I also love the Anthem. It has been my single favorite pickup for years. Still is. But this new Baggs HIFi pickup is musical and very close second. Or a first choice if you prefer the least invasive installation.
Thank you. I also heard some Very harsh demos of the Baggs HIFi and was nervous before I tried it myself. I’ve gigged with this pickup a couple shows, 3 hours each and I can safely say it is musical and sweet through my Bose L1 Pro 8 system and my Fishmannloudbox Artist at home. Very impressed. I vastly prefer this over a K&K.
@@gair1944 You’re welcome! I was pretty disheartened by the other reviews I’ve viewed until yours. I’m a big advocate for the Baggs Anthem SL but I don’t like having to bother with the under saddle piezo element. I do all my own work so I can start thinking about the HiFi again as a good alternative. I run my acoustic guitars through a Bose S1 Pro and a EV Evolve 30M. Fishman amps are great too.
Incredible video. I have 2004 McPherson MG 5.0 that has an old Baggs under saddle. I love the HiFi and will be putting one in my McPherson instead of the Anthem SL. I hope it works as well as Caleb at Baggs likes it.
I've had the Baggs VTC Element a couple of times over the years. The Anthem was always profoundly better. Then the HiFi came along. I personally feel it is way better than the VTC Element under saddle solution. The HiFi is the least invasive acoustic pickup I have found. I also think it is much sweeter than the K&K Pure Western Mini. That pick up absolutely needs a preamp, but regardless, the K&K was more feedback prone. I am very impressed with the Baggs HiFi PU after a few gigs and using it at home. Sounds great through my Bose L1 Pro 8 pair. Here is a link to a recording I made of the Baggs HiFi recorded real-time into my Boss RC-500 Loop station as I was sound checking before a show. ruclips.net/video/nmyUQzrjNSo/видео.html
Another plus for LR Baggs in general is that they will call you back in a timely manner and talk with you about their pickups. Caleb from Baggs called me within 24 hours and gave me a ton of info. I love my McPherson but I called them a week ago and asked for a return call and no call back. I wanted to know what their thinking is about how different pickups work in their guitars. I guess since I wasn’t spending $10,000 on a guitar they don’t have the time. I hope the HiFi sounds that good in my guitar. Great videos and fantastic guitar playing.
Compared to the AER Compact 60, you get a lot more bang for the buck with the Fishman and perhaps even a better although not as neutral a sound. The Fishman is better at hiding the shortcomings of a piezo-based pickup.
So I have that amp too. What settings do you use and what vocal mic. The pickup sounds good but your other stuff sounds better. Less boingy than a K&K.
Nice - I have used the 180 watt version of it. Gotta be careful not to be brassy with them, but for finger work they can be very nice. Just have to cut the highs a bit when getting into more of a strum - and/or use a pick that smooths it out. I like them a lot except even the largest one can't be used with 2 or 3 people. LR Baggs unit sounds nice and natural too. And the Loop sounded really pretty. How do you feel about your Bose unit? Do these small arrays actually give you more of a spatial sound charteristic? By the way - do you live close to the PHX area?
Sounds like they finally outdid themselves, their Anthem pickup has been my favorite acoustic pickup for a long time.. That sounds really accurate.

Nice, thanks. This is the best video I’ve seen on the Hifi thanks again
Your review is the first one that I’ve heard where it doesn’t sound like the guitar has a wet blanket over it. It sounds really nice here! Nice job 👍🏻
Thank you. I also heard some

Thanks for the review. Thinking about trying one of these. My anthem has too much feedback issues with the mic
Came for the pick up stayed for the playing
Thank you for the nice compliment

not too shaby!! i like it
I love your playing! ❤
Thank you so much!
Thanks, I'm very interest in this one.
hello thanks for this, btw did you switch off your microphone?
Beautiful sound
Thanks for stopping by and for your comment
Sounds great! How do you think it compares with the LR Baggs EAS VTC Element? Thanks, Bill
Way better than the Element in my opinion. I’ve had the Element alone and was not happy. Personal opinion. No disrespect to those who like it.
Thank you Gary! Much appreciated. Bill 🎶
@@Nashjersey My pleasure to help Bill.
Hi fi or Baggs Lyric?
I never tried a Lyric by itself. I would choose the Anthem over the Lyric or the HiFi
