    All sets should have redundant insulators to maintain prices. Good box toppers, alt arts, consistent solid secret rares, and now foil common/uncommons should be used in combination to make opening valuable at scale and exciting at the individual box level. Product design is so inconsistent but its sooooo easy and I don't know why we can't just do it well every time.

    A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding this: gross profit is not the same as net profit. Gross profit is just price bought vs price sold. Net profit includes all of the expenses that go along with actually selling the product, like shipping, materials, and labor. While his gross profit on this box is $15-$25, by the time he takes those other things into account, he might do a couple of bucks better than break even, in which case, the juice isn’t really worth the squeeze. Which is why he is making the video in the first place.
    And this isn’t just complaining about losing the gamble on a box or case, it is a warning to other people trying to make money on the set to not waste their time and money because the value isn’t there, and to be wary about future product for this reason.

    The Liberator set at $65, which was the retail price of sets prior to BT16, would have been fair. The problem is that box prices have jumped, especially on the aftermarket, because Bandai is short-printing sets.

    If market is $100, and if u include the tlalocmon alt in your total, your ending total is about $125. I feel like 25% profit ain’t that bad but I guess u think it is that bad. Have a great day

    The most pointless rant ever, also if ur willing to cut a product line because 3 out of 25 sets have not given u a profit on boxes(and let’s be honest more tcgs boxes make a loss then gain u profit), ur not guaranteed chase cards, ur not guaranteed profit, just cut the product now if this is your mind set

      when a business (like a game shop) is running on razor thin margins, all it takes is one bad product to cause the business to go under. If a product proves itself unreliable, why would an rational person invest in it.
      And Mario did not say he would discontinue selling Digimion. He said he wasn't going to open product to sell as singles.

    • @5p3cu10
      @5p3cu10 Месяц назад

      @@masterlinktm but that's terrible business strategy. It's not on the casino to advise whether or not it's good business. It's up to you as the player to know where and when to stop.
      If you're investing into something and if you don't make your money back plus a little extra... That's gambling. Gambling comes with the inherent trait; the odds aren't in your favour.
      Also, if one bad exchange sinks your business... You won't stay in business for long.
      Also also, Mario is no longer going to sell singles. Why? Because it's bad business. It's gambling. It's better for him to sell the boxes and let the end user take the risk.
      That's why TCG manufacturers don't sell singles. It's bad business practice.

    You shouldn't get the same number of anything... Its gambling. We can pretend its not but it is. You're not guaranteed anything. Its random card packs. I get it's not good if your business revolves around shifting these cards... I feel like thats a you problem rather than a Bandai problem. Maybe their packs are a bit hit or miss. They are not meant to be a business deal. They are meant to be a bit light hearted.
    Im sorry dude, if your ripping packs with the expectation of making money... You're ripping packs for the wrong reasons.
    This mentality is killing off TCGs. Stop treating them like an investment and treat them like a game. Take a step back. Enjoy playing the game and let the rest be.

    • @masterlinktm
      @masterlinktm Месяц назад +6

      This statement can only be held true from a player perspective.
      From a store owner (like Mario) and business perspective, if you are not making any ROI you ain't buying. Simple as. Not understanding this is why so many card shops close within a year.

    • @TylerKhan
      @TylerKhan Месяц назад

      @@masterlinktm couldn't you just buy boxes to sell them? As a player it is already hard enough to get packs or boxes. The average person gets screwed by shops opening up so much product for themselves. It is a TRADING card game ultimately. Not every local store can even secure product partly because of big stores doing this. Especially with how low some of these set's SRs and secrets go for it doesn't even make sense sometimes.

    • @masterlinktm
      @masterlinktm Месяц назад +1

      @@TylerKhan This is a valid and good question.
      So, I am going to pull some rough numbers and round. Lets say:
      the shop gets 10 full cases. Which is 120 boxes.
      Let's go wild and say selling each box earns $50 profit (they don't. it is far less but still)
      And let's go wild again and say they sell the full 10 cases.
      The store just earned...$6,000.
      Boosters come out about every 2-3 months.
      Do you see the problem? And this is with me MASSIVELY inflating the numbers.

    • @5p3cu10
      @5p3cu10 Месяц назад +1

      @@masterlinktmthis is a very decent response. I am not used to such a reasonable response 🤣
      I am not sure that's entirely true. My LGS doesn't open packs for any of the TCGs they stock. They only sell the sealed product and they have been in business for 20 years. So your statement isn't absolute.
      Furthermore if your business strategy revolves around RNG... Then that is fundamentally gambling. I would hesitate to say it's not a legitimate way to earn money. However it undeniably a terrible business strategy.
      Most stores don't survive after 2 years because they don't know (and therefore don't cater to) the local market.

      I think it’s mainly bc he’s calling Bandai “Scamdai” which sorta gives the Digimon tcg and community a bad rep as a whole, this guy sorta has to grow up and admit that he isn’t gonna get full profit off every single thing in his box/case bc it’s a TCG, it’s quite literally gambling (if you open boxes and cases) but with an added fun game, but you don’t even have to open boxes and cases to play the game, you can just buy them singular to play.

    Out of 8 cases, there is no excuse to not get a lottery cards pre 2 cases.
    In all honesty, it should be 1 PER CASE! if 288 packs. If it takes 4 cases to get a play set then Bandai gets there money PLUS, but to not 2 lottery cards from 8 cases it's insane.
    Totally screwing over the costumers, and the stores.
    Even for the secret rares they should be even.

      There is no money in the bulk.
      By the time you account for the labor in handling, your profit is gone. The only real way to get anything for them is to sell them as a lot or if someone adds them to an order that is already profitable.
