When I was growing up in the 70's-80's, you used your own car in the Safari section and there were little to no barriers...I mean the giraffes and llamas would literally stick their heads in your car!! And the monkeys!?!! Oh man, the monkeys!

the park started out as just a safari. that's why there are still animals there. six flags bought the safari property and started to add on rides to it. not the other way around.
