Years ago, and maybe still today, Singapore Customs would check your automobile gas tank when you leav; your tank would need to be 3/4 full. DOes anyone know, is it the same rule for motorbikes?

Certainly a great place for Singaporeans to visit for a way less expensive meal than they would be used to paying for at home. Also an ideal opportunity to fill up the petrol tank and save a motza. Nice video Chai. Certainly enjoyed the last interviewee the most. Great work 🤩

I live in Johor Bahru, but I haven’t been to Johor Bahru city center for many years. You can go to mount austin, sutera utama, bukit indah, eco palladium to get closer to the daily life of Johor Bahru people.

All who come here. Is come to SG and work. JB city center is a place to work. Not tourist.
Im considering visiting next year. Just afternoon stay the night. Crime statistics look relatively similar to where I live in Australia, fairly safe depending on the suburb, but take normal precautions
There not a river across Singapore but it is a straits of Johore sea. Johore have a lot of nice place to visit. Have a beautiful island, beach, shopping and food paradise.

Visitors to SE Asia should try the 2nd city tour . It will give a different experience.
So go to JB instead of KL. Then Chiang Mai instead of Bangkok. Luang Prabang in Laos. Siem Reap in Cambodia. Da Nang in Vietnam. Cebu in the Philippines. Yogyakarta in Indonesia.

Most people visit legoland and tioman island.
In essence JB is where Singaporeans shop and dine. Gasoline in Malaysia is the second cheapest in Southeast Asia. Which is why both Singaporeans and Thai's buy and often even smuggle gasoline from Malaysia 😂

The American tourist can rent a bike in East Malaysia and drive it from coast to coast. Might be too much of a hassle to ship a bike. In any case...have fun.

I think the johor tourism board need to hype up the islands off Mersing…. The view are stunning n it is Where ppl could find peace n tranquility
just arrived in Mersing today...it's trying to be a tourist destination, but the city is rather rundown and the beach is filthy.
Have you been to the islands such as Rawa, Tioman, Sibu, Pemanggil? That are places i m talking about…. Mersing is known as a departure point linking to the offshore islands. It’s a town not even a city

I’m from northern Johor district of Muar…to be honest, I just went to JB like 3 times in my life so far 😂😂😂 nothing special there actually, everything are overprice due to proximity to Singapore…I just go to Melaka or KL to shopping or food…Muar also a food haven in Johor…no need to travel 2 hours to Johor Baru to find any food 😂😂😂

Haha, I appreciate the question. I wouldn’t say better or worse but, I find it odd that Vietnamese food (other than Pho) is not more famous around the world. Also, Indonesia has so much delicious food which I should not forget to mention 🤤. I think every country has its own uniqueness. In my opinion, Vietnam and Indonesia have the most (with Malaysia and Thailand) variety of delicious food within South East Asia. Thanks for the question :D
Chai, There is the largest and most costly Chinese project in Johor (Bandar Iskandariah) that is delayed due to covid 19. You should come there because it is listed as the ten most expensive projects in the world and somewhat controversial in our society.
Most Malay restaurants seem to have similar menus, whereas Thailand has many restaurants specializing in this or that dish, prepared in unique ways. More fun to go food hunting in Thailand than Malaysia, IME. Restaurant prices in Malaysia are much more consistent than Thailand. Thailand has a far superior street food culture, better prices and variety.
Less expensive because of the exchange rate.

JB is dirty with rubbish thrown on the road because the authority (MBJB?) never install rubbish bins in the city centre.
Singaporeans come to JB to buy medicines (30-50%) cheaper, no need doctor's prescription.
Fun fact about Johor, its 3x times more bigger than Singapore, but lack for touristy spot, for local, jb is nice place to living
JB received so many tourists but the tourists were just mainly Singaporeans.
JB is 3X size of Sg but state of Johor is 26X the size.

It is but some places in the evening it can be a bit dodgy. But overall it’s very safe

As a Malaysian, I have always found Johor Bharu as the most least interesting city in Malaysia. Barely any unique attractions and looks generic.

We’re able to recycle drain water from the toilet in the Netherlands and it’s perfectly safe and tasty to drink believe it or not
and Singapore provides treated water to Johore in return😉

Littering and dumping is a big problem in Malaysia, true. Every time it rains, you see trash floating down the river.

@lanthanumkhloride8538 I live in the dirtiest town in the peninsula ,yes klang. I can say that 70% of malaysians are good people. 30% are pure litterbugs plus 99.9% of migrants
@Chai_Travel sometimes it is the people, sometimes it is the cleaning contractors. Always two sides to the story. Contractors hired do not do their work. Example in my town klang, some contractors are relatives to the municipal council staff. So if they do not work, they still get paid (everyone gets paid I mean). Because they are relatives, no action is taken on the contractors. This is the corruption you faced. Unless we take pictures and publish it on social media, they will do work.
So arrogant most of the Sg comments. Just because your currency is higher does not make Sg a better place and don't degrade other countries.
