    I'd recommend using red for C and Blue for F, as that's the convention for colors of harp strings.

    Interesting project! Please keep us updated on how you actually play on this keyboard. In your cover video it seems as if you hit two keys now and then.
    Would you consider your layout to play easier than traditional keyboard layout?

      Thanks for saying so! Yes, sometimes I hit more than one key, but I think it's not any easier to flub notes on this keyboard than on the traditional piano, and it will just take practice to get more accurate. Also, because the spacing of the overlay isn't perfect, sometimes pushing down one keytop presses down on two keys below. That's a flaw in my implementation of the idea and will, I hope, not be an issue in the next design. I do think that this layout is much much easier to learn than the traditional keyboard. You learn your fingerings just once instead of twelve times, and this coloring system has exceeded my expectations. Though my practice time on the keyboard has been depressingly lacking, I already find myself intuitively reaching for notes I want, and using the colors to guide me through the structure of a scale when improvising. I've got a couple more theory oriented videos in the works, but then I should get to printing out, assembling, and practicing something new on the next design.     The colour pattern you chose is interesting, but I've noticed using it means you can't take advantage of the pattern of (starting on Cb) 21212 2121212, which matches the white/black keys pattern on standard pianos. Have you considered scootching it all down one half tone? I might cut some of the keys that stick out past the others off a bit. Love the Idea though!!!

      Your most recent version makes it less easy to play without looking, because every note has two keys. Is this a problem at all?

      I don't know what you mean here. Could you explain it another way?

      Yes, this very well might be worth doing, both to keep the weight down and to save a little space for transportation. I didn't bother because it would have required my designing more keytops =P

      I haven't found it to be a problem personally. I also don't know how much of a benefit having some of the notes only have one key would actually be if you wanted to not to have to look at the keyboard, since you'd have to feel around above and below the key to make sure it's one of the notes that doesn't have two keytops. I think a tactile system on the keytops themselves would solve this problem much more effectively, though I can't be sure until I try it.
      Have two keytops per note is a pretty big benefit too, since any time you would fall off the "edges" of the layout you have the option to move to the enharmonic equivalent.

      The notes on this older model either have one or two keys on each of them. You start off with one C note, then two on C#/Bb, then just one D etc. The pattern of one/two keys per note is the same as the pattern of White/Black notes on a traditional keyboard.

      This could be used as a refference between the two systems by having only one key on the black notes, and two keys on the white notes. The colours can stay the same, although I personally would preffer using black and white, more colours are not necessary as the nr of keys per note indicate where you are in the scale, but that's just aesthetic prefference.
      Added tactile indications could be a useful bonus and easy to 3D print straight into the keys.
      My dream is to combine an isomorphic keyboard with a notation system that treats all notes equally. I'm not quite sold yet on the idea of tilting the whole janko keyboard upwards though, seems like a needless complication but I'm sure you have some good reasons for it.

    You think that it's possible to print an ovelay like the Dodeka keyboard ?

      Yes, it should definitely be possible. The program I've written might even do it automatically with the right parameters fed in, as long as it's not a weird edge case that breaks everything =P
