You are the best teacher on RUclips that I've found! I also loved your danish gambit video. I love that you challenge us to find the best move in places other teachers would take for granted. Thanks for sharing your hard work and great ideas!
at 1:26:38 when mio said, "with idea of bishop c6" i paused and looked for a while super confused about how I had missed the whole idea. Unpaused to hear "c3 sorry." I should not have paused so fast haha!
I play the Scandi as black and learned a lot from this video. I enjoy the Nc6 variation but I definitely don't like that Bb5 move. Your video gave me understanding on why its so tough for black.
37:00 he didn't mention 0-0 Qxe6 when the mate after Nh6 dbl check is really hard to stop. And White isn't even down much material, an exchange for a pawn
I had a blitz game this morning in the line where black plays a Qd8/Nf6 and Bf5 set up .In the position after white has played g4 and h4 you analyse lines with Bb4 and Nbd7 but mu opponent played Be4.I took on e4 and played Qe3 sacing the d4.After he played Qxd4 I went badly wrong but for anyone who gets this position as white you meet Qxd4 with Nf3 which should net you a piece for 2 pawns within a couple of moves as after Bb4ch/Kf1 black struggles to defend his e4 knight.
@@HenryMcCraken4 same here... stuck with najdorf for a long time but i've found a great book i've bought 10 years ago about Scheveningen and i'll give it a try :-)
@@furkankarakaya26 kings gambit is played in high elo turnaments, but realy rare. You can see magnus, tal, and some other great players using it sometimes and ussualy win. Its good opening for white if you know how to play it. If your great attacking player, you will ussualy win, belive me. Black is better if he is better defender then y are attacker, if hes not then you will win. (sry for bad english)
@28:35 couldn’t you also play Ne5 with the threat of checkmate? I know it’s less forcing, but doesn’t that still work? That way you also get to keep the bishop
Another really useful video. I have a question about the ..3Qd6 line considered at 1.00.21 where black has a queen on d8 and responds to d5 with c5, when white plays a4.I have looked at this and can't find any advantage to white.I put it into Lichess analysis with Stockfish hoping there would be a sca with dxe6 or something similar. Whatever the line SF just gives the position as level.
An interesting video. Aforementioned excessive talk actually permits viewer to create PGN files of lines while watching. For viewers with patience, the talk is welcome because there are points that help memorize key move s. However, upon analysis of the lines, as they generally go from weaker to stronger reply by Black, one can find that even the "strongest" reply by black was subpar indeed and that permitted white's supremacy. As somebody mentioned, for blitz games. In the line 3.. Qd8, after 5.. Bf5 and 6.Bc4, 6..c6 is inferior move too : Nbd7, Be6, and e6. similar omissions can be found in almost every line
Please don't stop talking a lot about positions. Personally, I learn a lot from the little nuances you often speak about. Don't worry about those impatient people who just want to get to the moves.
it is very interesting, but not too practical for average players. Because some of mentioned lines are good only for correspondence chess. But playing over the board it is impossible to remember all the deviations. And if you do not remember something then it is easy to find yorself lost in one of these sharp variations.
Interesting to see the basics of an opening explained. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for that, but for me the video is too long with too much idle talk, and I'm already watching with double speed. And yes, White has the bishop pair, I got it.
I agree with you but only in the first part. Levi has no fucking idea what he is talking about if he is off the engine, especially in Scandi. In terms of educational value his content is trash, though I agree it's very entertaining.

Why?
I play the Scandi all the time.... this video was great. Now I got to find some new defenses to the white attacks in this vid. Thanks....

Your honor, this was a great video -- thank you so much for making the time to educate us.
Scandinavian Master class! Wow! everything covered in comprehensive detail. Good work Mio! (Please someone make a Chessable course from this xD)
Also at 28:25 there is Ne5 giving up the queen but going for Be2 mate if he takes the queen.
Also if he doesn't take the queen, he's attacking the bishop so it has to move.
I like to Transition into the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit when facing the Scandinavian defense
Well then black can play a French
Best thing I've Ever seen against the Scandinavian. Thank you very much!
What an awesome lesson! Thank you very much Butcher!
