Steve Davis is one of the greats. I hate how your videos make it seem like these guys efren plays suck and are disrespectful to efren when that's not the case at all.
Did this tournament pass through the WI more so Trinidad and The Tobago? I learned the game with aged guys who made up to four band and spin shots on white ball to pocket their intended ball. This is no exaggeration, I marveled at their play.
The problem here is that Davis is quite young here and likely only played American pool maybe 5-10 times. There are many differances here but a big one is that a snooker table is WAYYYYYY harder to sink balls on, the pockets are smaller, and the jaws of a pool table are a, from a physics standpoint, designed to throw the ball IN to the pocket so if you're in the general vicinity of the pocket, even hitting the rail an inch away from the pocket, the ball will still drop. A snooker table is exactly the opposite. The physical ratio of ball size to throat (the opening for the ball in the pocket) is much smaller so you have much less room for error. IN addition to that the curved design of the 'jaw' of the pocket is designed to throw the ball out of the pocket not into like a pool table. There are many other variables to consider but the bottom line is that a snooker player would not even consider shots that a pool player, even a relatively average one, would routinely play. What is "safe" to Davis is a joke to Reyes. The mind-set of both games are so different. So Davis is at a huge disadvantage here. It is like putting a very very good boxer against a good MMA fighter. When comparing these Two here is my contention; if you took an average snooker player and had them play exclusively American pool for maybe a Year so that they got a sense of how the tables play, what kind of shots can be played and what kind of shots would be effective safeties. After that Year, that average-level snooker player would likely demolish just about any high-ranked pool play, simply because their mechanics are infinitely more finely tuned. If you reversed the circumstances and took a highly ranked pool player and allowed them to invest a Year learning the dynamics (a Year is not nearly enough time btw) but in an apple-apples comparison the highly-ranked pool player would struggly mightily against even mediocre snooker players. The games are different, sure, the idiosyncracies are different, sure, the gameplay is different, sure but I don't think that many superior pool players who have swung a cue on a proper 12' table would disagree with me. Cheers. One other little item lets not forget that Reyes is a prodigy, one of the best ever. IN addition to that he played Snooker and 3-Cushion billiards so his cue mechanics are much better than the average pool player, even a top-ranked player. Reyes is on another level so having Davis playing out of his element, not really grasping the idiosyncracies of the game, and playing against the pool savant, well the result is no big suprise to me.

Too bad most of Efren's videos are littered with annoying clips and sound effects. It would be way better without them.
But wouldn't play snooker because he couldn't pot a ball. Pool is awfully much easier than snooker.
