Mig Welder Euro Torch Swap - What You Need to Know

Most of us think that the consumables for our mig welders, especially the mig gun, when it malfunctions, we just throw it away and there’s no chance to fix it. But did you know that any euro mig torch might also be compatible generally with other mig torches of different brands? This means that if you know how to swap your mig welder euro torch, you can save a lot of money by just swapping parts and you don’t need to buy a new torch, particularly for a branded one.
For example, I have a Binzel torch which I bought way back but it was expensive compared to my Chinese made generic torch. But if my Binzel euro torch connector gets broken, I could take those parts from my generic mig torch and install them and it should work. Especially the switch which gets broken easily due to its continued use and wiring. So swapping has become part of my usual mig welder gun repair.
However, be aware that when doing your mig welder gun repair, especially swapping of parts you have to consider the parts’ amperage capacity. A euro mig torch has mostly interchangeable parts; you must check if the amperage is the same before making a mig welder euro torch swap.
For instance, you cannot install a switch from a 100-amp torch to a 250-amp torch because the extra amperage will burn it out. So that's the first basic rule when doing mig welder euro torch swap. Always swap Like for Like.
