I don't know if someone has been reporting my video but YT have gave me a warning because apparently the links in the description are dangerous/harmful. So if you need to find the Savegame manager or smallftpd, unfortunately you're going to have find it yourself.
@itsjustavery5780 it's really not hard to use tbh. Use Encounter database to get any pokemon. Edit it in many ways. Has a legality check. Use the SAV tab to edit items ect.
I can't thank enough for your videos, they helped me a lot! I was trying to find a way to backup my save files from my NDS and GBA and fortunately I've found your videos after spending the whole day trying to find a solution. My Nintendo DS Lite's screens are dying (turning white) so I could barely see what it was written, but thanks to your tutorial being on point saying steps by steps I just followed through and it worked like a charm! I've also followed your 2 other videos where I could back up my proper GBA and NDS game ROMs, now I'm enjoying my own games and saves on Retroarch, which is on Steam and I also have the benefits of the Steam Cloud which is amazing! Thank you!
You are very welcome! If i can help myself remember how to do it and help anyone else. Im happy. Yeah i started all this a while back because i wanted back up my saves and got hooked. Found a whole new dimension to games i have played for many many years. Check out my other videos about the cheats you can do on emulator. With your newly acquired ability to backup and restore, you can make it fun again.
@@PkmHax I finally made it! I've changed my hotspot into another phone, and it worked. (I used Galaxy S21 at first, and LG Q9 at second) I expect it was some hotspot issue. Thanks for your help!
Hi, I've done all the steps, but when I put the game in the console to save .sav file, the upload process never starts and there is always wrote "writing file". How can I fix this problem? I'm sorry if I wasn't so clear
When it says to make sure that the DS is connected, does that involve any steps beyond setting up a basic connection in a game's Wi-Fi menu? (e.g. setting the DS connection's DNS to a fan server or setting up a wireless network between the PC and the DS before installing smallftpd)
Is using a flashcart a must or is using a forwarder to launch the savegame manager fine? And does this only work exclusively on the DS or does it work as well on the 3DS family as well?
Sorry for the late reply. Didnt see this. Iv had problems with it too at times. If you have had it running but it is suddenly saying something like unable to bind socket. Restart your PC and that can fix it. Check you have the savegame manager folder in the right place also. Can you describe a bit more?
I followed the video step by step but when I open savegame manager I get the message "connecting to FTP server" and it gets stuck there. Any idea on how to get pass this?
Sometimes it can temperamental. Try restarting your PC and running it again. Or try changing the port number to 8080 in both smallftpd and the ini file. Also make sure you're firewall is allowing those ports. If all else fails and you're definitely following the steps perfectly, uninstall the programme, restart PC and try again.
Not too sure tbh. Make sure your firewall is allowing it. Create a rule for that specific port. Maybe try changing the port on the file and on smallftpd, i use 21 or 8080. Other than that i would just say uninstall the softwares, restart your PC and try again from scratch.
Yeah, like you say, the transfer is done using the ftp server. So all you need is a slot 1 flash card and ability to set up your own encryption free WiFi hotspot.
Hi, you say that you are supposed to connect the ds to your phones wifi hotspot, but how do you then connect it to your computer? And how does the ftp server communicate with the ds, doesn't the ds need to be connected to that server?
Yes. So you turn on your hotspot on your phone(making sure it is passwordless) Also connect your computer to your hotspot. You then setup up smallftpd like in the video, editing the .ini file so that the IP addresses match up. If you're having trouble, start from scratch and follow every step in the video perfectly.
@@PkmHax I have a R4 Gold Pro, is it compatible? BTW, the website description states 3ds is not supported, so, are you sure savegame_manager works with it?
@@gustavohal2401 Yeah that would probably do the trick. I'm sure there will be a 3ds programme somewhere. I don't have a 3ds atm so not something I have done yet.

I'm glad I could be of help. Were you backing up to do cheats or just to keep save safe?

Nope just the basic connection as if you're playing a game.
Is using a flashcart a must or is using a forwarder to launch the savegame manager fine? And does this only work exclusively on the DS or does it work as well on the 3DS family as well?
You need a flashcart. With 3ds it's best to homebrew and then you can backup/restore with the click of a button.
Can you do this with 3ds

So does this method work without a slot2 flashcart? I'm assuming so as it transfers the save to/from the game over the ftp?
Yeah, like you say, the transfer is done using the ftp server. So all you need is a slot 1 flash card and ability to set up your own encryption free WiFi hotspot.
