      No doubt that Ghibli is essentially unchallenged - I'd argue they have an even better track record than Pixar.

    I still hope to see 'How do you live' at the 2022 Cannes film festival. Earwig might have been some kind of preparation for the new mysterious film. I belive that Miyazaki's film will be the last of the old beloved ghibli, and this new mysterious film will be the beginning of a new age. I feel a little bit sad, but time goes by.

    • @noahoskow4551
      @noahoskow4551 3 года назад +11

      I'd say that's likely correct - even if How Do You Live isn't their last traditionally animated film (which it hopefully won't be), it really does signal the end of Ghibli as it was. They never really managed to create a second generation that fully extolled the Ghibli spirit, even though some of their younger directors did create films worthy of the Ghibli name. Still wonder what would have happened if Kondo had been able to make more films...

    Hey 皆, hope you're all doing well! Some interesting stuff going on at Ghibli right now, so thought it would be worthwhile to make a bit of a news roundup video about it all! I still have a bigger (massive, really) Ghibli video I'm hoping to put together at some point - probably a few videos down the line, but looking forward to getting to it eventually. English subs will be up shortly!

      That’s because Ghibli still doesn’t do good CGI animation. Disney for example has amazing CGI animation, just watch Raya and the last dragon for example

    Honestly if after how do you live miyazaki truly retires it really might be the end of studio Ghibli's traditional 2d animation which is really sad because studio Ghibli will fail miserably if they try to become a 3d animated studio and may really shut down in future. 3d animation is beautiful if done properly as you can see in arcane series, spider verse and any pixar film but sadly studio Ghibli is way behind the competition they will not be able to compete with big 3d studios like pixar, disney because they are way too inexperienced in animating 3d. If they venture into 3d animation two things will happen first their loyal fanbase who loves their traditional animation will left them second they will need to gain a new fanbase which will unlikely happen considering the quality of 3d animation they put out on earwig. Whenever it comes to 3d people will always prefer to watch movies made by pixar and disney rather than Ghibli because these studios are animating 3d animation since the beginning of 2000-2001. They have a loyal fanbase of their own for 3d animation and studio Ghibli is not really that really that popular now as it was before cause they haven't put out a big popular movie in years, their recent movies are really underrated. So inevitably the studio may shut down if they start animating full 3d movies or might get bought by disney. I hope you understand this theory is my belive and it might not happen in the end if everything went all. So all we can do is hope for the best.

    Spirited Away is way different then Demon Slayer. You can't dethrone Spirited Away. Its the best movie of all time and will always be top in my book. Demon Slayer has nothing on Spirited Away. Demon Slayer is great but its a show not a movie.

    the moment this movie ends they should close ghibli doors, and let their reputation live forever, after miyazaki retires(for real) there will be not even 1 good director on ghibli studio, shure they can find some good directors to carry ahead the studio, but i feel like ghibli already did enough for animation and cinema story, without the 2 legendary directors that gave life to ghibli it wont be ghibli, let it end with a movie that the name questions everything you were to learn about ghibli, how do you live

      agreed. better to let it end than let it turn out like disney/pixar/dreamworks, all of those have released nothing but trash after their original creators left. all thats left is the name. id rather not have that happen to Ghibli too

      @UCqa8nGipUYt_T_liIE1u_ZA Uh, can't agree at all. His work is actually extremely varied - epic fantasy, personal drama, historical drama, small-scale nostalgic adventures, works focused on Japanese and foreign settings throughout the 20th century, movies aimed at a spectrum of ages with a spectrum of conflict levels. Even similar films contain major differences in tone and perspective. He has tropes and themes he returns to, but not one note at all.

    • @Khultan
      @Khultan 3 года назад

      @@NounOzlos Actually, I'm a foreigner and so are you. You're not Japanese and it wasn't made for foreigners in mind though it can be embraced. I respect Hayao Miyazaki, of course, and his place in traditional animation is secured and no he's not anachronistic but as I stated his subject matter storytelling is cemented heavily on sentimentality although I understand he early in his career he worked on the Lupin III tv series in the 1970s ( ? ). Hayao Miyazaki has his niche and it's good for him and fans.
      However, playing one type of note or melody gets mind numbing.

    • @NounOzlos
      @NounOzlos 3 года назад +6

      @@Khultan I'm afraid I don't understand why you're talking about our nationalities or anachronisms when that isn't what we're discussing. Seems a bit off-topic. You also never stated anything about sentimentality until now, although that's a pretty broad concept to call "one-note" across a wide array of films. By that measure, almost any single filmmaker with anything approaching a personal style could be called "one-note." I wouldn't say Miyazaki has a "niche" either, when his fanbase in Japan is basically as broad as a fanbase can get (i.e. most of the filmgoing public) and his appeal is incredibly broad beyond that domestic market. He's basically the least niche-y Japanese filmmaker out there.
