  • IPA’s Executive Director Scott Hargreaves says “all levels of government are to blame” for the housing crisis in Australia.
Mr Hargreaves told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio that migration levels putting stress on housing demand is “solely the preserve of the federal government”.
“What we’re seeing now is virtually an out of control migration program,” he said.
“The federal government is putting the accelerator on the program to bring in new arrivals at a rate that we just cannot cope with.
“That’s why Australians are getting very worried about this program.”

Hmm compulsory preferential voting keeps votes to the two major parties. Unless you get 50% of voters in a seat to vote for 1 minor party as first choice (which hardly ever happens). Overall enough seats to form government will only go to Labor. Only due to the coalition of 2 parties does Liberal/National party win enough seats to beat Labor. Now if Labor formed a coalition...😮

builders were overstimulated before the rates were inevitably going to rise... some could argue that the homebuilder scheme dragged more people into the building market before they were ready, and builders signed too many people before costs rose drastically... some builders may have collapsed at the start of covid, but more will collapse now for promises they can no longer physically keep...

Record immigrant intake is the current cause for all current problems (inflation, congestion, housing crisis, hospital/ambulance overcapacity, youth crime, social issues, etc.)! Once interest rates start impacting growth further, there will be job losses and unemployment will rise. Rising unemployment in conjunction with record immigrant intake would be a disaster for Australians who will find that there will be increased competition for new jobs due to the record immigrant intake. There will also be downward pressure on wages with increased competition for jobs due to the record immigrant intake.

In Western Australia you can blame Mark McGowan for the housing problems. He knew there was a housing crisis in 2014 when he was opposition leader. He was informed again in 2017 when he became premier of WA. He was informed in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. He did nothing about housing in the entire time he was in politics or the leader of this state.
Anthony Albanese was told to stop immigration when he came into power because there weren't enough houses for the people currently living here, let alone 5000 new people coming here every week. He hasn't stopped it and the immigrants have made the housing crisis worse, and more people are on the street now than ever in our country's history.
Mothers with children are living on the street because of incompetent governments who don't care about the average person or homeless people because the politicians have a nice home and aren't going to end up homeless.
The governments in this country should be ashamed off themselves for not doing anything about homeless people and housing. The governments and their arrogance has seen hundreds of thousands of people become homeless in the last 2 years. This is Australia, the lucky country. Well not anymore. You will be lucky to have a roof over your head because of the scumbags in government who don't care about the real people.
