I was just thinking this today. The original 3 always had that feeling for me. Everything after 3 just feels goofy but the original trilogy was definitely creepy and serious.
First time I saw MK1 at an antique gaming place then called the _arcade,_ Raiden was the one that made the best impression on me. His design was clearly inspired from Big Trouble in Little China. He was so cool!
But Raiden's a good guy! He would never let such a thing happen to the Earth Realm he swore to protect! When the hell did that continuity get screwed up?

Test Your Might made for a fun (albeit brief) interlude between fights - it would've been cool to see variations on this in the sequels. My guess is since the sequels don't have a score system, and only "number of wins" tally, it was deemed redundant to have mini games between rounds.
This game is why the ESRB was formed due to it's extreme gore and violence. I wonder how the angry mothers coordinated the effort since Al Gore hadn't provided internet to every home in 1994. I was 6 years old when I got my Sega, playing this game and Sonic the Hedgehog all the time. Altered Beast was cool too, and countless others.
Yeah this one is really the best I wonder why they didn't make costumes of this type of raiden I think that costume would be the best some people at home have to make homemade costumes of this

Like it's the most unrealistic thing to me.
It must really make Goro and Shang Tsung feel bad that each of them were champion for 500 years. All they needed to do was win just "one more" tournament, and the mission would have been accomplished. But, they couldn't do that and needed to start all over.

I will NEVER forget my cousin and I playing MK3. One time he was playing against the AI and was defeated but somehow at the "finish him" part he was still playing ! The best part tho is when he went over and punched the other character my cousins character finally collapsed! We laughed so hard at that. Only happened that one time.

Reptile's fatality in UMK3 is one of the worst offenders in this. Every body part eaten screams, despite the head being eaten first.
