Okay, I enjoyed your video of the show last year too, but dude! This was the best video I’ve seen of the show. Great footage and even better commentary, serious props.
Thanks, man! That means a lot. I wish I could have chatted with you this year but between the lines and the chaos it was just too much. Hopefully we cross paths at another show next year.
6:34 And once again, I thank you for visiting my table at VCFMW 2023...Your channel quality has launched into the stratosphere...and I'm SO glad that you're making these videos!
I finally found this video in May. Not only am I name-dropped and filmed, but my part ends at 13:37 -- how L33T! Thank you so much for including my NetWinder and my hand gestures, good sir.
This is a great video! I don't know how I missed it. 2023 was my first ever VCF and I was totally blown away by-- everything! The massive crowd, the new stuff I learned about, the insane sensory overload of seeing so many amazing things in the exhibit halls, and the vendors upon vendors with so much cool stuff for sale. I bought a complete Apple IIc setup, 5 Macintoshes (lol 1 was for my brother and 2 were bundled with the IIci as they were closing out on Sunday) and a pile of cards, cables, and adapters that are impossible to find anywhere else. Digging though boxes for treasure next to Steve from Mac84 was funny I was glad to meet so many people who geek out just as much as I do over old computers and it was such a rad time. I'm really looking forward to 2024 and the new venue.
I liked your coverage of the show, & how you broke it into themed sections. I even caught a few snippets of both our display table, as well as our sales tables in the hall. It was a blast of a show for me, & I look forward to 2024's show, wherever it may be held. :)
Hey, I just have to comment again -- this was one of the most thorough videos I've ever seen for the festival, and I really appreciate all of the production work (scripting, editing, etc.) that went into it. It's definitely one of the best 3 retrospectives I've seen for VCFMW 18 this year. Subscribed, and I look forward to your future work.
Thank you much I love your level of detail and what you chose to cover this video is fantastic. Thank you for your consideration to make something great
I concur with @LGR on your video being the BEST coverage of VCFMW, nicely done! And thanks for the feature coverage at 5:33 , 6:33 & 6:58 ! Awesome! & 38:35 too!
10:08 The cabinet on this Zenith TV is worthy of greater investigation...and this video just got added to my Zenith Chromacolor II playlist as a result...
WOW, this video was exceptionally well done. I enjoyed every minute of this. You captured a lot of things that I missed at the show. I have no idea how you got to it all, but you did it!! See you next year!
I enjoyed spotting Jeri Elsworth (what a legend, she goes way back and has her fingersprints on contemporary projects) and multiple spottings of Bill Herd (another legend, to be sure). Edit: Just spotted June from Nybbles & Bytes! Thanks for this video!
Was that Dangerous Dave I saw on one of the computers? I used to play that game, as well as put it on random computers at work. Also, you mentioned Data General. I had a friend who used to work in a place that refurbished DG's, they usually had to make one working unit out of 2 or more broken ones. He told me that they ran an OS called "Meese" (spelling?). Has anyone in the retro computer world ever ran or heard of this OS that you're aware of?
Nice video. I don't think I would say the growth is unexpected however. I have been going for well over a decade and it grows each year. It used to be a split show of ECCCC and VCF, but has grown ever since they merged into one show and other clubs joined in.
Thanks for the friendly comment. To be clear, the show growing isn't unexpected-I mentioned that the show's been growing YOY and that's showing no sign of stopping. I fully expected it to grow considerably (and so did the show staff). It's more that the show's growth is accelerating faster than previous years, and that it's beating already good expectations of growth. The unexpected bit is more that the show's found itself in a spotlight beyond being a local show-its fast growing into a capital C Convention and that harbors some change that maybe some people won't like. I've seen it happen first-hand-I was an artist alley tabler/vendor at comic cons and other stuff for over a decade, I know how the growth trajectory works. I had cut some ruminations about this from the script because it was getting long and I didn't want to speculate on certain things that I don't have first-hand knowledge about. I'm also cognizant of the fact that since this is only my second time at VCFMW I'm very much a Johnny-come-lately. I'm friends with several people who've been going for years and were asking me to come for a long time, so I have some wells of experience to tap from for perspective. But if you sat me down at a table I'm sure I could yak at length about where I think it could go. :)

I agree! This was the best video coverage of the show and I watched many.

This is a fantastic overview of what it's like to attend the show -- thanks! I've added it to the VCFMW channel's "retrospectives" playlist.
Thanks, Jim!
Thanks for the shout out for the panels. I had a blast talking about HyperCard.
I love your passion for HyperCards.
This is a great video! I don't know how I missed it.

Wonderful video as always, looks like you had a blast! A new Userlandia video is always Event Watching!
Enjoyed meeting you IRL at VCF, glad you enjoyed the 21" Monitor!
Fantastic review! This is more a documentary than a RUclips video. Very nicely done.

Great video, I’d love to see more this kind of videos from you. Very professionally done. Greetings from Finland!
Finland? That's the country for me!
Wow, what an incredible video - you covered everything and it's super enjoyable! 👍
Outstanding, professional coverage. By far the best coverage I've seen.

Thanks, Chris!
40:02 & 6:13 I wanted to spend more time at this table...they were JUST across the room from me! Retro Disks...
GREAT recap sir! 👏👏👏 Enjoyed it!
Same, really nice!

You're welcome!
37:30 Connor's dragon sighting is always fun!
Oh hey, it's my VIC-20 shenanigans exhibit at 24:27, and again at 32:32! Sweet.
VIC for victory!
7:19 the AT&T UNIX PC with Expansion Module, on System Sources' table no less...and CommodoreZ in the background! UNIX PC Reprise at 18:03

We hope you'll consider attending VCF Southwest in 2024. We're expecting to have a compelling show!
If I can work it into my schedule, I'll see what I can do!
40:30 Ah, John Sennesael (jns) taboe...excellent and enigmatic!
21:19 Someday we'll track down BonusLife's $2999 Tektronix 4021 "Not-A-Terminal" with QIC tape drive...
20:40 and a Sark spotting doing what he does best!

5:00 this was a sly Futurama reference wasn't it
Me, a sly Futurama reference? That dog won't hunt, monsignor.
24:30 Jbevv & CommodreZ amidst the craziness!
And an Amiga 4000 between those Apples :) 8:34
Yup, I only wish I could have afforded that a4000. Even if I could, I'm not sure it would have made the plane trip back!
I learned a new word today - faffing. Thanks!
Expanding your vocabulary one video at a time!
How many of the guests missed a show bc they couldnt figure out the 24 hour clock 30:01
There were announcements made throughout the day over a loudspeaker when events were about to start, so my guess is very few.
That was a very random plug for American Science AND Surplus. What was that about?
We went there on an off day during my trip and thought it would be a place that the VCF crowd would enjoy.
Which VCF show typically has the largest number of exhibitors and largest "flea market"?
