I wish he had touched on transgender people specifically. Most people assume that LGB (lesbian, gay, bisexual) people have issues with their gender identity - they generally do not; their issue is with who they are sexually attracted to, BUT people assume this is connected with their gender identity because to be atteacted to one's own sex (or gender - these are related, but different), is something people assume to be an indicator of gender identity BECAUSE people are looking at all of this from a heterosexual perspective. In a nutshell, sexual orientation is about "who you want to sleep with," while gender identity (the concern of "T" folk in the LGBT community) is about "who you live as..."
I am a woman who occupies the blurry space between intersex and transsexual though I was birth-assigned male.
...In my case, I never developed a male persona, a male ego. Part of my transition into womanhood involved solidifying my female ego and permitting it to exist. Once I had my healthy female ego formed, I began to transcend it; I am still a woman, but I am so secure in my womanhood that now I can simply be a human being, with her own mode of being that blends the best of both genders. In fact, some people after conversing with me for a while are both comfortable in my expression of womanhood, yet also sense that I am beyond male and female, somthing they have called "Bretta-gender."
    Love, Blessings & Joy!! 😊❤

@@yomama...isaverynicelady Oh John, I saw you below every single comment here of a transgender or a gay person. The reason why one wants to disidentify from the ego/mind is to stop the suffering (as Eckhart Tolle would also tell you), and NOT so they could manage to fit in into some social norms. Just because you transcend the ego does not mean that you have to be like everyone else here on Earth. You've either totally misunderstood Tolle's message or you're doing this purposefully for which I kinda feel sorry for you, because this means that your happiness greatly depends on what other people are doing or choosing which is ultimately none of your business lol. Admit that YOU could be wrong John, it's okay my friend :)

@@m.7877 The same people who claim one should reject all identity cling to false identities. They seem to mean one should reject natural identity. A man from India doesnt need to identify as an Indian. He just is an Indian. He shouldnt force it, nor reject it. A woman doesnt need to go around bragging nor complaining about being a woman. She just is one and to be in the now she ought to just accept the reality and not force it nor reject it. It aint about fitting so called social norms. Its about living in reality and in the present.

Hi, have some questions regarding this, as I have pondered these issues for some time. Being that we both listen to Eckhart, we have some common ground. In light of the spiritual perspective, if your body is male, what part is it that is female? Following that the ego is but a mental construct, and we are in essence consciousness, where does the gender split happen? can the consciousness be female in a male body? As far as I've understood, the consciousness is formless and transcends all categories. Is there another part of our essential being that has a gender apart from the body?

What he said at the end about someone not fitting in as being a good thing because it allows you to go beyond the conventional roles just hit me, (in a good way) My mother always used to stress how important it was to "fit into society" and it seems like I just balked at it in a lot of ways. That has allowed me to be introduced to people like Eckart Tolle. My sibling went into a very conventional way of life with very little room for being different and it seems as if after all these years he has not grown much. I am the one that looks like she is kind of kooky but I know I'm not. Actually I feel very blessed to be this way

I love this man. This has helped me through a rough panic attack at some point and still helps me to see my own sense of gender. It used to make me freak out! Not so much anymore. :) It's still an exploration but it doesn't scare me anymore, the possibility that I'm 'different' from others. I suffered so much when I was younger. I think a lot of us did.

    • @jayykayy3590
      @jayykayy3590 2 года назад +6

I did too. I suffered so much growing up. I suffered great fear of what my cousins and my family and my friends would think of me. Not that I was completely gay, but I was more feminine than your average boy growing up. I found satisfaction in dressing in feminine wear as young as 8 or 9 years old. I put on silk bikini bottoms that were really small so they were able to fit me at that age and I remember playing outside and the neighbors seen it and he was older than me and started teasing me. He didn't really hang out with me after that. But then I grew up so different, I also grew up in a Christian church with shamed any sort of gay or bisexual. But I'm at a point now in my life where I know for a fact I'm with the native Americans call two Spirit. And two spirit is beautiful, I realize that it's not just women, but I also love and as well. I would say that I'm more attracted to women though. But I've never hooked up with a man yet. It has to be deep loving and spiritual if I allow that. If I open myself up and become vulnerable in front of another male, he has to be full of unconditional love and on a quest of healing like I am. Thank you for your comment, it does give me comfort to know there's others like me. Mine's a little different than your average kid that grows up and realizes he's gay. Because I grew up loving women myself and still do. But now I realize I have attraction for both genders. And I know the universe will send me the right man to explore and to open myself up and be vulnerable.

    I'm a trans women.
Medically transitioning cured me of gender dysphoria, and connected me with my body in an immeasurable way, it was pure healing.
I have always recognised my transness, and just accepted it as being just the way of it.
I believe identity and sexuality have to be understood and fulfilled by us as individuals, but in our culture (largely to do with bigotry and social control) concepts around identity and sexuality have become some what warped out of context and embellished.
Obviously these issues intersect with the human general state of disconnection most people suffer.
Being trans and non dualist has helped me so much to understand my connection to reality.
As long as we don't put down one fake mask of self perception/identification, only to pick up another one that replaces it.
When we aren't authentic about who or what we are, and when we believe what the mind tells us , everything is out of whack contextually.
I found it way more real and rewarding to just be free, and not to "identify" as anything, but I couldn't have gotten to this point without solving my medical and social issues.
Now, I really don't believe in identity beyond the surface level of what it is. Being trans enabled me to understand just how fake, constructed, and fear based the world really is.
Ultimately, I've been liberated from such beliefs as part of this process, which in effect what its all about.
This is why I feel such a deep level of gratitude to the universe for being trans and having that enhanced opportunity to step out of my thoughts and beliefs, and realise the eternal connection which is always with us even if we aren't with it...

As a trans woman myself I relate. Most of this world does not realize that we all have the trinity of sexual self expression, it is sexual by nature because we are a sexual energy in condensed matter. It is mental (sexual orientation), emotional (masculine/feminine aspects of emotion) and physical (the look of our body, the way it should look and what charcteristics its supposed to project out into the world). Gender is really an anchor within the realm of frequency consciousness that seeks proper embodiment as a vehicle through which emotions and attractions to the outside world can be expressed in the most unobstructed way.

I’m also a trans woman it took me nearly sixty years to accept that truth. For most of my life no other person knew my secret. I kept my female self locked away so deep in my mind I was able to hide the truth from everyone especially myself. My male ego wouldn’t allow me to see the truth. It wasn’t until I started to remember my past life as a woman that I was able to accept that I’m transgender in this life. For most of my life my mind and body have been at war with each other. About a year and a half ago I started HRT (hormone replacement therapy). My mind is finally at peace with my male body.

  • @TheGiantRobot

A potentially career ending question for an honest "guru." He answered it so well. I didn't expect this. I am impressed. I see a lot of confusion in the comments. He's saying stop worrying about your gender - how your genitals line up with your gender beliefs doesn't matter. Let go of those attachments. Be yourself. This is something young people especially need to know, because they are getting some weird, rigid messages today.
If I entered a culture where men wore dresses and painted their nails, guess what? I'd wear that. Why? Because I don't care about culture, it doesn't change who I am. I wouldn't get an operation on my body so I could keep wearing blue jeans. And if I didn't mind standing out, I'd just keep wearing my blue jeans. Cutting up my body or taking on an affectation? No, that's not being real and it isn't self acceptance.
And when he says male and female are getting closer, he's not saying physically, he's talking about gender roles. We are relaxing gender roles and being more ourselves - some of us. Others are getting fixated with gender in their controlling behavior - call me the right word, let me tell you my particular sexual identity or non-identity - this isn't healthy, it isn't freedom.

It is very difficult for many thinkers to imagine that homosexuality exists. This is because diversity is not taught within the church, upbringing and school. Homosexuality has always existed and is a natural variation. It is what it is. To counteract this is the same as complaining that the sun shines every day. Not accepting, that which is, is harmful and degrading for the person concerned.

The homosexuality exists and without doubt it is normal, starting with the obvious in the animal world . Brilliant answer. He always seems to hit the nail on the head with tough questions and his answers always resonate with me.
A follow up to his answer from a psychology perspective- I think the most important thing a human can do is be their authentic self. This sense of self we feel inside, even if it may be an illusion, is the person we feel like we are internally, but many times we don't show that to the world, or worse, we come up with a reactionary identity. A sort of "fake" identity, that pleases people, family, work, society, etc., and our "real self" goes into hiding, but that inner voice to come out still remains.
A great exercise I am just starting to follow is this- In any given situation, ask yourself, "what would my ideal version of myself do or say?" And whatever the answer is, do that. This will train your brain for your real self to shine through.
Just my take. Hope it helps

Basically we are all beings given either a physical male or female vehicle but we are neutral in the way that in essence we are neither male or female.
I think majority are conditioned to societies rules where you have to be and act with what gender you were born and must be attracted to the opposite sex.
Yet Eckhart has opened my eyes to the epiphany that our souls are neither male or female so is why a lot of people are attracted to the same sex, or feel otherwise.

Meaning, as soon as we label a person into this or that little box, we instantly forgot the true nature hiding behind the form of this being.

Even when I learn a lot of tings or confirm others from master Tolle, wich I have discovered for a while,Beyond career ending questions could exist career ending answers also, potentially speaking . In the moment when you realise that what we call reality is no happening , is nothing but a huge and trmendeous play in wich nature is the orchestra and you have your part, among other beings and things ,wich above all of course your ego subordinates, you must admit that part includes the body and shell you are given , according to tht part wich is yours and the things you have to realise , obviosuly missing them.So there is an identity starting from your physical body wich is destinated to you and wich of course you could ignore, because your mind can everything ...an animal is not capable of.So if you are born in a culture, follow that culture, at least until you find out who you are...wich for the moment you have no clue, because everybody's wish is now just being different from the others or because you prefer to think you are an angel, as it happens to so many people starting to awaken . Or starting to make money out of this.Anyway, things wich have nothing to do with so called freedom.

I'm reading his The Power of Now and in the terms and framework introduced in this book the following can probably be derived. The gender is a part of objective is-ness. Resistence to is-ness is said to be a conflict with Being. Just like any other resistance to what IS. Acceptance and non-resistance need to be. Physical change of gender would be resistance to what is closer to Being than the mind - the body (the mind is said not to be a way to the Being, the connectedness with Now goes through the presence in your body, not in your mind). The body is the form in which the Being chose to manifest itself. Men and women are said to be needing each other because it is, quote "union with the opposite energy polarity. The longing for a end to duality, a return to the state of wholeness", even if a fleeting glimpse of wholeness as it's written there a bit further. Psychological or mind identity is said to be false and egoic whatever it is which simply makes it equally wrong to derive your sense of identity from you being straight or gay (psychologically), which he mentions close to the end of the video too. Basically, it seems like an issue from a different dimension from the one that is the foundation of his teaching

A lot of trans people are very identified with being trans. I say this respectfully as I am transgender and have fallen into this trap myself. They accept they feel like a different gender and that's part of their identity - identifying as that gender and not the one they were assigned at birth due to whatever anatomy they were born with but it goes beyond identifying as that gender and having a strong sense of self as being transgender. It is part of the lived experience but not your true self. Important to be authentic but not make it your deepest true sense of self. Some do identify as agender, having no gender but then it also becomes a strong sense of self.

Female identity, a feminine personality, has merits, a woman body in conformity with the woman mind is an unequaled asset. Big civilizations were built on such clarity and uniqueness.
Ambiguity is not chosen, between men and women, there is a huge spectrum of ambiguity, more of man, very less woman, like 80 percent man, 20% female, this does not present much problem to identify with regular roles expected of him. It becomes difficult to relate to expected role when the man body has a woman mind to the tune of 60 per cent and above, it is very difficult for this man body to execute expected role. It is not that the expected role is cruel or an insufferable joke, it is that we are being dismissive of a man not able to cope. In parallel a woman body and man persona too has difficulty asserting a male temperment, it would seem inappropriate for both regular man and woman for this female to assert her male.
Does being male or female have advantage in spiritual sphere? Both are equally placed. Some traditional societies have a problem with that. Though not all traditional societies.
Can gay/trans world produce spiritual people? Spiritual discourse is not about sexuality alone. Sex iis big impediment in gaining freedom from habitual compulsions, spiritual world is about resisting temptations, if you are not big enough to fight the faults that all men/women suffer you can not claim that leader status. A spiritual leader has made sex too insignificant, he is the opposite of an indulgent and discontent man. If it can be done by straight, it can be done by non straight too.

Being a touchy subject like this, I wouldn't be surprised if he was nervous. What he's talking about is "beyond the form". Talking about "beyond form" does not dismiss the form. The form still exists. But at the same time, the form does not exist. This can only be understood if you are conscious. Most people on this planet are not conscious (yet) so they will not even begin to understand what he's saying. What they will do instead is cherry pick his words to justify their egoic narrative. Eckhart is not dumb, he knows that people will cherry pick his words to justify certain narratives. So he's trying to find the middle ground of teaching where it can be taken in both ways.

I don't understand this: How can we all be the same one conciousness if we all are unique parts of this universe/conciousness manifesting itself? For example: one person might feel liberated being masculine and speaking loud (etc.) while some other person might feel liberated being pseudo femenine, being less assertive and having other gestures. Therefore, they are both expressing themselves different due to being in essence different and unique, yet they are the same one conciousness. Can't get this.

    • @user-ml6tx3es8c

You dont really have to understand anything, just feel when you feel connected as one! We can all be the same conciousness even though you see different manifestations of it. Male or female is a way smaller difference than a mouse and an elephant but still even though there are so many differences in form, form does not define us. It is not your gender, sexuality, age, amount of money, nationality, religion, look, work or even your thoughts or anything else that defines you. It is the conciousness behind that. Your true self is only in the now. Dont focus on differences, the ego loves that, because then you wont be able to see yourself as your true powerful and infinite self

Some thoughts on transgenderism light of this video talk.
If strongly identifying with a gender is a trap ( from an egoic point of view) , then wouldn’t that hold true even more so (in a way ) for transgender people who go to great lengths to create a new gender FORM ( appearance etc )? On the other hand however, the fact that they’ have ostensibly “ changed forms/genders” loosens the grip onidentity with both or either their old and their new gender !

    • @queengoblin
      @queengoblin 2 года назад

Yes. Trans people are here to transcend the idea of your sex matching your gender. Trans people who hate their bodies sex and attempt to transition are trying hard to identify as the gender they chose to identify with rather than embracing their bodies sex and the fact that it doesn’t match their gender expression. Trans people who are healthy have embraced their bodies sex as well as the gender expression they are most at peace with

You don't need to prove that to anyone. We are here to be beautiful living works of art and to experience that beauty and then leave. F.I.S.H. Paragraph 28.
Feminism is the penultimate evil at present because feminism is based on the misguided assumption that women are equal to or even superior to men. Although a female can exhibit superior traits, skills, etcetera, to some men, a woman can never have AUTHORITY over a man. Truth be told, no true man would ever descend to the level of accepting counsel from any of his subordinates. A man should fully obey his appointed masters and never emasculate himself by submitting to the dictates of a female.
Feminists are victims of the SLAVISH mentality which the instigators of that evil, pernicious ideology (Karl Marx and the so-called "Globalist Elite") have always wanted them to be.
It is EXTREMELY unfortunate that the vast majority of women are unable to see the obvious truth that feminist ideology wants the destruction of women (as well as all society) as can clearly be seen at present.
At least it is clearly seen by any decent, holy and intelligent person.
Due to feminist indoctrination and lack of proper discipline as a consequence of an increasingly atheistic world, modern women have become extremely debased. The typical woman nowadays is afflicted with bitterness, uncontrolled jealousy, gross immodesty, greed, arrogance, misery and loneliness due to a false sense of “independence”, with hardly a single noble quality.
In those gynocentric societies which are dominated by feminism, men are urged to avoid any unnecessary contact with the opposite gender. Those (heterosexual) males who disregard this sage advice will invariably regret their choices, either after experiencing false allegations against them, the destruction of their families through divorce or after constant rejection by snobby women. However, let it be made clear: the greatest enemy of males is not women but those uxorious "white-knight" "men" who do the bidding of feminist ideologues, since they have far greater power than females, despite being truly pathetic-excuses-for-men.

I'm a transsexual and I really disagree with Eckhart here. I think it's very unfortunate to tell young people who doubt their gender (to the extend that I experienced) to recommend more spiritual training and refrain yourself from an srs. You could also have more spiritual training and then no longer desire babies, material goods, a dog, whatever. But usually doing any of these is tolerated nevertheless. Somehow - when it's about transsexuality - different rules apply. One should refrain themselves from an srs? And why would anyone who feels strong about this reconsider? I'm the first to admit that femininity and masculinity is an ego manifestation (a manifestation that does go further than culture). But why should that mean that you cannot walk this road? It sounds as if it is 'wrong' to have an srs. It gave me peace of mind and it certainly helped me not to overanalyse gender anymore. How is that not a step in the right direction? In other words: you can do both.

I'm still confused, because he does explicitly talk about young people doubting their gender and he recommends spiritual coaching instead of... well, instead of what then?

I think he means instead of suffering and fear.

That's a possibility. I hope Eckhart gets to see these comments and maybe he can be more clear on the subject.

+77Merel he says that identifing with any gender is ego, no matter which one. So, he says that when someone doubts what gender ARE they, that identification is weaker, identification with form (and so easier to identify with awareness itself, the essence of who we are beyond form or gender) and that should be taken advantage of by trying to promote spirituallity, because not being so much identified with form (not knowing wich form you think you are, female or male) is less far away from identifing with awareness. But in the end, promoting spirituallity is always good, but he says specially here, because there is a bigger chance of losing identification with form when they dont define their identity with gender because they dont know wich one are they.

I love Tolle's words. But why does he charge so much for all his
seminars and courses? Why does he own over 100 million dollars? How is
charging people money for everything he does compatible with what he
    teaches?
    I find this very strange..

+Star Citizen Police I've thought about the same, it does seem weird. But as far as I know he's not really in charge of the foundation that organises all these events, he just gives the talks. Maybe he doesn't care too much for the business side of things and just lets the business people do what they do? Not sure. And apparently the foundation uses the money to spread the word in underserved communities.

I hope you are right Mari. Another thing that I have questioned, as much as I use Tolle's teachings every day, is his own application of them. How does he justify praising Oprah or Deepak, people who live in overwhelming luxury, drive supercars and buy diamond effects? The people who come to Tolle's gatherings are poor, many of them can't afford food or housing. How is teaching them to trust their fate and not seek fame or money good, while Tolle and his wife are earing 500.000$ from income at their gatherings?
I can't make the pieces fit here, guys. Please help me out. I refuse to believe that Tolle is deceiving people, but is he really surrounded by money grabbers? And how does he approve of that when he sees the suffering of his followers?

+Star Citizen Police I think money can only excite people for a while, but not cure inner suffering. At the same time I think that abundance (money or any other type of abundance) is not inherently bad, depends on how and why it comes to your life.

+The Forms I have never seen Tolle "teach to trust their fate and not seek fame or money." In fact, it's an issue he's clarified in several places that there is nothing wrong with seeking various expressions of "form," whether it be money or things. Your question is a very good one, though, and I wish there were more questions of that sort put directly to him, so he could clarify the situation better. It's my opinion - with very little information to go on - that Tolle is sincere. But he is now the centerpiece of a massive business enterprise. Just like with charities, children's hospitals, and countless "humanitarian" efforts, money is a fact of life. It's required to employ staff, pay expenses like offices, marketing, putting on retreats, etc. And, in fact, sometimes money is the only way to control access. If he put on retreats for now charge, no one would be able to get in. So many people would show up no one could benefit. And, another, less popular aspect, is that charging money can sometimes serve to separate the sincere for the not so sincere. Again, these is conjecture, and it's an issue I've certainly not come to terms with fully. But regardless of the machine around him handling the business, I believe Tolle to be a sincere man doing what he can to help change things for the better.

I have just moved on to listen to people who live quiet lives and don't take money. The fact that he lives very comfortably and has millions of dollars is very strange to me. I'm sorry. You can justify it however you like, I will take my spiritual guidance from myself (mainly), and others than Eckhart.

I am totally on board with Eckhart Tolle's view on this. Too bad that now also in the LHBTIQ community the ego took over in large parts. And that is all what the western world sees now, with all the pronounces, identity politics, war on language, the flags and extreme activists. It is sad to see, because this way, they are only creating more enemies :( I hope also in their community people will stand up and try to help the ego dissolve so all people will come together more.
