    Thank you very much Bob learned a lot. Dark Aeris tried to explained me the oversampling many time and never got it. The way you explained it, I totally understand now, I use to hate those decimal HSIZE, and I can just bypass them. Hate dealing with the phase too haha 😁

    Ah I see you use VCS in this tutorial. VCS can do pretty much anything Vision can do and has nice extra features. You can save your video and colour settings so you don't have adjust for every console. The VCS window also has features such as a magnifying glass that allows you to dial in settings better. Video scaling can help with that too.

    Amazing as always bobert. The diamond hd 1000 I have records up to 1080i (1080p is finicky and not supported). It does 480i(s-video) well, see my vids on 3do and Saturn that are not upscaled. Pretty clean looking kinda, I didn't see any 15khz drop shadows.

    Hello Bob, I was re-watchingthis video and since I already had a desktop pc I want to follow this solution, but im didnt find the scart to DVI adapter thats you showed on the video, did you know where i can buy it? The manufacter page seems thats not produce it anymore. Thanks in advance

      I think Insurrection Industries is out of stock. It's an open source project though, so you can make your own if you'd like. Hopefully they'll get more in stock at some point.

    Need help resolving issue with noise:
    Equipment:
    Windows 10, 7700k, 1080ti, 32gb ram
    Datapath Vision E1S
    Voultar Double Penetrator SD (LP Filter Off)
    Tripp Lite DVI-I Cable
    SNES Csync SCART from Retro Access
    SNES 1 chip
    Vision software, OBS Studio 64 bit
    So I follow your directions to the letter. However, my OBS can't seem to display XRGB. When I select it, my capture freezes. When I try any other video format, there is a lot of noise and shimmering, no matter how I set the phase.
    I am going to try tweaking best I can, but do you know any reason why it wouldn't display XRGB? What was your setup when you did this video?

    Any good way of capturing games with different resolutions in them like 480i menus/240p gameplay or 256x240 gameplay/320x240 menus (like in castlevania sotn)?

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  5 лет назад

      There's no perfect way. Many people like to split their signal (gscartsw?) and game on a CRT while streaming through one of those cheap SCART-to-HDMI boxes. It's not the best looking solution, but since it incorrectly processes 240p as 480i, there's no dropout between resolution changes. As long as you're actually gaming on a CRT, all the lag it introduces won't matter, as it's just being sent to your capture card.

    • @ENunn
      @ENunn 5 лет назад

      @@RetroRGB well i don't mind if it aint "perfect" by any means. ive been capturing from my ossc and i wanted to see if there was a capture device that would at least not freak out when a transition happens. my elgato hd60s blacks out and sometimes doesn't come back up until i hotplug the device.

    I'm very close to having this very same setup for recording and streaming, but I'm primarily looking to use component video solutions for my retro consoles. Are there any decent 1 input 2 output component splitters that exist out there? I found a few, but they don't claim to accept 240p signals. My plan is to connect a console to the splitter, and send one of the outputs to the Datapath, while sending the other through a RetroTink and into the TV, but I may need to move the RetroTink between the console and splitter if none of them accept 240p.

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  3 года назад +1

      I think it would be cheaper and easier to go direct into the TINK and use an HDMI splitter.

  • @NightSprinter

    Something odd, apparently if in either AmaRec or OBS, entering 4x the input resolution from my Nt Mini's RGB out gives me an extremely crisp image.

  • @James-nj8gx

    You could run your screen at a lower resolution through windows and get the same effect Bob.

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  5 лет назад +1

      The blurriness of running an LCD at anything other than it's native resolution may effect how phase in the window looks.

    • @James-nj8gx
      @James-nj8gx 5 лет назад

      @@RetroRGBI think that would also be dependant on the chosen res compared to native and the quality of the display.
      Addit: also your quality should rgb quality yeah? So you know the capture is fine, therefore you really are only viewing it as a sample window, so the decreased res causing blurriness is not really an issue if you are aware of the effect of the monitor. The capture will still be quality. Then you can swap your widescreen 4k monitor back to full res for work flow. I guess I'm just saying I don't see the need for the low res monitor. But maybe I'm missing the point.

    8:32 - That's not latency from the vision window, that's the SNES's Mortal Kombat 1 game with native input lag, cause Probe did a wonderful job optimizing the SNES's CPU on this port.... I still love the SNES MK1 though and played the crap out of it when I was a kid, I can't stay mad at the game.

    Great video. Alternatively, can the scart2dvi adapter output to HDMI via a DVI to HDMI adapter? And if so, would the audio be extracted from Scart or does the audio get split to the aux cable regardless? Thanks!

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  5 лет назад

      The SCART2DVI is NOT a scaler - It's a passthrough device that sends SCART through the analog pins of a DVI-I connector: www.retrorgb.com/scart2dvi.html

    So Bob I could use Voultar’s SD double penetration or this component from Insurrection correct?

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  5 лет назад +1

      You can use Voultar's DP for 240p & 480i. You can technically use it for higher resolutions, but the LPF won't work. The Comp2DVI that Insurrection will be offering will have an LFP that handles from 240p to 1080p. The current SCART2DVI also only supports filtering of 240p/480i, but we may eventually upgrade it.

    Have you tried this setup with a DVI cable instead of plugging the board directly into the computer? Do you think hooking it up with 6 feet DVI cable would result in any quality loss, stutter, dropped frames, etc.?

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  5 лет назад

      Depending on the DVI cable, it might make things darker, as it would change the total resistance of the output.

    I guess this could also work with the RGB input on the USB3HDCAP from Startech AKA the north american Micomsoft xcapture-1 with crappy drivers. Thoughts?

    • @RetroRGB
      @RetroRGB  5 лет назад

      You probably could, but remember that capture card compresses the colors the same way the Framemeister does. If you already own the USB3HDCAP, go for it. If not, I'd suggest buying a different capture card.

    • @RetroRGB

      Yes, because of the sync voltage and the low-pass filter. Check out the other, longer video for a description of why.
