@Piggypuggy.........yes bro, seriously lau nuaaaaa, man !!! Used to hang out at this place with buddies from Tampines & Pasir Ris, usually at night. Favorite sitting space at tables near market stalls. Those UFOS, has so many types of add-on compared to traditional one. My favorite stalls are the bbq seafood, satay, chicken wings and porridge. So, dining in days will be back soon, huh.....good for you. Thanks for sharing and fond memories, bro.
Wah.. you also hang out there ah? Looks like you're the unbeatable hawker centre champion 🏆 man.. I also old man.. just had porridge from geylang bahru for dinner.hahaha
Thanks for upload. I appreciate that you state the date & time. My friends & I had planned to have dinner there but the Heightened Alert started when only 2 pax are allowed. There are 5 of us. All the food look soooo yummy😋.
God bless these seniors making the wings & otak - may they be blessed with very good health & prosperity! Most of these experienced & older hawkers are hardworking &take pride in their skill.
it suddenly occurred to me back then that while these seniors are on their feet.. and yet many of us consumers have gotten accustomed to ordering overpriced fast food delivered to our doorstep out of convenience.. thanks for your kind words.. 🙂
Hahaha.. yeah.. it's almost closing time for him.. but that UFO still tastes fabulous leh.. no chow chow oil smell.. so ok laa.. have you seen that bukit timah chicken rice 🍚? Good? 😂
Wow.. learnt something new.. it’s a Foochow delicacy. What do you think of having crab sticks in it 😄 I’m shocked to learn that even the paste is done from scratch.. using those beans. He’s up at 530am to do it everyday for 30 plus years. Amazing.. so rem he opens from 8am-8pm.. not too late as he probably goin home to zzz for 530next day 😅
PPuggy, you must draw your attention to the Singapore Tourism Board with your excellent videos, thousands viewers abroad, highlighting heritage, all hawker centres, etc, encouraging tourism to Singapore. Also majority Singaporean office workers, families eat out, so this must not be lost.
Just came across your channel. Nice videos. A question about the frying oil in frying the fritters - do you know how many times the oil is reused and what kind of cooking oil is used to deep fry the food? Oil looks extremely black!
Normal oil I guess.. but it doesn't taste bad or anything.. it's still very nice to eat. I'm sure all oil will turn black after frying a few rounds.. even for other fried stuff like Indian vadai. I've noticed it's all black. Coz I suppose can't be changing oil every 2-3 rounds 😅
@@Piggypuggy Yeah, definitely. Changing frying oil every 2 to 3 rounds will eat into their profit immensely. But is it changed once every 6 rounds or is it changed every 20 rounds makes a big difference to patrons' health! It will be nice to have the authority regulate this like they regulate cleanliness of a kitchen.
@@kch5389I seen a couple of times before 😅 well .. @@kch5389I think they probably also know when to change it as bad oil will give off a nasty aftertaste to it and it’s not gonna bring back returning customers.
The "Chinese UFOs" are a strange concoction and look like a food nightmare, but I'm sure it tastes good 🤣 It's a whole meal in a fritter with protein, veg and carbs.
At first I also thought .. wah.. why so premium.. but when you see how big this one is...plus quite nice to eat. Crisp and still not after I reach home.. I'd say I'll ear it again
I opine that hawker food shld be PRICED LOWER than those in other private estabs. Hawkers are using govt's hawker centres built with tax-payers' money. And oso the centres are regularly upgraded with tax-payers' money, too. Many of them paid lower rents as compared with stalls in coffeeshops, shopping centres' foodcourts who pay high rents to big towkays on commerial basis !
Yeah.. that’s why usually still $3-5 for a bowl. Not sure how much they are paying for rent now.. but many are really struggling.. coz profit margin is not very high and sales volume are quite pathetic for many less popular stalls. I just don’t like paying that 10+7% tax sometimes. Especially when I’ve a bill over 200 or so
Totally agreed with you as I thought the rental from the govt is cheap but heard from some that the owners of stall rent out to 3rd party tats y the price is high. Nowadays box and soup chilli all need to pay extra cents. Dun understand y these days during pandemic. Tku
@@moonstars6279 I think there r longtime hawkers, esp the elderly who want to give up but can't. Giving up means no income whereas the G would give them a token cash compensation (once only) I think. So, some may resort to subletting the stalls to collect monthly incomes. They only need to be present at the stalls to show their faces. Hence, as you said rightly the reason for the high hawkers food prices.
I want chicken wings and CKT and pan fried dumplings and noodle soup and otak , and satay, and a sugarcane juice that should keep me happy for a little while. Thank you to all the hard working hawkers
@@Piggypuggy I know what you mean I always walk out with enough food to keep me happy at the hotel for 3 days. (The fact I can go back when I get hungry again kind of doesn't factor in lol) I have been known to buy Bak Kwa, Keuh Dada, almond biscuits, chicken wings, and dry noodles for the aircraft before I leave.
If allowed will pack in 'goodies' into suitcase!!! On one flight back, durian was triple tightly wrapped in suitcase but at check in, they smelt a whiff of it, sadly had to discard!!!!
A stall that sells carrot cake, hokkien mee, oyster omelet collectively... I will never eat there because it's gonna be mediocre at best. I will order only if I'm desperate.
It's a bit ex too.. but until I took a bite of it.. I saw the quality and how it's bigger and nicer than all smaller ones that I had before. Can try one laa

Thumbs up for ALL these hawkers. MUST support them. Food looks fastantic
This place is a glutton square in the evening. A concern that when the senior chefs retire, there may not be continuity.
Yes… that’s the main reason why I wanted to document Singapore Hawker Culture.. before it’s all lost

You can taste if the oil is stale/used for too long/many days, very bad for heart health, increase cholesterol level, oil colour should not be black
Wow, used to eat here often, esp late nights. Porridge, Bak Chor Mee (both stalls) BBQ chicken wings, satay, carrot cake all good!
Super Supper Club
