The building on N Main St is one that I did a painting of as a child. I took those art classes for kids at RISD and we would pick a building and paint it.
I remember walking by it years ago seeing it for the first time and being weirded out by it somehow, for whatever reason I never saw anything of it again and there was a point where I was wondering whether I only imagined seeing it. Glad to see I’m not crazy.
l was in a boy's choir in my youth. l still remember our performance in the Arcade across the street one Christmas. Part of magical downtown Providence in its Hey Day.
Reminds me of my visit to Memphis in the 1990s. Much of its downtown was completely gone. A handful of facades had been preserved and propped up this way, with nothing behind them.
In Berlin you find the still standing facade of a WW2-bombed train station. In Dresden some facades of war destroyed buildings after decades have been reused for new buildings after reunification.
You should check out historical Coventry sometime. The Nathanael Greene Homestead is here, and it's pretty cool just to know that a historical figure lived so close to where I do now.
Fantastic videos! I’ve lived in Bristol most of my life. Love this town and state. Maybe you could do a video on the old dewolf tavern and all the Slave trade history in Bristol.
I’m from Mystic CT - been following your vids for a while, the production quality is incredible bro. Would love to collab on a bando sometime. Do you ever shoot film?
Considering that downtown Providence is notoriously susceptible to disastrous flooding from hurricane storm surges, I wonder how that affects new construction in the flood zone?
I also know the parking lot behind the facade is used often as a filming location, on a few occasions I’ve actually seen productions actively being filmed there!
I'm so happy to see someone take care of my beautiful city! If I got a nickel for everytime I walked pass that building, I would be the wealthiest person in RI!! As Joan Baez put it.... 🎼 You don't what you got until it's gone! Rip down the building and put up a parking lot!🎼 I would love to see something on the Arcade! What beautiful building and the history behind it. It's a well hidden gem! Is the water fountain still outside of the Hospital Trust building? And if so do the college kids still put dish detergent in it!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Bubble art!! So cool at night when walking through it!! I LOVE MY STATE!!! SEVEN GENERATIONS DEEP!!! 🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚
Great job Jason, as always! I love this stuff, history and architecture. Living in a repurposed factory building, our COVID19 walks all over the city revealed to us a rich past. Check out the abandoned Dept of Roads building around Okie and Arline stss
Wow Jason great job 👏 I actually didn’t know about that façade building. I love how you edit your videos. We are planning on a meet up with RIDMUG group it’s on July 31 at collier Park hopefully you’ll be able to make it there’s going to be some pretty big RUclipsrs there Billy Kyle and Ken Dobo aka the original dobo
The Superman Building will finally be occupied again. The new owners reached an agreement with the city to make apartments, retail and office rentals in the Art Deco edifice, in 2022. Being Providence, this could take a lot of time. And money.
It probably does't hurt, that this is just down the street from RISD. If this had been Boston, it probably would have gone the way of the West End, leaving you with a monstrosity like the upside down pyramid they call City Hall...
You lost me when you referred to the former Industrial Trust/ Fleet Bank building as the Superman Building. This ridiculous name is outdated and silly. Most people today have no recollection of the Superman TV show and the Daily Planet building (Los Angeles City Hall) that appears in the opening. What ignoramus came up with that nonsense name anyway? Get over using that moniker.
@@smileprettymusic Us Rhode Islanders? I lived in RI for 37 years. I used to work in that building. The "Superman" name is from the 1950s. It's really dumb. Move on.
Nick is not only an artist, he's a funny guy. Bring him back on occasion.
The coolest ever!!! Thanks again for letting us be a part of the process xx
Ahh Rhode Island, love it here.

Your content is really, really well made. Thanks for shining a light on this history. 👍
This is your best video yet. So sad it was demolished in 2005.
Thanks for the explanation wondered about this Facade and why it was there like this
Yo this is fucking crazy just looking at our history in PROV I really appreciate you for the I grew up 9n that side Rochambow library

it’s cool art but it just reminds me how frustrating this city is. it’s getting better but it’s so hard for new development.
Awesome video as always dude! Loved how you’re reaching out to other communities to get different takes from other artists

Love this! I walk by this every morning going to work. Thanks for the content!
So cool! Loved watching, as always

Thanks for this video! Wallis Howe was my grandfather-we’ve always been proud of his work.

Wow I love how you did the history. I can definitely see all the hard work you did on that. Awesome job!!
Actually learned something new today! Great Info! Awsome Video Quality!
🔥⭐🔥⭐🔥😎
These videos keep getting better!
In Berlin you find the still standing facade of a WW2-bombed train station.

Love your channel! It’s great to see fantastic artwork that’s available to the public
Dude your videos are on point. I don’t like notifications but I turned them on just for your channel!
🔥 sick drone shots

I used to work in that building for Industrial National Bank aka Fleet. That was their Trust Dept
Wow, short and sweet! Thanks Jason. I kinda like that smaller building that had the round structure on top.
Somehow I never knew that was just a wall and not a building. Can't wait to drive past it this weekend now.
Great video!

Another great video. Thank you.
Have you looked at iron horse park in Billerica?
Great videos. Thanks for sharing.
Considering that downtown Providence is notoriously susceptible to disastrous flooding from hurricane storm surges, I wonder how that affects new construction in the flood zone?
Love this so much
Good stuff - I used to walk by that facade every single day. Was always curious about its origins.
I also know the parking lot behind the facade is used often as a filming location, on a few occasions I’ve actually seen productions actively being filmed there!
Pigeon love!

Found this on reddit lol. Nice vid
Watching this in an abandoned paper mill 😂 every time you upload I’m watching it in a bando somewhere
Rhode island my hometown
Ohhh 1791 was the year Prov National Bank was incorporated. I was gonna say that looks very modern for 1791. 1929 makes more sense.

That was very cool. To bad the buildings was demolished for what turned out to be no reason. Could rebuild the building using the front.
So interesting!!
Did they not tear down the facade because the contract specified they had to keep it for the new building that never came ?
Right next to The Arcade
It’s a damn travesty they destroyed that building
I think you're confusing invisible with shallow
Who looks at a brass door and says, "Imma steal that"

Let me tell you something, Rhode island is greatest State in the f@cking would.....
It sure is I was born and raised here
When I was homeless..I've slept in there before it was all boarded up....
There is a difference between street art and vandalism. Street art is done with the land owner's consent. Vandalism is not.
I'm from Rhode island
Driven by the Turks head building thousands of times in my tenure in Rhode Island. Never knew this existed.
Should have kept the building.
I took pictures
Pigeon Lives Matter !
"I rescued a pigeon" spoken like a true gentrifier
Go to the hood
What parts are the " hood" of RI? Just curious.
They ruined it with the art
Post modernism is not art.

It’s what us Rhode Islanders call it, even the news refer it as the Superman building

drove pigeon to kingston and they twisted its head off and threw it a stew to feed dogs
I'm from providence Rhode Island. and that building is called the super man building
