    As a Silver player, this guide was *so* good. I find that most guides spend most of their focus on builds and micro tactics/combos. As a Diamond+ player, these things may be all you need, but the amount of time you spend on breaking down mindset and the "why" behind tactics (with multiple examples) is incredibly helpful for me. Thanks for creating the Vi guide I've been trying to find for a long time!

    Nice guide! I like the depth of the guide, and I am definitely guilty in doing some of the ‘no-no’s from time to time, so this is a good opportunity to become more aware of those (walking it in instead of charging Q too early, holding R mini-game). I would like to add that R can be used to buffer CC. Might have missed it, but I didn’t notice Nathan mentioning it( let’s say you have a Nami ult coming towards you, for example).

    Super useful guided Nathan, thanks a lot for this. Vi never really clicked with me at a strong level. Even though I felt a lot of this I couldn't always put it to words and concepts. So it helps a lot when you clearly articulate it and give examples. Especially the bit about Vi being a champion that creates pressure and can lock down carries. That is for sure a great mindset when playing her and new to me.

    Im rewatching this and I want to share my experience with this excellent guide:
    the most important advice for me was the "Close as much distance with walking". My ganks got so much better after that.
    The distance to the enemy got too small, they couldnt escape anymore and the Q hits 99% (or they use flash etc. and then the Q hits which is even better).

    16:25 for the raptors, you can hit all of them with your Q by targeting the farest small one in the direction between the nearest two. So if you have your Q and run towards raptors, you can charge it for max and then release and hit all the raptors, and this is the fastest way to start clearing this camp.

    Hi! Love the guide and learned a ton, can't wait to implement this in my Vi games.
    Nathan, I had a question about your Q flash usage and wanted to ask. If I'm not mistaken, it looks like from most of your own clips, you're using Q charge, flash, Q release to flash combo. I am wondering if there was a specific reason you're doing that, as I'm pretty sure that Q charge, Q release, and flashing the hitbox to connect after Qing is slightly faster (and much harder for opponents to counterflash if they're using your flash sound cue to counterflash). Another benefit is that it lets you land Q on backline targets who are behind a tank, since you can Q towards them and then flash OVER the tank once you're in range to connect on a carry. My understanding is that it works the same way as Gragas body slam, Shen taunt, etc. Is there a reason you're choosing to Q charge - flash - Q release instead of flashing during the Q dash animation instead? Is it just consistency/difficulty, or is there another reason that I'm missing?
    Thanks, appreciate your guide, especially a lot of the pathing details! It was super helpful for making sense of the early game plan.

    • @sivolock259
      @sivolock259 Год назад

      As an example, I'm thinking specifically of this clip ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxamyfQDCwgAzI29Jvjb_G5qJD_q-gGP6z where you're chasing Taliyah. You end up Q charging, then flashing before Q release, which stuns you on Taliyah E rocks since she buffered the animation during your Q charge. I think if you are Q flashing, you either beat her to the punch if she's slow (and connect Q before she can E, in which case she's definitely losing after you R her W knockback since you won't come out stunned), or she beats you out with E (but if that happens, it will trigger during your Q dash BEFORE you've input flash, so you'll get stunned before you commit flash and can back out of the play and ult near the top side of the fight). In the 2nd situation you can just bail out and use flash and R on the other side of the fight, but in the 1st situation I'm pretty sure you can convert the kill (a bit hard to tell since the fight is chaotic). It's possible that the pick is still just conceptually not good to go for, given the nature of the fight setup, but I wonder if the pure 1v1 interaction becomes winnable with Q charge - flash - Q release instead of Q charge - Q release - flash.
      If you are actually Q release - flashing there, my apologies. It's a bit hard to tell in the replay since even Q charge - flash - Q release comes out pretty fast, but I think Q charge - Q release - flash is still slightly faster (and can create a flash mind game situation like Gragas jungle body slam ganks).

      @nathanmott  Год назад +2

      Yes, you're right. I should be doing more Q release into Flash, like Gragas E Flash combo. It's harder for enemy to dodge. I believe it's more difficult to time it?
      I didn't end up doing it any of my games but thats a good next step to improve my Vi.

    56:26 for the low elo, if you are really good on Vi, the best 1v9 build is pure glasscannon lethality+crit. Building health and resists is redundant if you know how to position yourself and do maximum damage. Plus, you have Edge of Night to save you from random skillshot and a shield from Eclipse

    With Gromp you can proc your passive with Auto + E right before gromp hits you, keeping you healthier and killing it sooner with the auto cancel from your E.
    Also if your passive is up, wait until your W is about to proc, and hit the 3rd one with an abilitie to maximize your passive's cooldown reduction !

      Shojin is half effective on Vi Q and doesn't do anything for W and R. Only get full value on E, not as important. Better off getting Black Cleaver.
      Shojin isn't as good as a 3rd/4th/5th item. Would rather have items like DD, GA, Sterak, Thorn, better for teamfights midgame.

    As a Vi onetrick player there were some problems with your guide. Firstly, if you perfectly use the passive against blue, red, gromp and sometimes krugs, you can take 2 attacks to the shield instead of just one like you did in the guide. Instead of smiting gromp first then attacking it on the first clear, try to auto attack it once then immediately E it. I also like to smite the first Buff so i can have a quicker lvl 2 and higher DPS. Also try to hit both krugs with your Q.

    53:52 this is the most fatal mistake to buy chainsaw on Vi. You have two CC abilities and you need extra tankiness in fights, so you benefit much much more from the thornmail. Whenever I don't play Vi and see my Vi is building chainsaw I start thinking of free lose and most of the time it is.

    Yo, i dont know, to me there is some miss informantion on this champ, for exemple, the rank 1 Vi in the world already discarded the chempunk, New tank item legendary, cuz First she is a niche pick, if u need a tank engager, Just pick something Else, of u get 4/0 and build tank u are wasting her snowball Power on a utility build when u should bê picking off, she can one shot most mid laners and adcs after 2 Ad itens, they do Make this tanky build in pro play because of team sinergy and coordenation, Vi does not fit in this "tank" meta, she lacks base tank stats compared tô other fighters and tank junglers Will have a way better time at engaging, dealing damage and CCing, if u gonna hit the wall, hit It hard, dont try to bê the wall, u Will Just waste her potential.

    its insane how master players are unable to get mvps in their wins, this only proves how much you're getting carried tbh

      do they actually need to? league is about killing the nexus and consistently making right micro and macro decisions to achieve that, not about kills, being an mvp or whatnot

      @@bohdanvinter6929 ofc not when you're trash in the game xD there are very few good challenger players out there that consistently carry and deserve to be in that elo. wrong, 90% of throws/defeats in league are because of the simple law of being outnumbered in a specific fight because a team member is not present or died earlier for no reason or recalling when the whole group is ready.
    This is not something an individual can fix, there is nothing you can do about it.
    In my experience almost 90% of the mid/late game fights a team lost bec they were outnumbered, not because our team was better. This is how you win or lose in league, simple as that, and there's nothing you can do about it.

    • @witcherpie

      you can tell me to stop forcing plays with missing team mates, ye sure but recalling when drake up and prio bot is plain autistm for example, I'd rather risk the play than give in to the stupid play of a member.
