Honestly i expected crap like this to happen when people forget the point of art is in general, expressing a creative design in one`s style. AI art itself already flips off it by basically turning it into a kitbash `gacha` of a program randomly generating crap with no care to a specific style and then likely filling in the `specifics later` as if you were the one who did it.
Literally the carriage before the horse, except they not only did not buy the horse, but they expect it to still go twenty times faster then a horse drawn carriage when no actual effort (the horse) is even present to generate the kinetic energy to move the carriage in the first place.
Overall, it only exists by feasting on existing materials to cannibalize itself into a very terrible image work which definitely cannot work in any comics or animated material because of the constant random changing of imagery that gives no fks to keeping it consistent, because it cannot understand the function of things like fingers or belts, because its a kitbash of random stuff, that without the stuff being segmented into likely hundreds or thousands of of layers with specific key terms, it STILL will turn into a terrible kitbash of crap.
And do you expect ACTUAL artists to take an extra 1~8 months on each of thar artwork comissions to segment various layers with key terms and what not to let AI artists make use of it? Heck no.

yeah. Does creating vector graphics make you an artist? Does depicting a colourfull variation of the fibonacci sequence make you an artist? Does creating a website make you an artist?
Does using photoshop make you an artist? What if you're able to take 'inspiration' of another artist and slighlty alter the work? Does that make you am artist? What if you just recreate their image with the inspiration of their image, you would need skills as an artist to do that, but is it art?
The line is blurry and pretty undefined imo. You can spend hours upon hours learning about the generational AI framework, prompt instructions for a single image that might be completely unique to your vision and use the AI essentially as a paintbrush, does that make you an artist? But you could also just input "pirate dog in space, ultra hd, high quality" and be done with it.
What if you take an empty canvas, some colour a brush, listen to a youtube tutorial about modern art and put down some random lines and colours on the canvas and manage to sell it? Does that make you an artist?
I believe this is just a new tool to be used and some people are spending time on it and learning how it works and how the models itself operate and others just lazily play gacha with it until they get something that they can post and brag about.@@Gray1_9

    • @Gray1_9
      @Gray1_9 8 месяцев назад +105

@cyannight7364 Yeah, art comes in many forms. But how ai is being used is merely replication of existing art styles, that other artists perfected, by someone typing promts into a key board to get a product that is replicated from other artists' styles. Styles that were created using actual mediums other than AI. They are then selling the pieces, claiming to be an artist that creates original works. If it wasn't being used this way, I wouldn't hold this opinion. But you can hop into any server and see the ai art. My gf was able to tell who's style some of these AIs are ripping off, just by seeing it at a glance. It is that blatant.

I think there is some context and more that's needed. For example, what if you're someone who created a famous quote, or something that `is a big "meme" these days, and then someone else stole it, and was claiming it as their own?
That being said most of this guy's "prompts" are probably awful.....
Also, I will say that there was as time `about 10-12 years ago, I was in a specific hobby/niche-industry, and had been using a word that all of a sudden other people were randomly using. I was a bit annoyed at the guy who was pushing the word (it was apparently part of a commercial or something and they liked it), and i kindly asked them to please stop using it via pm, and oh boy were they mad and made a post talking trash on me and I got a bunch of Hate.`
Now I see that it might be a bit silly to have even pm'd him, but his reaction, was crazy. I shouldn't claim a word as my own, but when you say something for 3 years, and then all of a sudden others are using it like they have been saying it all this time... it gets annoying.

Yes, digital art is easier than traditional, who has contested that? If a person wanted to pass off their digital painting as a traditional piece, they’d still be flamed. That’s why they are put under different categories. Even so, most good digital artists can hold their own if they have to create a real life painting. The digital artist decided the composition, did the shading, did the sketching, understands anatomy and posing, did the colouring, and all those things traditional artists would have to do. Most AI artists have no idea about the principles behind these. The advantage they have is more access to different brushes that they may not have access to in real life, editing and the undo button. Though it’s harder, it’s definitely possible to do a copy paste. Plus, most high level digital artists don’t need copy pasting and prefer to just draw it, or at least uses it to a minimum. In the case where you may use it a lot, like drawing a crowd, generally copypasting is considered lazier than a person who decides to draw every single person by hand.

@@mathis8210…yes. If you know anything about the art community, you’ll know that presets such as bases are generally frowned upon unless specifically stated and crediting the maker of the base. This further proves you barely know anything about art. Sparkle tool is barely used by anyone except for those who have just discovered digital art, because most experienced ones know that it does not look good. Even if they do, they still draw everything else and there’s a lot of components going into it as detailed by my previous responses to you. Let’s use an example of the Gacha community. They use a dress up game and definitely aren’t comparable to full artists, but some of their pieces are respected. Why?
      1. They never claim the art is theirs. (Probably the most important part)
      2. They usually mix it with another skill, typically shading, tweening animation, character design, story writing, etc.
Since you are already a clearly very avid user of AI, next time you should use it to generate better rebuttals.
