2017 Audi A4 - CHANGING BRAKE ROTORS: 1st Time in 40k Miles + Motorsport Hardware Stud Conversion

- I've had this car for 3+ years since new now, and I've found a reason each time to brag about how well my brake rotors have held up. Unfortunately, they ended up warped and even though barely any sign of wear was still there, it was time to switch. In addition, I took this opportunity not only to do this myself (and learn one more thing about this car) but also to install the Motorsport Hardware stud conversion kit. A detailed blog post will follow, check out my new site:

Special thanks to Pit Stop Motor Tuning for allowing me to use the shop and tools to do this, I've only been going here for a few years but somehow they've managed to let me stay. No complaints there. Check them out if you're in Los Angeles, a pure 5-star Yelp worthy business:

I would have been sick if i watched the whole installation. The camera movement plus the speed increase was too much. Lol
haha was it that bad?
@@AHMoss I think it was the additional speed on the video. It's hard to have the camera moving and follow it when the speed is increased. If the camera is still, then it's okay
i appreciate the heads up lol, next time i’m going to keep the camera static
@@AHMoss No worries. Filming is not easy. That is probably why i don't do it. I appreciate your content.
I clicked thinking this is diy. Rather someone's diary and fast forwarded what I hoped to watch in a fuzzy recording... smh
Lol sorry
Seriously. How you you suppose to watch that without feeling sick. Maybe less chat in the car at start & real time during the main event. Sorry 😬
100% agree. unfortunately not knowing how to make a video if my life depended on it, the idea seemed like a good one when i made it 🤣
WTF... Head is spinning 🤮
Mine were good until 80k. No warp, little lip. Decided to get brembo rotors and pads.
Where do I know you from.....? I've never seen this channel before but I've seen you and heard your voice before I just can't figure out where from lol.
you an LA local? could be we ran into one another at some point?
@@AHMoss That is very possible, yes I am in LA and in the local audi scene so that's probably where I've seen ya lol. Didn't know you were local! Quick question, when changing your rotors were they a bitch and a half to get off like mine? been smacking them for the last couple hours and nothing so i just got some pb blaster and a gear puller and see if that will remove them lol.
@@AHMoss I'm trying to figure out if maybe i missed a bolt or something but from what I can tell everything is off so I guess its just pretty much welded itself to the hub from all the rust? lol I'm going to try a 5ton gear puller next and see if that will remove it.
if you removed the rotor bolt (little torx bolt) then a ton of rubber hammer smacks should get it loose
@@AHMoss I was starting to believe it welded itself on there because when I say I've been smacking it with different hammers since last night I mean exactly that and it would not budge lol, after soaking it with pb blaster and smacking it a few more times it finally fell off so thanks for the help brutha I appreciate you! Time to see what these carbon fiber ceramic pads are like compared to something like ebc pads
Sorry to say but this is probably the worst clip I have ever seen on YT.. I would throw f bomb but not worth it.
not many fans of the vid, good tips not to ever shoot one like this again
Since it was your first time working on the A4 (changing out rotors) was there a guide you followed? I've been looking for a guide (mostly on RUclips) on how to replace rotors/pads for the B9 but haven't had any luck.
just the factory manual to get the torque specs for the caliper/carrier bolts. i did this under the supervision of the guys who normally work on my cars
First 👌
Darth Malaka 👀 thank you!
My rotors started warping around 25k miles i changed them to TRW rotors (cause there was no oem in stock) now after 8k miles the warp agine.. i was thinking about something after market like EBC brakes but if the stocks are so good with your use i think i will give it another try :D
I can only speak with this particular experience but completely blown away and all for OEMs after so many miles. Definitely give it another shot
You wouldnt happen to have a list of tools I.E socket sizes you used ? i am replacing the the Rotor and Pads on my 2017 A4 front and Rear .
Really all I used was a breaker bar and socket (17mm? if i remember) to get the 2 bolts off the caliper carrier, an allen (might have been a torx) for the rotor bolt, and a hammer to persuade the rotors off. a torque wrench to torque the caliper bolts
Replacing my for a brand new set of drilled and slotted from Hart brakes. Do I need to change the brake sensors too? 2017 A4 Quattro 80K miles, no brake light on dashboard, just asking to make sure.
if the brake sensor isn’t triggered and the end looks fine I don’t see why not, but would still put new sensors in with new pads and rotors
This is going to sound like it's coming out of left field but I'm a watch nerd. Please tell me that's not a Monaco Calibre 11 on your wrist! If so, nice watch but good god man you have to take it off if you are wrenching.
Great eye, Caliber 12 Monaco and I don’t mind wrenching with it when there’s plenty of access for the hand, exercised great care :)
Nice man. Clutch Masters clutch kit is delivering tomorrow, we’ll see how it does when installed, keep you posted! (Btw this is Jesse)
Hell yea Jesse! Excited to hear about it man!
