They had wrist watch tv's in the 80's. Saw it at Epcot. You had to plug it into a tuner about 1/2 the size of a walkman. Just run the wire up your shirt sleeve.

I remember this episode of the Jetsons. The bad kid calls up the Jetsons on the Visiphone and confesses that he switched report tapes with Elroy, and George goes to Elroy's room to apologize but Elroy had already run away and wasn't in his room.
I seem to remember talking to some kid about this episode back in the 80s, and he said that the report tape didn't have a name on it. So how could you be sure that you are listening to the one that has the grades that your kid got? She just talks about discussing "your son's atrocious conduct." But again, she is not giving the name of the other kid, so George thinks she is talking about Elroy. She could be talking about any boy in her class.I believe the Jetsons were made in the early 60s, before audio recording was done on cassette. Now, we have the iPhone voice recording app, and we email a recording out once it's done.

Some parents are like that. There's a difference between punishing your child and psychologically beating down your child to the point where the son/daughter won't think they'll amount to anything than doing poorly in school.

Kenny asks them to tell Elroy he's sorry.

I run a phone system that is marketed to the blind, and I'm aware that blind people do a lot of things with talking computers and other talking devices. It is very common for blind people to get audiobooks. If a blind person has a child in school, they would want an audio report card to be able to know the child's grades. By the way, how does the tape get signed and returned to the teacher?

Apparently the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act doesn't exist in the Jetsons' time.

Personally Christian, I'm going with NashWalker's second theory posted downthread (you'll have to expand and search the replies under Becky Kennedy): Mr. Countdown probably knew from the beginning that his son Kenny was an underachiever and a troublemaker in school, so when Kenny brings home and plays the report tape that shows all "A" grades his father undoubtedly got VERY suspicious right away and FORCED his son to fess up. 😎
