Solid Stand up Railfanning my friend. It looks cold out there. I would be out everyday if I had a Rail Road Super Highway like the Chillicothe but where I'm at,we don't even have an active spur line, lol. I have to drive an hour to get to an active line which is the NS South Eastern Division line in Tazwel,Indiana.
    Thanks for the share!

Do you know where they park the locomotives and trains for the local on the Chillicothe (the yard they run them out of)? I know on the Mendota Sub, they are stored in Mendota. I've always wanted to check out the Chillicothe Sub.

Thunderhawk 1985 GM yard in Hodgkins for the westbounds to Galesburg I believe and Galesburg yard for the eastbounds

Illinois Valley Railfan that's a pretty long distance for locals. I've always wanted to visit Galesburg too. I know there's a ton of train activity down there. The farthest south I've been on the BNSF is Mendota, Illinois.

Thunderhawk 1985 It's a nice place to visit with all the lines going through it plus the huge yard

Illinois Valley Railfan I think there's like four or five different subdivisions that all intersect there. I do know Galesburg is the second largest yard that BNSF owns (Argentine in Kansas City is their biggest). Is Galesburg easily accessible by car? I stay off of railroad property when I take pictures of trains (I'm sort of new to railfanning and am still learning the ropes).

Illinois Valley Railfan does the yard in Streator have any power stored there or is it just storage for rail cars? It looks like a decent sized yard for a small town that it is.
