  • Shepard, River, Alex, Noah and Henry designed a tactile chess board for their end user Ed Summers, who has visual impairments. Although other tactile chess boards exist in the market, many still come with accessibility issues. The team went through a rigorous process to address these issues and make an enjoyable game that Ed could enjoy with his family.

    actually pretty useful, but how much harder was it to play chess without a visual of the board?

      Hi there! We're not in touch with the designers anymore but that's a good question and we're sure it would take a lot of practice. The full sighted play could also play without the blindfold :)
