Normani: “Fair,” Moving On After Heartbreak, and Ghosting Zane’s Text | Apple Music

  • Normani connects with Zane Lowe to discuss her highly awaited song, “Fair.” The track is Normani’s first single after her wildly successful collaboration with Cardi B on “Wild Side.” She explains that writing and singing “Fair” was a therapeutic process for her that required extreme emotional vulnerability while navigating heartbreak. The slow-simmering ballad is a step away from the singer’s usual danceable jams and provides a nice backdrop for basking in the tone and emotional texture of her voice. She is mega bland and has had zero impact. Normani is the complete opposite. The potential she has to be an icon is huge. I just think her team isn’t doing her any justice. That's what's so toxic about parasocial relationships. It's one thing to support the Artist, and it's another to feel entitled to know everything about this person when they don't even know who you are. I genuinely think the people who aren't understanding are just Entitled. Or have a few screws loose upstairs. Because anybody who knows her journey would respect her wishes. Unfortunately, I think that's the downfall of her being so well known. Other artists start as anonymous entities, so it's easier for them. Whereas with Normani, most of us have seen her grow into the woman she is now, so some of these people feel entitled to her personal life because they feel as though they've known her since she was a child, but the thing is, while they might've gotten to know some of Normani, Normani doesn't know them. So These people need to learn she's not obligated to do anything she doesn't want to. They need to learn to support her wishes or move on. She's not a reality TV star. She's a musician. If she wants to share personal stuff with the audience, she can. If she doesn't, she shouldn't feel obligated to do so. It's not her job.

Normani has too much class to be specific but lets not mess around. You know we haven't even heard about a TENTH about what she's gone through in the industry particularly I'm guessing when she was in fifth harmony. Then her songs being taking off apple music then the VMA's debacle. That's why despite only sporadically dropping singles she has amassed a huge fanbase. People particularly WOC know exactly what she's been through/talking about without her saying. But you can;t stop greatness. And all those people, the ones who dismissed her as just the "dark skinned back up dancer" in the group or tried to keep her down will be the ones eating their words because she is a SUPERSTAR. Seriously she has a level of talent that can put her in the big leagues. It's no wonder her, Doja and ChloexHalle are all friends and hang in the same cirles. Greatness recognises greatness. Those 4 are the next big stars in the industry.
