From the banjo and guitar blues to the fishermen on the river, Mali is the origin of the Mississippi Delta culture. I encourage all Africans-in-America to visit Mendenen (Mali/Senegambia/Guinee etc.) and not as tourist. But as children returning home, bearing the gifts of their experience and seeking the love of their mother.
Just saw this band in Burlington VT and they are bigger and way better now--the POWER of those combined instruments was incredible, like listening to the early Allman Bros.
@Rebertone my dad just bought one from one of the guys he plays with while they were on tour. if you ever get the chance to talk to them (in french), ask them about it! they are terrific guys
Oh how right you are! I also would like to own such precision instruments and a copy of the DVD & CD as well. I would appreciate any suggetions for me to obtain them? Thanks so much your time ;-)

In my opinion you can't fully appreciate what we call "modern music" without also consciously appreciating African music.
Just back from a gig in Donegal - seeing this amazing musician and his band - fantastic and mesmerizing
