There was one flying in San Diego (CA) County today. N51MG. That's how I found this video, saw the thing on ADS-B exchange and looked it up, and then wanted to research them a little. So they must be selling if the one in the video was the first one and there was another one flying today. Today alone it went from Ventura County to San Deigo County. The little thing gets around. They look fun. When he demonstrated that a 6 foot person can fit in it, the guys name was Mike Trudell. Thats who 51MG is registered too. Looking up the flight history it looks like it was in Gulf Shores, probably when it came into the country on March 21. Did all the testing there for for a week and headed west.
This is so cool looking! But is scary to not have a fixed wing. I wish they made new planes look like that, but unfortunately only Pipistrel comes close.
Gyro planes should be safer compared to fixed wing ultralight aircrafts, because basically they are impossible to stall and in case of engine failure you can autorotate and land basically everywhere. that's the theory, but I can see the rotor overspeeding and blow up or break if for some reason (weather, severe turbulence) the aircraft is put in some unusual attitude
Funny you mention that, I felt the same way until I took a ride in one 3 /4 months ago. Then talking to the owner I learned you can get them type rated etc.... And I was blown away (pun intended) by how little the wind bugs a gyro compared to my POS 1960's Cessna 172.
flyingbro's YT for the idea.... I think I can throw electric hub motors in the wheels and register this as a motorcycle in my state and make it road legal. Note: I would not take it on the highway / freeway /interstate, that's were the flying would come in. Also you can just drive to a gas station and get unleaded fuel instead of the lead stuff ROTAX hate. (just ideas)
Do you have to travel to Italy to build it? Guess it would be a good excuse for a vacation.
Excellent talk through, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
8:05 That cockpit dash needs a "No Hand Hold" sticker. 😜
Italian tecnology proud!

Does it fly without the canopy? For summer use?
Are there any luggage compartments on this one?
I want one !
Could you film it flying?
Controles in the rear gauges.
Radio controls in the rear?
😎
