I come originally from Buxton, but Matlock has some lovely clean streets and very pleasant looking buildings, with a good variety of shops. The park looks most excellent. Many thanks.
I left south Sheffield with my parents 70 years ago for overseas. We used to visit many places such as Matlock. I loved the general area and at 87 I still miss the general area very much.
Thank you for a lovely walk abou. I just knew Matlock had something to do with Oak trees, is why so drawn to the place. Is much ancien hidden history in his area :-)
Lovely memories of when I spent my school days in Matlock in the 1960s. I lived at the top of Snitterton Road. Later moved to Germany and my Mother to Cornwall. Still in touch with my best school friends. I keep looking at your video when iI get home sick. My last visit was before Covid!
Living in Derbyshire in the 50s and 60s I sent several hundred hours in Matlock in the 60s, principally because it was a fabulous motorcycle route from Stanton by Dale and then Ripley. For me Matlock secured its principal fame due to every weekend literally hundreds of motorcycles being parked on its main road. It appeared to be the main meeting centre for midlands' bikers. It appears from this video that no parking is now allowed on the main road, and no massive bike centre has been opened to facilitate parking, bikers' meals etc. So whether or not it remains such bikers' mega meeting place I don't know?
The ' pillars ' next to Snitterton Road were previously the entrance to the Royal Bank of Scotland building, which closed for good, and before the pandemic started.
Hi great filming of Matlock, but you missed the boating lake, riber castle 🏰, the football ground and peak practice was also filmed in and around matlock👍😃
In the 1980s I worked in a wine bar that had a clear view of Steep Bank, the hill that goes up to the Derbyshire Council offices. On frozen or snowy nights with no customers our only amusement was watching the cars attempting and failing to get up thr hill
I live in matlock and there was also a flood in 2019. It wasn't quite so devastating but it did temporarily close many businesses and stopped people getting through the town centre.
I was born and raised just up the road from Matlock, and I used to walk into town most weekends to the Lido (swimming baths) at the bottom of Bank Road. Here's a couple of Fun Facts: Matlock isn't in the Peak District, it's just outside of it. Matlock is 45 miles from Manchester The pillars at the bottom of Snitterton used to be the entrance to William & Glyn's bank back in the 80s, it used to be my branch until it merged with Royal Bank of Scotland in 1985. it's always been a Bank from way back in the 18th century.

Nice video. I live on Cavendish Road which is right at the top of the hill, even higher than the top of Bank Road. We had snow there last year while it was raining in the town centre. About an additional 400 feet in elevation!
I did a college practicum at Matlock infants school. I used to ride my bicycle along Smedley street and bomb down Bank road. It was great! Steep, long and no traffic lights til the bottom.
My Mother (RIP) Was raised here when she was young, then moved to hackney. I travelled here in 2019 , did a ton of walking ! Very nice place tho, wish i can return there with mother's ashes .

It’s a bigger place than you think as you walk around. It would be great if you stated where you parked and prices. I know it maybe boring but you may find places to park that are better than the main car parks that can be expensive. Great video, keep on walking 😀
