Insomnia was incredible. A rare American remake that has real dignity alongside the original. Nolan should direct more scripts written by others.

pacino won the oscar for scent of a woman remake but the original 1974 film is far better

PurushaDesa Nolan apparently did write the shooting script but because of some WGA rules he couldn't receive credit.

Ah. That's really interesting to know. It's a very different kind of voice in that film. The closest I can think to it is Gordon and Dent arguing over corruption cases.

I don’t mind a few adaptations but the best directors write there own scripts in my opinion and Nolan takes it to another level

Back then he used to pump out movies far more regularly. Ever since Interstellar, he's taken a gap of 3 years between his films. I think it's a good idea, because it makes all of his films feel like events.

Insomnia was very good. I saw it in the theatre & I remember I really liked it. I just rewatched it. Pacino gave a very underated performance. I like that nolan wanted to keep whatever they really have bc ur first instinct is the best one. Is nolan English he has a bit of an accent. Its tragic that pacino didnt win an oscar for either godfather movies. He carried the film and played an arc of michael corleone as a college boy war hero who wants no part of the buisness then bc of circumstances he becomes a more ruthless cold blooded godfather than his father. He was better than brando & denero who won Oscar's. Brando was great but al pacino was on much more & al was pissed he didnt get the lead actor nom but supporting nomination. They would never make brando be a supporting nomination as the greatest and I think the Oscars dont like normally to give an oscar to a new young actor like pacino. Then he got the lead actor nom for part 2 and lost to I dont even know. Denero won supporting . Wtf. Denero was ok in it but pacino was outstanding . Proves to me the Oscars are all politics . Scent if a woman I'm sure pacino was good but for that to be his lone oscar is unreal. He had 4 oscar winning performances in a row in his prime in the 70s. Scent of a woman was the make it up to u oscar bc pacino is the best after brando in his prime. Denero played the same role in my opinion . The italian guy with a temper. I mean that one face he has everybody knows it. Pacino went from michael corleone to serpico a cop under cover . Talk about range. He showed huge range within one film in the godfather part 1. Shame .

As someone who has Nolan in top 5 movie directors of all time, hell no he's not underrated. Dude literally has so many bangers and are well known by almost everyone. Only two movies that are maybe not that known or are "underrated" are Insomnia and Following, but every other movie that he made was a blockbuster and is still talked about to this day and are critically acclaimed.
