I like the thin river bet with King Kong. Check would be fine as well to allow opponent to bluff missed diamonds or value bet themself. Plus you avoid awkward river 3bets on a paired board. Sometimes they’ll check back and you lose a little value, but makes decision making a little easier and avoids awkward spots

Your river bet for value with KK is good bc not only are you targeting strong 10s, you also get value from JJs and QQs, his most likely holdings IMO.

  • @jimbosavage
    @jimbosavage 2 года назад +4

I thought the river bet with kings was not too thin, but too small. There was over $400 in the pot. I think you could have gotten a call with a bet of $150-$180.

    Hi, you guys did awesome.
You started charging draws more, like I suggested, and you extracted more value, while protecting hand.
The betsizing on the KK on river was ok, but ok to make it about 133 to 139, etc, as would still be called.
The only thing I question is the 64 suited raising early position.
To be fair, in right spots, about 2% of time, raising 46 suited ok, good to balance out range, exploit nitty table, use nitty image.
But most to almost all the time raising 64 suited early position, out of position, then bluffing it postflop, can get you into a lot of trouble. Glad it worked for you.
QT suited, JT suited, T9 suited, is just barely ok marginal hands to once in a while balance out range, set up steals, bluffs on nitty tables, by raising them preflop in early position, and can play well postflop with caution(so that dont end up dominated, etc, to better kicker).
But 46 is even worse for above named reason, and you can easily be, get OVERFLUSHED, by better flush, and be OVERSTRAIGHTED, by a better straight, and can lose a lot.
I raise 46 too out of position in early position too to balance out my range, but I only do it about 2% of time.
Harrington on Hold Em, and Shaun Deeb who coached me, both say to avoid raising 64 suited in early position, and to only do it about 1% of time.
But hey you guys had an awesome session.
And I remembered to subscribe. Thanks for the great videos, and keep on doing well. Awesome vids.

Gotta bet the river. A little bit bigger bet I think would be better, maybe 170-200ish depending on the opponent. But river is a slam dunk value bet. Great hand.

11:29.......Any river bet that gets more money in the pot when you think you have the winning hand is a good bet. I see way to many overbets that run opponents off of decent hands that could have given added value.

The KK hand, I think you have to blast like $250-300 into your opponent here. It is basically a dream river. Sure, you will value own yourself a small percentage of the time, but in the long run this is a slam dunk 75% pot sized bet on the river.

On the KK hand I think it’s fine to bet but larger considering the action. $120 into 420 not enough with the best possible 2p with so many hands to get value from. You mention how he might have a flush draw but flush draws on the River aren’t calling a $20 bet or a $400 bet. The only hands beating you are a slow played set of 10s or maybe action player 78sthat floated flop with a pair and turned open ended. The most realistic hands you’re facing though are AT-JT and JJ which will all call a $200-250 river bet.

  • @derekjwalls

That 115 river bet is too small you bet 120 on the turn... think about it if his draw misses he's not calling anything so you should be value betting half pot 2/3 pot for value!

9:43 I think you left a lot of money on the table on this hand. (1) Preflop, when you're out of position, you really need to go bigger, because (a) you're out of position, and (b) they don't fold (especially the villain in this hand). Generally go 4x+ out-of-position, so $60-70. Flop bet looks pretty good. And look at the physical affect of the way he puts his call in. He snaps those chips down like he's tired of you just betting and raising all the time. He is tied in.
    (2) Turn. Good bet (unlike the the previous one where you bet $60 into $200). Charges the draws plenty.
    (3) River. This is where you missed big value imo. You said "I think all of his tens are just going to fold to a big bet." This is Texas and that guy is epoxy. You're absolutely right that his busted straight and flush draws are going to fold so they don't matter. But I have two rules about betting rivers:
Rule #1: I never try to make them fold top pair.
Rule #2: When I'm beating top pair, I go for massive value.
Rule #2a: When my hand > top pair > AK, I go for extra value. That's because they love to put me on AK and/or a busted draw.
I just don't understand why you said "I think a small bet is in order." Nothing I've seen about Texas poker suggests a small bet is in order. There's $430 in the pot, I bet $250. And I bet it gets snap-called. You also say "T9" doesn't make sense. It makes all the sense in the world - he certainly *could* have T9, which is paying off almost anything, because he beats all the other tens.
Remember, the goal is not to get a bet called - it's to get maximum value over all those value bets. If they call $250 *one-half* as frequently as they call $115, you're still dollars ahead.
Nice drone b-roll, and keep up the good work.
