  • Video was shot in Minnesota during a seminar with Akamine Sensei. There was a group of Tae Kwon Do students who were interested in seeing the Shorin Ryu approach to generating power and speed, so Sensei covered some of the principles we use in our system.

The key to speed is relaxation as I am sure you now. If we try we can improve our speed, but I don't think I will ever get as fast as him. It really is amazing. I am humbled to be able to train with him.

There is a similar clip of him demonstrating in Russia that I uploaded. He also shows power development on the machiwara. Again, I try to replicate what I can and just have to accept that there is some difference in natural talent. We just have to do the best with what we have and take joy in progress.
