Just a heads up for anyone still watching, REPLACE THOSE BOLTS. They are TTY bolts and stretch. If you dont, the new gakset will be shot within a week.
After anything and anything I’m so sure that I have problem with this “ Turbo gasket to exhaust manifold “ on my old TT quattro MK1 ! I’m not a mechanic so this transverse mounting engine on TT is so damn hard tight on space to DIY ! But I cannot as a stealership to do so.. 😅, yeah this gasket is leaking now my TT is like oh yeah diesel! But NO MIL NO issue with performance but soundtrack like crap ! 😅 OMG I’m thinking how to do myself and Thanks for the VID
Don’t grind the bolt, they’re torque to yield like another commenter said, get new ones, also I would recommend hand threading a little for the new bolts into the the turbo so you have a even smaller chance of cross threading
Please answer quick, ive had a leak for a while, just found out that i am missing one of these bolts and the other one was basically off completely, will i need to replace the missing one with a tty bolt or will any bolt do?
A random mechanic told me to replace my exhuast manifold gasket and bolts on my turbo engine He would need to remove my turbo, catalytic converter and exhuast manifold to replace the gasket. I don't understand why he not going straight to the manifold area after removing the heat sheild. The turbo is close. Everything sits on the side of my engine.
Interesting video, thanks. Doubt the job will be as simple as it appears since my S3 8L has a transverse engine and there doesn't seem much space behind the engine. I guess you play the guitar or maybe you just like cultivating bacteria under your finger nails? .....Yikesy Mikey! aaarrrggghhh
Same issue I have… I’ve got a TT mk1 and the motor isn’t sideways like this… such a problem to work on the turbo or even pull it up like this guy does here at the end 😂🙈
Legends say he still hasn't cut his fingernails yet

exactly what happened to me, learned my lesson
Thankyou!
Interesting. I've done a few 1.8t engine swaps and never had an issue using original bolts. Guess I was lucky.
I've replaced this gasket 5 times, I never knew the bolts were TTY, also the audi a3 has no space back there.

Grinding the bolt wont affect the TTY specs

@@ItsKimbi im assuming tty otherwise i see no reason why they wouldnt use a regular bolt , do you know what size tty bolt they are ?
Put some grease on the tap so it catches any metal shavings instead of dropping them into your turbo.
That’s a wobble extension you also need a swivel to make it easier
I found a narrow 17mm combo wrench that fit in there perfectly instead or using a socket
do you have a video on the turbo to exhaust gasket what is it 4 bolt ? thanks
Torque spec?
Hi bro
İ am from Turkey?
What are the symptoms of this fault?
Great vidéo 👍
Hi
What symptoms do you experienced? Smoke under hood?
What dice number are you using?

Then you try it
You have to do all this on a transverse 1.8t like in a golf, a3 or audi tt. The access is absolutely miniscule unless you go under.
Why you didn’t reuse the washers?
Could catch, normally there's a washer that goes under those 17mm bolts.
1:35 intake manifold??
Can anyone tell me where to buy the Exhaust manifold turbo gasket?
Those nails 💀
wish mine was that easy valbowski
Those exhaust bolts can be a pain

Send him a nail clippers or a side cutter

Does this car still run?? Lol
