Thank you so much for posting these great videos. After doing research for a few months, I hope to be getting my budgie this weekend. These videos have been extremely helpful in learning about the bird. Thanks again!
Omg, I love you I'm 11 years old I have 4 lovebirds and 3 budgies your videos have been a great help, my budgies have been getting Tamer each day , pls share more tips and tricks on how to train and bond with budgies, thank you😋😍 PS. they can step up, perch on my shoulder, eat from my hand and I am starting to train them to perch on my hand when I call them😋
Dragon_Slayer Thank you so much!!! I am excited that you are getting a budgie and I hope my videos will help you get things going with your new birdie. Thanks for watching!
i always buy my budgie cage a "tube top" it really helps keep the mess off the floor. oh my your birds are sassy today! i always keep my cage next to a bright sunny (double paned) window so they can see outside and i make a cage over out of a beach towel or small fleece throw to keep them warm at night. (very affordable at your local grocery or drug store) on nice warm non windy days i take my birds out to my covered patio table for some fresh air for up to 30 minutes, never leave them un attended, there are cats and hawks that might go after them. beware of drafts, when you bath your birds it must be in a draft free room or they will get sick.
I currently have two budgie. I have a boy named Blue and a girl. But Blue seems to be afraid of the sounds water and rain. Any advice? And I usually out put on nature music for them to relax.
I am a current 13 year old. I deal with high school throughout as you may have figured, would it be acceptable if i spent time with my Parakeets Befor school for 2hours and after 3:30pm to 9:30pm? Please tell me if this scedual is good enough for my Parakeet.
I totally forgot to do some research about my budgie before I got one and I started to research when my budgie was 2 and I found out I can finger train it so do you know how to finger train older birds
I just got two budgies a few days ago and one seems to be perfectly comfortable but the other is very very shy... How do I like bond with them? I don't want to make the shy one uncomfortable when I go to work with the comfortable one... Help!!!
You'll just have to work at the pace which the shy one is comfortable with, unless you can separate them. It may take a little longer or require a few more steps, but it will be worth it!
The Parakeet Perch thank you so much! I've gotten her to eat millet while I held it and I think my other one kinda helped show her it's okay to. I know how rewarding it will be when I bond with them☺️❤️
I got a parakeet when I was 10 years old. After only a couple days he was letting himself be comfortable with my hand, but then (someone) reached his hand in and batted the bird a little and screwed up my taming of him. As a result I didn't spend time with him as I should have. I taught him to take seed from my fingertip which was probably a mistake, since all it did was look for seed when I presented my hand, so I didn't try any more to make him comfortable with my hand or let him out of his cage much. I especially never really handled him or attempted to pet him at all. He didn't really get the attention he needed and only lived a few years. Be very aware of the environment your bird will be in and the time you are really willing to devote, and the mistakes you are willing to correct.
Yes, but your budgie might be a little lonely during the day. If you dont already, try to see if you can buy a second budgie, or at least leave a radio on so they wont get bored.
I have a budgie that my brother brought home from work but he's very aggressive and scared of me. I'm gentle with him and try to hand train him but he gets scared and bites me and or quickly gets away from me. We think he had been abused at his previous home. I've tried everything, even praises and treats when he did let me touch him. How do I get my budgie to warm up to me and allow me to take him out of the cage to interact with him? Please help. (:
Question - The nearest place for me to obtain a budgie is about a 2 hour drive. It will be from petsmart or the other one. I see they drop the bird into a box. It must have breathing holes, I assume. Can the little birdie handle the trip and what can I do to make it comfortable for him?
How much alone time is bad for 1 Budgie? I go to school for 4 days a week. 2 of those days i'll be gone for about 8 hours and the other 2 days I'm only gone for about 4-5 hours. If I interact with my budgie everyday after school will that be enough? Or will I be gone for too long?
You should have interactive toys for your budgie. 8 hours seems like a lot. Maybe concider getting your budgie a new friend or lots of fun toys to entertain her/him while you are gone.
Hi, your videos are awesome...... I've almost seen all your videos....... yesterday I've bought a pair of parakeets and they are not eating anything since I bought them...... is that OK or is there any problem........ how many hours they can stay without eating????
Hi! I would like to know if mirrors are dangerous to budgies. I've been researching for the past couple weeks, and I found a owner who says mirrors are dangerous to budgies. I don't know if this is true or false. Also, they said strings and knot sorts are dangerous too. Last question, what type of tree branches can my budgie perch on? Sorry for these non-sense several questions. Thanks!
angie You can use a mirror, however be aware that it can cause harm to your budgie. It may become obsessed with it and ignore your company thinking it is another bird, and may try to feed or mate with its reflection. Doesn't mean it will happen, but there is a chance that can happen.
i have a budgie whose going to be 7 years old this year, but she doesnt show any signs of age. whats the life expectancy of an all yellow budgie? also she loves to hang upside down, is that safe?
A parakeet is a name for a group of parrots with long tails and a medium/small size. A budgie is a type of parakeet. So, although a budgie is a parakeet, a parakeet is not necessarily a budgie :-). There are also ringneck parakeets, monk parakeets, grass parakeets...many different kinds!
I wanted to get 1 budgie so I could bond with it and teach it tricks and interact with it for hours everyday. I am at school 9-3pm but as soon as I get home I will play with it for a long time. It will also have lots of toys. Will this be ok or will it still be lonely?
Keep Calm And Watch Your Fave RUclipsrs 2 budgies would be happier together :-) one could be okay as long as he has several toys/perches and a big enough cage
I got a pair of baby budgies around 4 months ago, and they're Ceres both look white! One acts more like a girl and the other acts more like male with all of its head bobbing and singing, but how can I know for sure the sex of my budgies? Will I have to just wait for them to mature to tell?
rebecca blain Yes, you may have to wait a little longer to tell. If they are lutino/albino (and possible a few other color patterns), the cere may remain washed out in color. Then you have to go on behavior and a few other traits to tell (like males may have larger heads and wider throats).
Do they make louse noises when ur trying to sleep an I'm supposed to be getting a blue budgie I already set the cage up N stuff so when I get my birdy an the cage is between my dresser an my guinnepigs cage so should the bird be ok an the bird has perfect view of the TV but should I put the cage on my desk or leaf it were it is bc like I said it's right by my gunneipigs an my dresser so should it be ok and iv been doing lots of reserch on owning a bird an a budgie because I have never had one an when ever I do get the bird ill make sure I have time because I'm a teen I'm not busy until school starts I'm in 9th grade an when I'm don't with school every day I'll spend time wit the bird by doing sff with the bird but I made a list to were no animales (dogs or cats) are not aloud in my room when the birdy is out an I'll spend like more than an hour wit the bird but what do I do when I first get the bird do I leave it in its cage for a few hours to get used to the envirement bc I reshearch on leaveinf ur bird alone for a few hours or even days which one is it?an can u messeg me on Facebook about owning a budgie at paige sprowl thank you
I have recieved 2 budgies day before yesterday,in the first 2 day they didn't eat. They ate today and north are not having water. Do they need more time to settle and how do I tame them now. We don't have millet spray in my country. Please give me suggestions.
Try hand feeding them seed and refreshing their bowls frequently. Hand feeding builds trust and refreshing their bowls builds them an idea that the hand is a positive thing and encourages them to drink water since they are clean birds. Also try instead of millet, honey sticks. They have seeds mixed with honey. Budgies also love those
Carbonized Sub thats normal. They just haven't gotten completely used to ur hand if they bite or flutter around just stay calm. Maybe fiddle with their toys now and then. I've also learned instead of barging in there just put ur hand on the cage until they are used to your hand on the cage but don't actually put your hand near them. Once they are used to your hand on and near the cage then you can bet more aquanted with them. Try to pet them and just stay calm. Their bites are wimpy but even if it hurts jerking your hand away will scare them. Just remove your finger and continue. Also reward them 4 good behavior such as not biting and perching with honey sticks, kale, carrots, mangos and other fruits. Just ensure seed removal. And don't frequently give them the honey sticks. That will fatten them and they will stop eating normal seed. Also they may try to climb onto your finger with their beaks. Don't mistake that as biting
I'm not new to it but every time I get one it ends up dying my second one has just died today and I'm looking on getting another one but dose it have to be in the same room as you or can it be in a different room to you and please can you tell me what fruit a veg they can eat ad also do you have an email address so I can email u
They can eat lots of fruits and vegetables. They can eat apples , broccoli, etc.(I can't think of all of them) Find out why your birds keep deing so that you can prevent it. Did your birds have runny droppings or discharge around the eyes? My bird died from having his foot fall through bars at the bottom of the cage , so I took out those bars.
You don't need to go to the vet monthly unless you notice signs of sickness, mites, ticks, etc. The only time I needed to go to the vet all of my year with my first budgie is for his nails, now that the vet has showed me how to properly hold him and cut his nails I can do it at home with no cost so it won't cost you a fortune unless you take bad care of your bird like not feeding him nutritious food; making him obese, Boredom; feather plucking, not cleaning the cage; mites, sickness, etc., not having any toys in his cage; no play time to keep him happy and entertained( boredom) , and you; to play and stay active with your bird! So I hope you will get a budgie, it's not that all expensive unless you don't take good care of your bird!! My mom also said I couldn't have a bird because of vet bills, but I convinced her! I actually saved my bird, from a guy who didn't want it; he had a cat and it wouldn't talk, he's a old rich guy who's a baby lol, so he gave it to my grandpa next door; well he didn't want it. He the. Gave it to my cousins, my cousins where poking things in the cage, IT WAS SAT ON A CHAIR, with a dog sniffing at it, then the kids😓my mom saw this and she was like this poor bird, so I took it after a couple tears and begging! ~ check out my channel for information on budgies, and more!! SUBSCRIBE!!
I got my bird but don't have toys yet all I got is bird a cage and food so what I do to keep my bugie happy I play chirping sounds from RUclips and he/she gets chirping and moves around the cage and I talk to my bird he/she will start to squint he's/hers eyes and when I leave my room for to long I start hear it start to chirp when I come in the bird move around and go silent like its happy I have come back I think my birdie is taking a likening to me kinda fast because I only had my birdie for about 3 days now
+Samra Tihic if u want to train him, just go with him in bathroom or another room,he is not feeling comforrtable bcz there is another bird... i think it is bcz of that:)
If they are that aggressive you should return the bully. I owned two hamsters and I'd always get woken up at 3 in the morning because they would squeal and scratch eachother. I returned the bully and it was well
My budgie is 4-5 Months old shes a Female I bought him home one month ago with another budgie Hes a male 1 Years old, I placed seeds on my hand and the female Eats and Sits on my hand but shes still scared Why?
+XXAlkhatri XX (XXAlkhatriXX) it is not good idea rly to hand feeding him from the very first days,if u see budgie is rly hand tamed from childhood then it is ok,but once budgie is a little bit wild, atleast give him 2 weeks to get used to u,play with him, talk, clean cage,do anything then he will start likeing u:)
Please can anyone help me to get my budgie to eat his greens and veg???? I have been trying for months....he.just really protests anything other than his seed and pink salt block....apart from this he's having a great life....
+smr mario all you need to do just to talk with them nice and they need to get used to your voice,it is definetely bcz u don't spend much time with them. more often clean your cage, then they will used to yur hands, and slowly slowly 1 day it will be your best friend:)
Make sure you are giving your budgies time to acclimate. If the cage is lower than you, it's best to change that because if you loom over them it'll just make them more afraid of you.
Puppu :3 just keep them separate. If the puppy is calm you can try introducing them but you should wait until your bird is 100% settled in and hand tame/bonded.
Jaelynn Anderson Different birds just have different preferences. Not sure if there is a specific reason for that other than individual bird personalities :-).
+MINECRAF7ER123 Take your time and start with getting them used to your hand, even if you have to put it outside the cage. Check out our video on hand taming for more!
Oh wait just rememberd we got a budgie last year I think .our budgie just got to like me ALOT only one likes me ALOT the other one don't like me that much it still likes me. because that one is new it was replaced by the male that died of hunger the one that likes me ALOT is the female that servied

I keep moving the cage around bc I leave them inside then around noon I put them out side so that they can get some fresh air
They stay a few hours inside home and then I bring them outside so they can get some fresh air and then I bring them in so they can sleep
I currently have two budgie. I have a boy named Blue and a girl. But Blue seems to be afraid of the sounds water and rain. Any advice? And I usually out put on nature music for them to relax.
Btw, I'm really enjoying your channel and would like to know where you got your birds!!

Because my mom says that they need fresh air so I put them out side and then at night I put them in since
I go to school everyday and come back at 3:40. Would I be able to have time to train and take care of my budgie?
Yes, but your budgie might be a little lonely during the day. If you dont already, try to see if you can buy a second budgie, or at least leave a radio on so they wont get bored.

Well this is making me second guess myself ......
+GamingPanda27 that's a good thing if it helps you be more prepared or to wait if you're not ready. Budgie ownership can be a big responsibility!
i understand, thank you for the information though :)
+The Parakeet Perch could u make a video for teaching budgies to talk
i have the same as the yellow budgie
Thank you so much!!
Baljit Kaur My pleasure!
Question - The nearest place for me to obtain a budgie is about a 2 hour drive. It will be from petsmart or the other one. I see they drop the bird into a box. It must have breathing holes, I assume. Can the little birdie handle the trip and what can I do to make it comfortable for him?
carol mcculley yes it can, just make sure to keep the box from moving too much ^-^
thank you
Did you get your parakeets at petsmart or a breeder??!!

Hey, very nice video :) Very informative :)
Budgie/Hamster World Thank you so much.

Most budgies actually like mirrors and branch perches are recommended by owners and pet shops. Rope perches are also soft on their feet.
The Emerald gamer Ok, thank you. Because I bought my budgies a rope perch, and I have a mirror behind the cage.
Mintii ur welcome
angie You can use a mirror, however be aware that it can cause harm to your budgie. It may become obsessed with it and ignore your company thinking it is another bird, and may try to feed or mate with its reflection. Doesn't mean it will happen, but there is a chance that can happen.
I go to school from 8-3pm i have about 6ish hours time at home, is that enough for a budgie?
HollowWhisperz I'd recommend getting 2 budgies because one will get lonely being alone for that long.
Is a mango branch okay for a budgie to have as a perch?
A video on " How to convince your PARENTS for a Budgie?" Please 🙏🙏
where did you get your parakeets petsmart or a local breeder. I'm thinking about getting one.
Get it from a breeder.
One budgie short of crazy!, lol! Only joking! 😂
i have a budgie whose going to be 7 years old this year, but she doesnt show any signs of age. whats the life expectancy of an all yellow budgie? also she loves to hang upside down, is that safe?
Ezhiaray 13
No 1: usually 5-8years but has been recorded up to 15 years
No 2:yes budgies do that for fun.
I have heard a lot about how much seed you should feed your parakeet. Do you have any info on this?
Woo hoo w ings of fire fan!!!!
what's the difference between parakeet and budgie?😞

Melisa Indriksone budgie is smaller. Now you can understand the difference. Np. 😂😂
Melisa Indriksone they are the same thing
I have the exact same cage
I wanted to get 1 budgie so I could bond with it and teach it tricks and interact with it for hours everyday. I am at school 9-3pm but as soon as I get home I will play with it for a long time. It will also have lots of toys. Will this be ok or will it still be lonely?

Leandro Hernandez That's ok if it's not too much moving around. I used to put mine on a bookshelf at night, and they got used to it.
I did a budgie research in Ashland district school
great videos!
Danny Prudhomme Thanks so much. Really appreciate that!
Where should I get my budgie out of these two places.
Petco or PetSmart?
I heard that petco is much better. I got one of my parakeets there and he is perfectly healthy and friendly.
I got a pair of baby budgies around 4 months ago, and they're Ceres both look white! One acts more like a girl and the other acts more like male with all of its head bobbing and singing, but how can I know for sure the sex of my budgies? Will I have to just wait for them to mature to tell?

I got my bird but don't have toys yet all I got is bird a cage and food so what I do to keep my bugie happy I play chirping sounds from RUclips and he/she gets chirping and moves around the cage and I talk to my bird he/she will start to squint he's/hers eyes and when I leave my room for to long I start hear it start to chirp when I come in the bird move around and go silent like its happy I have come back I think my birdie is taking a likening to me kinda fast because I only had my birdie for about 3 days now
+James P give him some toys and most important thing is communicate with him alot,so it will be better that bird will be everytime wherever you'll go.
I train with my bird for 15 minutes and he is still scared and my other bird attacks that bird and bites what do I do please respond
I really want a parakeet and have a bond with it. But idk where to get it. Pet smart, petco or a local breeder!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Breeder or adopt. adopting is best as you are giving that budgie a second chance. also get just one. you don't need 2
thank you so much! birds and pet care
Please can anyone help me to get my budgie to eat his greens and veg???? I have been trying for months....he.just really protests anything other than his seed and pink salt block....apart from this he's having a great life....
Check out the video on my channel about getting your bird to eat fruits and vegetables! Sometimes you just have to try different approaches.
whenever i come to my budgies...they turn up and dont even look at me. what to do?
why are they so afraid of me? Sometimes it annoys me. :/
What if u go on trips what would u do with your budgi
Genia Alexander get a pet sitter
If you go on very frequent trips then you shouldn’t get a bird
I have a puppy, what should I do if I get a budgie?
Puppu :3 just keep them separate. If the puppy is calm you can try introducing them but you should wait until your bird is 100% settled in and hand tame/bonded.
Sara Dobbyn thx :
#budgiesareforlife
you need a vid on convincing parents XD
Is it ok if I keep moving the cage
Leandro Hernandez Are you trying to figure out where to put it, or moving it constantly for other reasons?
I have a question for any one to answer my budgie hates being petted on his back neck and head but he doesn't mind his stomach why is this
Jaelynn Anderson Different birds just have different preferences. Not sure if there is a specific reason for that other than individual bird personalities :-).
Well my birds well if you put your hand in the cage they fly like crazy how do I stop that
+MINECRAF7ER123 Take your time and start with getting them used to your hand, even if you have to put it outside the cage. Check out our video on hand taming for more!
Thanks my green budgie perches on my finger
Are you going to upload ever again? :(
0:35 " a little bit of research " well I'm doing GREAT at that because for the past 3 days ive been watching nothing but budgie videos.
Oh wait just rememberd we got a budgie last year I think .our budgie just got to like me ALOT only one likes me ALOT the other one don't like me that much it still likes me. because that one is new it was replaced by the male that died of hunger the one that likes me ALOT is the female that servied
I think siri and soma are a little silly some times don't u think the parakeet perch?
my budgie is very quite why
Just A little tip - dont read boks read online bc online information is new and We find facts every day\ week
I have 2 budgie
I want a loud bird
Cheryl Dahl get a macaw, cockatoo, or African grey if you have *a lot* of experience with birds
Conures can also be very loud! They tend to scream for attention. Any bird will scream for you if you reward that kind of behavior
Now i understand why your budgie is so loud...
I own a dog, but the internet really makes it sound as if a budgie is a harder pet... is it?
Doggo Adventures it depends on you and the budgie. I’d say they’re around the same, but I don’t mind messes or noises or anything.
