You socially humanized a song about society's inherent inhumanity. I was hoping you'd cover one of my favorite BR songs. Your vocals over an acoustic guitar brings so many aspects of their songs to the surface which could be easily overlooked. You remind us all of not only their power, but yours. Thank you.
Second year of university, a room mate played this and Infected for me and got me into Bad Religion. I've been a huge fan ever since. This version is amazing!
It's weird to say, but I had some "child dreams" - as we say in France - in my mind. Some things one wants to achieve in his life time. The first one was seeing New York, especially Central Park, under a foot of snow. I achieved this in 2012. The second one was seeing Northern Lights in Iceland. I just came back from it 3 weeks ago. So I can say I saw two wonders of Mother Earth in my life that left me speechless, almost crying, and with goose bumps. Some might say I don't have any child dream to aim for and that it is kinda sad. But no. Wanna know what my third "child dream" is ? To see Emily performing live and hear this voice which has given me goose bumps for 10 years now. So yeah, I know COVID's been hard on travels and stuff, but I'm really looking forward to going anywhere in the US, taking planes, trains, bus, whatever, - anything, really - just to see Emily sing any of the songs that gave me goose bumps for 10 years now. Just singing along with her. Quietly. Muttering in my beard. I know I'll be a random stranger in the crowd. Another face with a beer in my hand, slowly moving my head along with the chords she'll strum and the lines she'll sing. But I'll be there. Sometime. Someday. A stranger not begging for recognition or anything, just having his heart filled with the performance of a real artist. Just a stranger. With a smile on his face. Happy to see a person who helped him build the person he is today. Please. Keep on what you're doing, Emily. Like a real artist, you may not be aware of all the good and happiness you bring to others. And I can clearly say that, for me, it's not *Artificial* Happiness that you bring (Eh ! See what I did there ?)
Fantastic rendition! This song was begging for an acoustic version anyway. This version allows you to focus on the lyrics, which I always loved. Awesome job
I always loved this song, and it's an interesting view from Bad Religion. So many of their songs are about being frustrated with the lack of a better world, and yet this is like a sad acceptance of our fate.
What seems like a lifetime ago, in 2016, I discovered your brilliant accoustic BR reinterpretations. From Macon, GA to Des Moines, IA (and all the crazy places in between) its nice to rediscover your channel once again. Watching the joy you get out of playing a song that is on my personal hard-knocks soundtrack makes me beam with joy myself. Thank you and shine on!
The day is close, and I appreciate it all. Even the bad parts. Definitely not better off dead. What a gift this is... This was my favorite song as a youth, it's still one of my favorite songs, but I hear it so differently now.
I’ve been following Emily for years. Check her original stuff. It’s great! I check in every few months to hear her acoustic take on whatever bad religion anthem she’s doing at the time. She’s a great artist. And proves my favorite punk thesis: the best punk tunes are really just aggro folk tunes. Power to the punks!
That was awesome! I was looking for a completely different cover Bad Religion did, but I discovered this instead. I'm glad I did! That was really good! I honestly loved it!
They played this at the Tampa show last month and I was so stoked to hear it live - such serendipity to get to hear an Emily cover of it too! Another killer!
One of the first Bad Religion songs I've listened to and one of my favorites. Even though it's a circle pit starter, it has so much melody that can easily be turned into a ballad. Anathema did it a while back with piano and voice, you did it with an acoustic and your own vocal take. And let me tell you, that was spot on. Love that vocal line, well done! Along with that Offspring cover...here...take my sub! :D
Just discovered your Channel with Walk away a few days ago (you definitely kept the same style and that's a good thing), which inspired us to play it in accoustic like you, keep the great job, it's really enjoyable!
I always thought these were some of BR's darker lyrics yet the original just sounded so good musically. The solo shreds in it. This was a great cover and the singing sounded powerful. Keep on rockin' Emily!
It sounds good in her version. I do enjoy to "yell sing" this song since it was 1998. It means more when you give up on life and you find yourself still being here in this present moment we all share together. Hagurekure had a good way of looking at it. We die everyday. What must be done will be done, and not in a passive sense. I am already dead, so I have nothing to fear in life. Embrace it and be who you are in your soul. It is good to live and to grow.
Wow, what a great surprise: One of my favorite songs, played by the amazing Emily Davis - I really love your songs, and all your acoustic punk rock covers... 🥰🥰🥰
Oh I'm so happy this is happening!!! You have almost covered all my favs and I love your renditions. I know who I'm thankful for this holiday *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*
My reaction of this video went from "Oh I love this song and this rendition isn't too complicated. I can probably play this!" Jump to 10 seconds later as it dawns on me "Oh, s**t those are barre chords aren't they?!" Great job, Emily! Looking forward to practicing this one, gotta tackle barres at some point!
My toddlers and I love your Bad Religion renditions. Great job, thank you! If I can make a request, I'd like to hear you do 'struck a nerve.' Think about it. Hope you are well
damn been watching your video since 2008. keep it up, all the bad religions song I learned were your version. 🤘Never stop, even tho we're better off dead🤘
I love that you love bad religion as much as I do and understand what they are actually saying. Also love how ive been listening to your covers for years and never comment 😂. Hi. Love ya. Lol
Just an idea, it would be awesome to hear you cover one of Greg Graffins solo songs from the album Millport! The song Millport or Backroads of my Mind would be cool!
May I make a request? It's a little off your usual path, but I think you would absolutely kill it. "Joey" by Concrete Blonde. Such a great song. Your powerful voice would be perfect for it.
You socially humanized a song about society's inherent inhumanity.
I was hoping you'd cover one of my favorite BR songs. Your vocals over an acoustic guitar brings so many aspects of their songs to the surface which could be easily overlooked.

This is the nicest comment ever. Thank you! ;_;

This made me cry. Thank you, I needed to read something like this today.
Dear diary, today Emily Davis posted a cover of one of my favorite Bad Religion songs. Today was a good day. :)
Seriously though, this is awesome.
Same! It's a part of the current setlist on the tour and I was so excited to hear it and now an Emily Davis cover too? Amazing
What if the tooth fairy feels buttmad

Great cover from my favorite BR album. The album that introduced me to punk rock and my favorite band in fact.
Great stuff, love it! Can't believe it's been years since I discovered the singing outside the concert vids :D

Along with your cover of Don't Sell Me Short, this might be the favourite cover you've done. Superb, just first class.
You completely took the words out of my mouth! Both of those tracks gave me chills, they are so good.
Really dig that delivery on the lines "burn" & "moon". Pretty slick. Thank you.

Kicking ass as always. Great job!
Awesome! Its also cool you can pretty much match the original tempo of the song if you set it to 1.25x. Two versions in one!
