That unit is the 7th sense unit! Since it’s been 7 years since the NCT debut and they were the first unit to debut so they put the ogs in a song again hehe
Yess this is The 7th Sense unit back after 7 years, truly our dream team! Baggy Jeans is INSANE and so is the album. They performed most of the album live during their NCT Nation concert the other day, all of them were even better live!
I really feel you on the whole tangent about not taking kpop too seriously - I feel like I've kind of reached a point where, the cringier something is, the more I will enjoy it. Don't deprive yourself of the joy that Orange Caramel, Crayon Pop, SupeM and NCT can provide in your life, people!
Also, this beat is nastyyyy and your hair looks incredible.

Yeah, I think the message of "You can't predict what I'm gonna do/You don't know what's in my pocket/You don't know what heat I'm going to bring/I am free to move wherever in my baggy jeans" is plenty for a fun song and total bop.
The rhythms and chords in this are keeping my brain plenty busy too. :)

The 7th Sense is my all-time favorite NCT U song, so I really wasn’t sure how my boys would be able to follow up such a groundbreaking debut song, but Baggy Jeans definitely brought all the swag, coolness, and surprising twists! The vocal fry in the chorus, the dance break, the choreo overall…. this unit is untouchable. This is soooo addictive, I can't believe I've been listening all day! This unit is just STAR POWER. Mark Lee's natural swag, Taeyong's ultra charisma, Ten's EVERYTHING, Jaehyun's sing-rap-whispering my gawd, and Doyoung's flawless vocals. How can they make a hit song about baggy jeans???! This is crazy! I'm done! Shout out to producers gahd damn... ya'll ate that.

Loved your reaction! Yes, this is the original and legendary 7th Sense unit! What's funny is that you are not the only person I've heard say they got goosebumps on this song. Lol! I do get exactly what you are saying & I agree with you. Think of the late great David Bowies #LetsDance" with his STERN instruction to "put on your red shoes and dance the blues"
Or SuperM mightily fiercely proclaiming "when we're jumping & popping we're jopping!!!" We hear nonsense lyrics all the time in DANCE music. Absurd out of place lines set in the hot herioc backdrop of SuperMs fight song...as if to say (as ALL the great rockers have and most kpoppers do) "we are SO fkn cool that WE can say silly stupid sht and get away with it."
IN that context #BaggieJeans is like #Jopping and this unit is also a good deal more like SuperM (it has THREE SuperM members in it!) than the SAME idols were back in the original NCTu5.
Fresh from training & they were committed to the concept & in sync AS NCTidols, truly astonishng at their debut in #7thSense,
as you say, the majority of kpop is NOT THAT SERIOUD but an exception is 7thSense which truly IS sacred in the annals of the genre. Concieved & brought into being by Lee Sooman who used his vast experience & comprehension of the entire trajectory of rock pop & hop to perfect NCT, its introduced in 7thSense WAS a game changer. IT was then & still is SERIOUS PERFORMANCE ART.
So much so that i honestly resent #3zero crassly marketing a hip hop tune AS its rightful heir and THIS reunion AS the SAME #7SenseUnit because its...not.
THIS unit is four NCT127aces, three members of Super M, two of the DJJ trio, the first NCT Soloist featuring Ten of WayV (with ALL the blood sweat & tears that has by now flowed beneath that battered bridge called NCT)
So whars the difference? This. When #NCTu debuted #7th Sense there was NO NCT127...yet...nor future established rivaling bickering FIXED units. There was only NCT as a NEW THANG.The #7theSenseUnit was fresh focused intensely presenting NEO Culture Technology training. They had a rare excellence cohesion precision disapline & a true gravitas that is being erroded by #3zero who can only exploit NCTIdols & part them out as for projects as needed because the powers at SM no longer have either the expertise nor intention to carry on the mission or legacy of NCT. IM not sure #3zero even grasps the significance of 7th Sense no more the shared accomplishment of the NCTfranchise.
So yeah. The new song BaggieJeans is hip & sexy & fun & the performers are notable as always . It shuld be celebrated for its own merits.
That said we knew the7thSense & the young idols who mastered it THEN They have other goals & interests. & are not the same now.
And BaggieJeans is NO #7thSense
