When my sister’s Godmother, Gladys, passed, her daughters ordered a glad bouquet for her services. The glads were so amazing on such short notice (mid June). I actually cried at the slight of the glads because Gladys grew glads in her garden that I remember as a kid.
I absolutely adore your relationship with your grandparents. Wish I had that with mine. So sweet. ❤ Also, your daughter is so cute in the beginning! She takes after her mama I can tell 😁
You are hilarious, girl! I thoroughly enjoy all the videos of the amazing flowers you are cultivating, but it is your spontaneous and 'mad' girl presentation that really hooks me and differentiates you from the other farmers. Keep up the terrific work, Nicole!
Thank you for your goofy video. Although I mostly incline to educational video, yours are entertaining and genuine. It refreshes me every time I watch your video. I enjoy them a lot :)
I loved this so much -especially the portion with your Grandpa and you talking about your Grandparents. My grandparents too were inspirations for me and I practically grew up on their farm. My grandma could grow anything and in their more advanced years my grandpa was so meticulous at helping to tend to all the beautiful flowers on their property and so proud for garden tours during visits. I miss them dearly.
I edited my previous post but should have just replied instead. I forgot to mention that I am super impressed with the Lisi!! They require so much time and patience! I would be really proud too. 😀
Am I in the middle of moving? yes. Did I take time out to watch this and only this? Yes. Love your videos Nicole! Your enthusiasm is contagious and Grandpa is AWESOME! LOVE IT!!!
Both my grandpas were gardeners too. Seeing yours on here got me all teary eyed... and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who breaks out in Newsies quotes and songs at any moment!
Your daughter with the sunflowers brought a smile to my day. :) You are so fortunate to have grandparents still with you..... I have beautiful memories of my grandpa; he was one of my gardening inspirations. Grew vegetables like 'no ones' business'. I have his 1932 Massachusetts Horticulture Society medal / award for 'Meritorious Garden Work' (perfect condition). Yep, tears in my eyes.
You have a very beautiful daughter :) she has your humor. I'm obsessed with your lilies, and the first fav flower that I tried is the Carnations, it does smell really good.
Dreaming of glads. Nagel's is an hour and 10 minutes north of me! Drivable, and I am a real driver. So, I will see what a personal visit can accomplish! I have room to store corms, and I WANT some more! God Bless You for giving me some joy right now during this period of Covid entrampment. Bed time now, but sweet dreams for this ol' duffer!
I read a blog recently that said if you dip Dahlia stems in hot water (160-180°F) for a few seconds, you will increase the vase life by 2-3 days. I will try it this summer (January) when our dahlias are in bloom. I do know that treatment has been used with Chysanthemums for years....
You made me cry! My grandparents were my biggest inspirations. I lost my Grams last summer. She was just tickled that I was starting a flower farm. I'm so happy you still have them both in your life!🤗 Best treasures in the world.
Love love love the way you care about your family, husband, children, parents and Grandparents!!! I planted gladiolus’ for the first time in late spring 2020 and they totally did not turn out like yours, they looked very wimpy!!!! Heheheh, but I was sooo excited when they “” bloomed hehehe. Little did I know.... Also ,even if you may have friends that don’t believe in your passion for your flower garden I can understand how defeating that may feel! I saw that video . We have to feel that hurt, to make our confidence for our passion stronger!! I hope next year to make a little flower bed for the first time, I don’t have gorgeous space like you have. I will make a small spot and try !!
Omg the lisanthus I so worth the wait, will you grow them again this year and make us a video saying what you would do and wouldn’t since it’s your second year growing them🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 thanks so much for sharing your journey especially with lissy because I’m wanting to try and grow them but I’m scared and there’s not a lot of videos about them either, again thanks 🥰🥰🥰
Such a sweet family, I love how fond you are of your memories with your grandparents and your grandpa's love of gardening! Now I understand where you got your passion for it. And you're so funny how you get so excited about your "lisi's" ..and calling on Gina. I think I'll try growing some lisianthus in my backyard next spring -- hopefully I can find some seeds I can get started with now. Thank you!
MY husband keeps asking me "what are we doing tonight?" my answer- "don't know about you but I'm going to be watching gardening videos and ordering seeds"! hahaha
New sub here and I'm loving you and your content! I'm binge watching your vids, and noticed you make me yawn everytime lol keep up the great vids! ♥️ from just above the border!🇨🇦
I just found your channel today! I love you're videos, i have been binge watching. Your personality is amazing. You kept me learning and laughing through out your videos. Thank you for sharing. I am going to be starting a picking flower garden this year. So I need all the help I can get. ❤
Also, if you make a shirt that says "Glad to see ya!" With a picture of a bunch of gladiolus, I would totally buy it and wear it to my farmer's market stand next year!
Hi! I fell in love with gladiolus because of you 😍 and I don't know anything about them, learning from you! I live in Bariloche, Argentina and we are in the winter now... When is the best time to plant the bulbs directly outside? Are they perennial? Should I dig them out in Fall and keep them where? Thank you! Love your videos! ♥️
Hi! They are a perennial but are only winter hardy to a USDA zone 7, so we have to lift the bulbs and plant again in the spring! So, I always plant in early spring. They are super easy to fall in love with 🥰
@@FlowerHillFarm good evening from Australia 🇦🇺😊 I have a small patch, just starting. I am so excited and I will be just like you when I have flowers. Do you have a preferred fertiliser? What ratios are we after generally? Those hip pockets are so handy! Have a lovely morning and harvest 💐💜
I generally use Planttone or Biotone when planting and then Neptune's for foliar feeding. I always follow the labels. I also add manure to the soil every year!
You inspire me to cleannup my backyard and plant that gladiolas. Can I plant it spring time coz I think cleaning will take up the whole fall and prep the land...?
@@FlowerHillFarm how about tulip narcissus iris bulbs...i got a lot from.costco last week. Planning to plant next month when its cooler?what's your advise on that?
Yes. You need to let them die back after harvest. I dig them up at the end of the season and store them in my basement. Zones 7 and higher can leave them in the ground

Wait, 🙋🏻♀️ question - why the organza bags on the dahlias?!! Please share all the tips!
Bugs!
@@FlowerHillFarm those pesky thrips!!!
Did you mentioned if the Bi color gladiolus was an actual variety ?
Sweet video...are the little netted bags a necessity for the Dahlia's??
They are not necessary, but in my case I had a lot of bug pressure and used them to stop the bugs from eating my blooms.
MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!! :)
Omg I bought the hat🤟😘
I haven't taken it off for two days 🥰👍

What zone are you in?
@@FlowerHillFarm I'm in Caldwell Idaho .not sure what zone😁
@@FlowerHillFarm zone 5
Definitely plant in spring! The bulbs are not winter hardy and don't typically survive the winter in zones colder than 7!
@@FlowerHillFarm how about tulip narcissus iris bulbs...i got a lot from.costco last week. Planning to plant next month when its cooler?what's your advise on that?
You are so lovely just had to say
After harvest, do you dig up the bulbs and reuse them next year?
Gladioli bulbs, can they be reused next year?
Yes. You need to let them die back after harvest. I dig them up at the end of the season and store them in my basement. Zones 7 and higher can leave them in the ground
I love America!!I love America!!I love America!!!!!!?????????
Have you tried lupins?
I planted a patch this past spring- they should bloom this year!
@@FlowerHillFarm It’s a treat every spring for me. And last summer were mild here in sweden, so I had my lupins in bloom the hole season. 🤗
How close do you plant your gladiolous?
Very close. Half inch or so-- maybe an inch apart. Just breathing room.
Good morning madam ❤️🇮🇳
