- I ended up in the world's worst airport hotel - the JFK Inn at New York JFK Airport, as part of my latest travel challenge - to fly to as many cities as possible in 24 hours! I took the British Airways Airbus A380, Jetblue Embraer E190, United Airbus A320, Southwest Boeing 737 and British Airways 747 to visit Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, St Louis and New York in one crazy day!

I've got to say that no matter how much that awful room cost after opening the door, seeing that depressing room and that awful smell I wouldn't even put my bags down...you're more forgiving than I Noel.:)
One consolation at least you avoided room 3...a bijou cupboard under the stairs, incorporating a lovely 1960's sleeping bag that's never been washed.
Noel, you certainly go that extra mile for us subscribers and all jokes aside it doesn't go un-noticed or appreciated by the vast majority, a massive thank-you for all your vids they are truly excellent.

Having lived in the DC Metro Area for basically my entire life, I agree. Watching a foreigner wander around a place I'm so familiar with is really entertaining. Especially since he happened to be there during setup for a barbecue festival.

@@brianevans656 i was there yesterday, the entrance to terminal A (i believe the oldest one) looks beautiful and so does the exterior, but the gate i was at was a thing hallway that had 200 people in it, and ofc we were delayed by over an hour, I've seen how the new terminal is looking, and its amazing

I know this is an older video so you might know this about Southwest by now.
I have fibromyalgia and lupus. After clearing security go to your gate and ask for a medical preboard card. This allows the disabled person plus one (and kids if you decided to bring them.) To board first.
They are amazing with getting a wheelchair for you even if you didnt request one at booking or check in.
Once I was traveling alone with my then 2 year old and fell banging my knee. First aid was given to prevent an autoimmune flare as much as possible. They called ahead for a wheelchair while we were still in the air.
Well we were late and the last flight landing for the day. So no porters to bring a wheelchair. A ground crew person hijacked a wheelchair and left it at the gate with the promise to come push me as soon as the luggage was offloaded. Didn't need to wait. The pilot pushed me and purser carried my daughter who was dead asleep. She felt my daughter's weight might add to a flare due to her personal experience with a family member with fibromyalgia.
They delivered us to my waiting husband at baggage claim and insisted walking us the few hundred feet to disabled parking.
I fly Southwest the most and have had no complaints. There have been lost or damaged bags and they are replaced or money given to solve the problem.
I agree with you. I have some problems with my knees and once while my husband and I traveled to New Orleans we did a lot of walking, my knee flared up and I was forced to buy a cane while there to give me some support. When my husband and I checked in to return home, the desk agent gave me a handicap card instantly. I never asked for it. I loved it and was able to get on the flight first because of it. I didn't even ask for it. I will fly with them again when we get a chance.
Southwest is definitely the best airline in the US.

I’ve driven past the JFK INN many times but I would never ever consider staying there. Not even as a last resort. And I’m not a hotel snob by any means. Noel, you’re a brave man, that is one trashy hotel. To be fair, none of the JFK airport hotels are particularly good and certainly not a good value (with the possible exception of the TWA Hotel) but you picked just about the worst of the bunch. Pro tip, at least try and stay with chain you’ve heard of, and trust they’ll have some sort of standard - even if not a very high one. At least you can leverage some points or a free stay somewhere else if things really don’t go well. But places like the JFK INN are the domain of people of the night, owned and run by people who just don’t care, and it’s full of ‘guests’ who don’t normally stay at hotels but have no other choice. I have to admit I laughed at Judge Judy being blasted from the room next door but somehow it also fits the cliche of that type of hotel better than any words ever could.
Oh, by the way, you were almost over my house at 11:41 - and in a bit of fortuitous foreshadowing, there was a glimpse of Judge Judy just a few seconds later! Ha
It was certainly a fun experience, but not one to be repeated! I can stlil smell it now 😂
PS, Their website also has a virus. My computer blocked me. I would of slept in my car

Noel taking us to the realistic side of travel - the not-quite-five-star places and travel methods - is intriguing in my opinion. Some other Tubers seem to want to just highlight how posh lifestyle they have managed to build.

Southwest can't be beat. For domestic flights in the US.. It's really amazing what they do for the price. I've flown from Chicago to Denver for 50 bucks. Chicago to Tampa Florida for 100... During vacation season. No extra charges, very flexible and the nicest crew you'll ever meet.

Noel, I want to thank you so much for these fascinating and extremely entertaining flight videos. I really admire your courage and ability and appreciate so much that you have the privilege of being able to fly and travel to so many places and film for enjoyment so many incredible trips. It has really made me wish I could even begin to travel again after 2020 being such a bad year. Had to totally cancel three of my own trips and can only dream of getting confidence and freedom back post covid & post brexit sometime soon. You are a truly amazing guy. I've throughly enjoyed every one. I really wish I had a stomach like yours, and could sleep as well as you have even in my own bed sometimes let alone pilot as you have done (a PPL holder I am mysrlf also for many years). How are they allowed to have a hotel that vile and creepy and keep it opened? I was so disgusted. I mean it wasn't even clean. I wouldn't have stayed there. Noel you're braver then me. Looks like some of the dives I stayed in when I was ski racing every week. We stayed in some pretty bad motels .

Loved it where you talked about the reasons for doing these - particularly one reason was that you thought it would be nice/beneficial for anybody who had never experienced flying (for whatever reason) who could see the beautiful cities or scenery from the air, travelling around/ different countries etc and not just all the usual reasons for these kind of vlogs. I would have loved for my late Gran to have been able to have sat back in her armchair and watched these. Keep up the good work! 💜

I'm from NY and live close to JFK. You stayed in the sketchiest hotel/motel around! Hope you didn't catch bed bugs. Try Marriott or Holiday Inn next time right off the Van Wyck next to one of the main entrances to the airport.
Yes, either stay at Hilton Garden Inn, Marriott or holiday inn. I do not stay in lower call hotels or roach motels.

That's what I always hated about travel in the USA: airports that have seen better days, airport hotels that make you feel like in a horror movie (I've stayed at Motel 6 on Century Blvd. LAX), depressing cab rides to and from the airport etc.

If it’s anything like the seedy motels I’ve been in, they usually reek of cigarettes and cat piss. My entire luggage smelled of it after I stayed in one.

These videos are amazing, will never forget my 1st flight between Manchester and Palma aboard a Britannia Airways 767, the flight which got me into aviation, I go spotting at Manchester(I'm from Leeds, but I don't know if you've flown from Leeds Bradford, but its not very good) I would love to do what you do, and I think what you do as well, and I don't know if you've realised this, your also helping people who are afraid of flying, by showing them how safe it is. Day’s inn is a nightmare! I once stayed in one, no hot water, WiFi was broken, cigarettes were left sitting on the breakfast counter, simply a nightmare

Cool video. Low cost in the US is far better than low cost in Europe, JetBlue is by far one of my favourite airlines.
It's strange isn't it, normally US airlines are nowhere near as nice as the rest of the worlds. But low cost in the US is something else - better than almost anyone (except maybe Norwegian).
yeah I agree that normal US carriers such as Delta, American and United are pretty poor compared to other airlines in the world. I'd rather go low cost with jetBlue than fly with Delta on short haul route in the states, and it would also be cheaper.

Every time I travel overseas (pretty often for work), the first thing I do when I get back to Chicago is eat pizza. It's incredibly comforting after traveling, especially on the long trips.
Love your videos Noel, especially ones like this and your other challenges and different videos combining flight reviews but those combined with something a bit different
A great video and thanks for explaining why you do these videos. It is lovely that you are English as I am too. Therefore I get valuable tips from you. I also love seeing the other nationalities. I am keen on travel and seeing places in the world. I travel with my 10 year old daughter and my 12 year old disabled son who is in a wheelchair. Due to pushing his wheelchair it is a challenge to carry all our luggage. Many people in a wheelchair are not able to travel.
