Received my repair kit 10 days after placing order, and it took me a whole 4 minutes to do the job! No fuss, no mess straight forward (very easy for the not mechanically inclined but can use a Phillips screwdriver). This was spot on perfect, and simple to do (after crawling into the trunk from the rear seats. Thank you! Pathetic is that this problem was caused by yet another piece of VW cheap plastic crap. I've had to fix so much plastic crap in my VW Jetta, repeatedly. I'm confident I'll never have to fix this trunk piece again. Awesome!
Put this on today. It was stupid simple. I couldn't believe those fasteners were already threaded! Worst part of the job was climbing in the trunk through the back seat to take everything apart. Turns out my trunk keyhole is junk, can't even put the key all the way in. And the emergency pull lever was busted too! This saved the day.
Awesome quick and easy fix. I had one issue; I had to adjust the "rod" in order to put the proper spacing between the "plunger" and the newly installed tab. In doing so, my adjustment then caused the trunk "latch" not to release properly, so I had to re-adjust the rod several times until I found the "sweet spot". Once this was accomplished, the trunk was fixed! Great Item!

Great quick fix video, I have an 04 Jetta GLS..same problem..trunk will not open with alarm or interior door buttons. I hear the actuator release..same cracked part..! Where can I purchase this kit..! Dealer wanted to screw me with an Electrical Tracing.. I'm no sucker..! Thanks..!
We have a 2003 Jetta and this is exactly what happened to our trunk latch. We removed the trunk cover and found the plastic piece is broken. Will the part you have work on the 2003 Jetta and do you sell the part yourself or where can we purchase it? Thank you.
I have taken one off with a manual latch. It isnt that hard you just need to remove screws around it and remove the linkage. I can post a video if people are having a problem with this.

Last night, the trunk of my care stopped opening by remote entry. It's this exact problem with the broken plastic lever shown in this video. Some things should have simply been made of metal. Most Volkswagens in North America were made in Mexico. Do I need to say anything else?
At Amazon, this is out of stock with no none time of when it will be back in stock. Why keep this video up, giving the customer false hope that the product is available? Guess I'm going to have to fabricate my own part. That means, the people who made this part lose another sale because they can't keep up with demand.
