I’ve been watching wrapping videos to put me in the mood to start Christmas shopping and I just had to comment on your video, I’ve watched a lot of wrapping videos but yours was the first where you were both wrapping together. It was lovely to see your partnership and that you worked so well together, can’t wait for this years

I love that Idea to prepare for christmas shopping! So smart. Thank you so much! We love doing this together, and we use it as a special date night. We get snacks and drinks and watch the same 2 christmas movies while we wrap every year. So much fun (and so much easier than just one person getting stuck with it all!)

I ended up rewrapping all of Emma's...well just what I had already wrapped. We were in the store yesterday and she saw some dinosaur wrapping paper she about died over. Santa's reindeer were replaced with pterodactyls and a bunch of various dinosaurs were exchanging gifts with a brachiosaurus putting the star on the tree. Problem is she knew I bought it. So Ill probably pull some shenanigans with the elf on the shelf I dont really care for to explain why everything is in the dino paper. Luckily I only had 3-4 big things wrapped. I usually go to walmart, target and dollar store to get her stocking stuffers and last minute gifts without her. Hubby drops me off. This weekend he came home sick as a dog. I couldnt even lay near him because he was so hot. I didn't want to make him drive to far so I did all my last minute stuff at the grocery store. His bday was Sunday (20th) and the poor guy had to spent it totally miserable. Shes getting WAY more candy than I ever give her to fill her stocking. I wrapped each little gold chocolate coin because she will get a kick out of it but man it took forever. I even ordered Dinotopia and some acrylic paint last minute. Hopefully it comes. If it doesn't she will get it in the Amazon box when it comes. She just found the Dinotopia book this weekend so I hunted it down. I probably will end up wrapping until 1am Christmas Eve like I always do. The mail is so messed up in the US right now so some stuff we ordered a month ago, like her second Christmasaurus book haven't even shipped. Emma has always hated reading because it never came easy to her, at least I think thats the reason. Its been like pulling teeth to get her to read for homeschool. However since getting the first Christmasaurus shes been reading. She asked me for actual books yesterday and I couldnt really say no. She pretty much whispered "reading isnt that bad...maybe...but dont tell anyone". I think I ended up ordering Edge of Extinction which is supposed to be similar to Jurassic Park but for kids, Dinotopia, Apollo 13, something about discovering Sue, the first complete Trex, and something else. She wanted How to Build a Dinosaur by Jack Horner but thats like college reading level. I found a used library copy for $5. Hopefully she keeps with the reading. Shes smart but reading/writing has always been a struggle for her. I think she was maybe 8 before she even knew the ABC song and that was before homeschool. Girl can draw, paint or build/fix anything though. Of course I got her some mini figures and paints/nessesities but they are delayed and haven't moved for days. Praying that stuff comes because that's supposed to be in her Santa stocking. I already filled the one from me full of candy. Shell never get through 2 stockings full of candy lol.

That's dedication right there lol. On a side note, has she been tested for dyslexia or dysgraphia? I just asked because those are some strong signs of dyslexia, and if that's the case, once you know what you're working with there are tons of helpful tools. (I have a dyslexic kiddo) just a thought to maybe look into. Xx

@@RainbowMiller we have begged and pleaded for years. Our school district wouldn’t test until they are 11. We have been fighting them for over a year. Last time they said she didn’t have a worrisome enough delay. She mixes up the most common words. She can’t spell or write nearly close to what most 12 year olds do. She doesn’t pronounce R at all. All they have said is “unidentified language based learning disability”. Of course COVID brought everything to a screeching halt. We lost my uncle just before Christmas last year and my Dad was in critical condition at the same time so we said we would put it on hold a couple months. I’ve fought for years to figure out what’s up with her language all around. It’s reading, writing and speaking. I keep getting told she’ll grow out of it. I did notice that the font in the Christmasaurus was bigger and different print than most books. I wonder if that made it easier? It doesn’t help she was taught to read by looking at the shape of a word and the letters at the beginning and end. I started homeschooling her at 9 1/2 and she knew NO phonics at all. It’s been a source of stress since she was 2 and didn’t speak at all yet. I get turned away more than anyone listens. I’ve been told it was her IQ even. It isn’t that. She can fix about anything, make about anything and tackle problems on an adult level. It’s just reading, writing, language stuff. It’s the only thing holding her back in math too. I wish I’d never sent her to school to be honest.

oh, mama I can feel your frustrations and hurt through your words. I'm sorry it's been such a struggle for you to get some tolls to help her thrive. I truly hope you get what you need in the new year to help her out! She sounds very clever, she is so lucky to have a mama who advocates for her so fiercely!
