betty Grable! Cool stuff. You are doing some great work, Good Old Buddy Pal, Steve!
Oh you kid.
Everybody needs an Uncle Fester in their family.
Wow Steve, a truly amazing look into the life of a remarkable actor, and a man who served courageously during WW2. Rest in peace Mr. Coogan ✌❤
NO NEVER KNEW THAT 😢😢😢😢🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😮😮😮😮😮😮😮BEAUTIFUL
Thank you Steve! Never would have known he was so famous early on. The light bulb thing with uncle fester is hilarious!
This was a great video
I always learn from you contributions. Thanks so much 👍
So nice of you to leave a kind comment.
@TheLifeandSadEnding I totally agree! There's so much I've learned about the folks that you talk about in your videos! It's really fascinating, the things I never knew! I'm glad to learn he was a genuine hero of WW11. Thank you Steve! By the way,I'm 71 & loved watching Our Gang,& The Little Rascals!❤
So shocked to learn of his passing… His neighbor is a friend of mine, and saw Coogan two weeks ago, said he looked fine❤❤❤❤
Dear Jackie you are wonderful, thank you for your service. !!! We love you forever. !!!! ❤️🙏🎚️🙏🎚️🙏🎚️🙏❤️
Wow! He had an accomplished life. I only ever thought of him as Uncle Fester, although I was aware that he had been a child star.
Hi Steve! Thanks for sharing the information on Jackie Coogan. 👍
You bet!
You're right. I never knew of all the characters he played, movies he was in, and more. Thanks for telling us and the pictures of him when he was younger. 👍
I never knew. what a hero during the war.
Uncle Fester was the best!!!!❤
He was one of the relatively small number of celebrities who had an open-casket funeral viewing.
Wow, thanks again Steve for your content. So much good knowledge here and so much more to know of this actor from his early days, married to Betty Grable was a shock indeed! Uncle Fester married to Betty Grable!! I did recall his mother and step father spending his child actor earnings, seems like a pretty common happening to child actors especially back in his era.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I never knew he was a child actor. That's where they got the Coogan law from.
His grandson Keith Coogan appeared in movies in the 80s and 90s. He looked a lot like his grandfather.
Who would have thought that Uncle Fester was such a stud when he was younger as well as a war hero?
I never put the two of them together. I remember Jackie from the Addams Family. Thanks for the video!
You are so welcome!
Thanks Steve
Wow loved him in the Adam’s family scary j just turned 69 and I’m suffering through a stroke in February
🏆He was awesome🏆 what a 🍀great Man👀✌️
You are correct, I never knew how varied a career he had. Interesting.
He also became a famous director. He was talented man. Who never accepted that fact.
A fine actor and personality. Thanks Steve.
I didn’t know until just now watching this video.
Amazing man.
Wonderful video i enjoyed the story. God bless you 🙏
Nice work on this one!
Appreciate it!
That's Incredible! 🇺🇲💯💪👍🇺🇲
Nice, brisk, sympathetic bio
Thanks Ronald!
Thank you so much for that wonderful video I had no idea that Uncle Fester was Jackie Coogan, I also had no idea that he lived such a glorious life... thank you for enlightening all of us and God bless him❤🙏👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Other than loving him in The Addams family is Uncle Fester I love him even more now than he was a US soldier fighting for our freedom thank you for your service God bless you backwoods movie stars were giants among men Elvis Presley serving their country most of the Hollywood nowadays are pure trash
It’s a crying shame that a law had to be enacted to keep parents from screwing over their own children over money.
Jackie coolant was in the our gang aka little rascals and was friends with robert blake and others from the our gang films by Hal roach
Jackie was also a surfer, Duke Kahanamoku taught him to swim and surf.
Love your great videos!!!
Glad you like them!
Loved Jackie in the Adams Family. Such a shame his Mother and Step Father spent most of his money !! :(
for those of you who might not know, gliders didn't really " land " in the same sense as a powered aircraft. the best you could hope for with a glider was a controlled crash. for example on D--Day, 21 of 850 gliders crashed, claiming 10 % casualties. it took a lot of balls to ASK for that duty. i loved him as uncle fester and i thought the addams family was a great show. blowing up the trains still cracks me up. BTW, jackie was super cute in " the kid " and he played as big a part as chaplin did in that movie.
Thanks Mike!
Very interesting
Unfortunately the "COOGAN LAW" is only applicable in CALIFORNIA.
I didn't know that.
Not very effective anyway. Gary Coleman had to sue his parents to get his money also.
That law needs to be applied everywhere to protect children otherwise they'll just film in Arizona or Mexico.
Glad this man had two careers, what is a child star which I found about later, and everybody loved Uncle Fester still love The Addams family 2 I believe he was when they had a reunion of The Addams family was shot in color and I believe he was in it and I'm glad he was able to appear in it so was lurch not so sure about the lady who played mama everybody really knew Jackie coogan twice. 3:15
Wasn't he in The Little Rascles? He was great as Uncle Fester❤
I don't think he was in the little rascals. Thanks!
My bad. It was Jackie Cooper 🤷🏻♀️
Sorry you misspelled rascals Bonnie
3:26...the sad ending.
Uncle Fester. Omg.
Four million per year was quite the sum, especially for his era.
❤❤❤🙏🏼
Don't forget he played a drunk in John Wayne's Cahill U.S. Marshall 🤓😎✌🏼
🙏🙏
He was funny on the Addams Family. I did know he was a former child star. He was certainly an adorable kid 😍 Terrible what his mom and step dad did. Stealing his money 💰
How did he light up that lightbulb when he put it in his mouth
Betty Grable , the guy on Stalag 17 was smitten with her ,
Interesting did not know about his Carter as a child star?
Mom was evil to rip off her child
His mother manipulated his money with her "ill take care of it for you" bullshit. Taking advantage of his trust.
Just a suggestion. You should start doing more of videos of actors of color than just white actors.
Thanks Rex, maybe today.
@@TheLifeandSadEnding Thank you for responding so quickly and graciously. I enjoy the podcasts and the videos you put forth with all of the R&D and best efforts to remember those beloved celebrities.
