I couldn't even wait until the video was over, I paused it to call Trader Joe's and sure enough they had hellebores! I ran over and came back with some more to add to my collection; they're gorgeous! Brie #3 is my favorite, but I purchased all three varieties of the Ice Follies.
I love them all. They are beautiful. Good to see the teacher 👩🏫 side of Brie. When she wants something, she is persistent. 🤣 Jim is such a sport. Looks like you both understand each other.
I visited Pine Knot several times earlier this year. I picked up hellebores, Daphne, and pussy willow cuttings. I have been in love with hellebore plant for years. At one time I could not afford to purchase one; they were and are pricey. However, thanks to local friends, part-time jobs, and garden buddies my collection has grown immensely. The "Ice n Roses" variegated leaf collection is my favorite.
Show us the leaves! We gravitate towards any hellebore with variegated foliage, like from Rodney Davey. But we are hoping more cultivars will become available, particularly with outward facing flowers.
Even before I saw the funny outtakes, I knew Jim would struggle with that line. Jim is uptight and Brie is laid back. This equals a winning combo. Love you guys!
Great vid. It’s really hard to pick a favorite, but I think the elegant fluffy Brie #3 wins it for me. Love the giggles in the outtakes, you guys are a hoot. Thanks for the animal action shots, too, it’s great to see Holly any time you can get her in!
Sinking hellebore ? It sound like you both are saying stinking hellebore . Definitely got my attention and now I want more hellebores in my garden🤗. Love your new channel . Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
I'm super excited my hellebores from last year actually came back this year. I'd love to add one that would keep its heads up! My vote is Brie 3 & Jim 1.
Love that you guys featured Pine Knot! I ordered back in January and am looking to receiving my order soon. Got 2 of the foetidus 6 packs as well as a Frostkiss “Penny’s Pink.” Really looking forward to planting them.
yee haw - hellebores !!!! my favs are Brie 1-2-3 and Jim 1-2-3 ... just like camellias, how do you pick a favorite? can you have too many? Every time I see a new one I just Have to have it !!!
Love that you have combined your talents for this venture! My favorite is Brie’s 3 and Jim’s 2. Brie, you mentioned mounding your soil around the plants as you have very wet growing conditions. Strange but true...One of the highest parts of my garden remains wet. What do you suggest to mound your plants with? I wouldn’t think native soil as that is what is holding the moisture.
You two are so funny together. And Jim, you are allowed to say "get" twice in the same sentence. We allow it. LOL!! (Edited to add: You guys are saying "Stinking" hellebore but wording says "Sinking". Which is it?) (Edited again: Google search.. Stinking because the leaves smell yucky when crushed.)
I wished I lived closer and could visit Pine Knots, but your video was great! I ordered from them not that long ago so this makes me even more excited! Brie3
Lovely plants! I wish I could have more of them! As it is, I am on the fence of giving out, the 3 I acquired last fall. Word of caution-Hellebores are extremely poisonous to pets! A friend gifted me some of hers. I happily planted them! Two days later my cat got violently ill. Vomiting, and all that fun stuff. Isolated himself, didn't eat, or drink anything for 2 days. Trip to the vet... etc. It took me a while to put the two and two together. Now, I don't know if he has learned a lesson...., or if I should offer the plants to a friend and enjoy them in her garden....because I don't want a repeat....*sigh*
Thanks! I love the outtakes too 🤣 I should have taken a picture of the name because it did not register in my head. I was really over stimulated with so many choices!
I have always heard hellebores don't work in zone 9. Are these new varieties that will work in zone 9? Are they perennials in zone 9? I would love to try them.
That’s a good question- I’ve not really noticed them in Pensacola, but I’ll ask a gardening friend who lives there! I know you can grow camellias really well!
Brie 2 and Jim 1. I like the simple leaf form and the purple, but a bright white is so welcome on a cold, rainy day.
1. Brie 2
2. Brie 3
3. Jim 2
Hellebores are most definitely one of my favorite perennials.
I couldn't even wait until the video was over, I paused it to call Trader Joe's and sure enough they had hellebores! I ran over and came back with some more to add to my collection; they're gorgeous!
Brie #3 is my favorite, but I purchased all three varieties of the Ice Follies.
My favorite is Brie #3. Beautiful!
I love them all. They are beautiful.
Good to see the teacher 👩🏫 side of Brie. When she wants something, she is persistent. 🤣 Jim is such a sport. Looks like you both understand each other.

Show us the leaves! We gravitate towards any hellebore with variegated foliage, like from Rodney Davey. But we are hoping more cultivars will become available, particularly with outward facing flowers.
Jim (1) and Brie (2)....your outtakes are adorable. Thanks for the video, y'all!

You guys are too funny! Favorites are: 1) Brie 3 and 2) Jim 2.
I just went to their hellebore festival a couple of weeks ago. Lots of goodies bought for my woodland garden.
Brie 3 is my favorite!
Can yall do a video about the 17-year cicada brood that is coming this year and how/what to best protect from the swarm? Thanks!
I’ve asked entomologists about this and it really isn’t something to get too concerned about.
Love that you have combined your talents for this venture! My favorite is Brie’s 3 and Jim’s 2. Brie, you mentioned mounding your soil around the plants as you have very wet growing conditions. I liked number 3 😁
Brie 3 and Jim2!
Lovely plants! I wish I could have more of them! As it is, I am on the fence of giving out, the 3 I acquired last fall. Word of caution-Hellebores are extremely poisonous to pets! Brie 2, hands down!
Jim’s #3 is too pretty!
Wow brie 3 took my breath away. I must get one. What variety is it?
PS LOVE the outtakes!
Thanks! I love the outtakes too 🤣 I should have taken a picture of the name because it did not register in my head. I was really over stimulated with so many choices!
Vegetative breeding is a long, tedious process. Such dedication! Drop dead gorgeous results!
Brie 3
Just like Mendel bred his peas:) My fave is Brie’s 3
I love Brie’s 3. I think it’s what I just bought. Is it Fire and Ice?
You both are cute!!
I think you guys got the last of the Helleborus-foetidus. I can't find them on- line anywhere.
I noticed the other day that Joy Creek Nursery in Oregon had some that could be ordered online. Did you try there?
Obviously filming is HARD WORK, hahaha ! Hellebores: Brie 3/Jim 3! Now, let´s head home and get busy planting (will be dreaming about that tonight)
I think it's get home and get planting!!🤣
Jim1!
Brie 1 is my favorite. What was the name of the double white that Jim bought?
I have always heard hellebores don't work in zone 9. Are these new varieties that will work in zone 9? Are they perennials in zone 9? I would love to try them.
Bree #3.
No doubt....Brie 3
Oooo... I love Brie 3
Brie 3!
Brie 3 , although all are beautiful
Brie 1 & 3, But what are their names? I don't see them on Pine Knots website.
These are all seedlings so no cultivar names.
Can they grow on gulf coast pensacola fl ?? Would love a reply.. thanks!!
That’s a good question- I’ve not really noticed them in Pensacola, but I’ll ask a gardening friend who lives there! I know you can grow camellias really well!
Bottom centre x
I don't understand. How is it they reseed prolifically in your wet habitat if they prefer dry shade?
Your gonna regret planting Helebores one day...I do and ended up digging them out and getting rid of them...
