Dude, your videos have been a godsend. I ordered mine last month and it just arrived today so thanks for helping me accelerate the learning curve!
Glad I could help!
Bro you deserve more subscribers and likes.
Nice review ❤️
Thanks! Hope you found it helpful!
nice video bro, really informative
Thank you for the great video tutorial! It seems strange to me that the hybrid HR does not come with any user instructions. i had to weed through lots of websites and youtubes until I found yours! So Grateful!! I will be watching them all!
Thanks so much! I hope you find them helpful!
Excellent video! I’m actually getting mine delivered in 6-8 hours but I couldn’t wait and needed to see an unboxing now. I’m getting the brown one. I’ve watched a ton of videos before but yours is the first one to mention the glow in the dark hands difference. Oh well.
Thanks, and I'm so excited for you! I hope you enjoy the watch as much as I like mine!
I have the brown version, and the hands are different to the ones in this video. My watchface is Brown, and the hands glow!
I did find after a while that the hands on mine glow as well. It says here that I wrote that comment one year ago but it was in October 2020 and there isn’t a lot of daylight in Norway in October so it took me quite a while to have enough sunlight on it to see the glow. As for the watch itself I stopped wearing it after a while and gave it to my wife and then she stopped wearing it after a while. For me the tinted brown glass makes it difficult for me to actually read the complications. It was a fun good looking toy for a while but I found that I wanted something else. I now wear an analog automatic watch with big numbers and she wears a more advanced Garmin sports watch.
Great video, thank you
I have got the Brown version with the Brown watch face, it's hands are solid, and do glow in the dark!
Thanks for letting us know!
Just ordered mine yesterday 💪
Nice! What model/style did you choose?
Thanks for your videos about this watch. Very informative. I was looking at the brown one but was put off by how dark it actually is. Now knowing about the hands not glowing either I will probably choose one of the others.
How did you know about the hands and are any of the other options the same?
Great question! I found out about the glowing hands when I saw the watches in person at the Fossil store. I'm not 100% sure which of the other Hybrid HRs have glow-in-the-dark hands, so I would definitely recommend you check them out in person if possible and ask a Fossil representative.
Great idea on getting the black silicon to get the white hands! Im looking to pickup the silver full metal one to put on a tan leather strap too.
Any quirks youve found in the past week since upload?
p.s. Just checked you channel and a welcome back to RUclips seems to be in order ☺
Thanks! The silver metal one is an excellent choice! I've heard that some of the metal variants have a slightly different body shape/design than the leather/silicone versions. So switching out the metal band with a leather one can cause the watch body to rub against the leather band and leave marks. That said, I think it's mainly the gunmetal version that had that issue.
As for the watch itself, I think it's brilliant, but not perfect. It does what I need it to do and looks good doing it, but the UI just isn't as smooth or intuitive as Pebble. There's a lot of stuff that's not immediately obvious to new users of the platform.
By the way, I had a look at your channel and wanted to say that you're putting out some great content! I particularly love your visual/text effects!
@@ZaeemSiddiqui oh good point, I didn't think of the leather being worn differently. They do have a black silicon version in the FB-01 that comes with the silver face so that looks to use a normal band so hopefully that would be fine to add a leather one too.
And yeah okay, and with being eink it's slower to get to the menu you want to in general anyway. I think I just want it to see who's calling or read 2-factor text messages and things like that outside of the general fitness so happy for it to be not the best smart experience. Anything that minimises me reaching for my phone and getting sidetracked is worth it haha.
And thanks dude 😁 tbh I used to make a stack of custom graphics, which took hours and hours, but now I'm trying to upload weekly I just opt for the TOKO v3 pack, give it a google, well worth the money. I'll manually animate or motion track titles if there's something specific I want, but you can get a lot of really good lower thirds or full-screen typography in it. I used to think I had to do 100% of every video from the ground up, and quickly realised I just wasn't able to actually make the videos I wanted to haha so have chosen to not reinvent the wheel where possible :P
Excellentt of videos. Thanks so much for taking the time to do them. I've just come across them and this watch would be perfect for me, but I'm totally put off by the many reports of the condensation and background failure issues. How are you getting on with yours now after 18 months of ownership?
Glad I could help! I was also worried about the condensation and display fading problems that I had heard so much about. But since I got the watch, I've only experienced condensation once (you can see it in my Q&A video) and I haven't seen any display fading or hardware problems either, so I'm pretty happy with the Hybrid HR. It's working better than the day I got it, thanks to those software updates.
Hey Declan, just wanted to let you know that I published a new video talking about how the Hybrid HR has held up after 18 months of use: ruclips.net/video/QpHcqT-pu2I/видео.html
I thought you might find it helpful!
Great informative video. Thanks! I’m not very technology savvy, could you please let me know if this has water proofing enough for swim in shallow water and wearing this in rain? Also, please, if this watch works with out the mobile phone (just the time though)? Thanks in advance. 🙂
Hi Raihan,
The Hybrid HR has a 3 ATM rating, which means it is water resistant. It is NOT waterproof. It can handle rain or light splashes of water (like if you're washing your hands, for example), but I would not recommend wearing it while you go swimming.
The watch can work without your phone, but in a limited capacity. You can use watch-only functions like the timer and stopwatch but you won't get any notifications from your phone or be able to control your phone's music etc.
Appreciate your getting back. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the video. Do you know what does "Authorize your watch" mean? Does it include some kind of consents?
That's an excellent question!
It's been a while since I set this watch up, but I understood "Authorize Your Watch" to mean that you're allowing the Hybrid HR to receive notifications from your phone and control media playback and send heart rate/sleep/step counter data back to the phone etc.
^ That's what I think, anyway. You may want to try reaching out to Fossil directly to see if they can answer your question better.
Hey man, fantastic review! Just wondering if you're doing an update/full tour of this watch like u mentioned? Not to be rude but is it on a hiatus or something? Mind telling us when the vid is dropping?
Apologies for not having posted a new video! I'm definitely planning on doing a full update/tour at some point but my schedule's been super hectic so I don't know when I'll have time to do it. I've got a new Hybrid HR video coming out very soon, but in the meantime, I can answer any questions here in the comments if you want to know about something specific.
@@ZaeemSiddiqui Alright! Fosho man.. Thanks for responding, looking forward to your new vid
New video is up!
@@ZaeemSiddiqui noice :)
I've been looking for something like a Timex Ironman USB Datalink 851 to keep my Outlook (and or Google Calendar) apponitments, reminders, and contacts at hand. Was sold on the Fossil Hybrid HR but I think I am getting conflicting information. Does this have a separate Calendar app, do I have to import my calendar file, or can I access it through Wear OS? Also, can you back up your watch onto a phone or PC (in case it breaks or is upgraded)?
Hi vdelrio999,
The Hybrid HR does not have any kind of calendar app or calendar-related settings. It just shows you the calendar notifications (appointments, reminders, tasks etc.) from your phone. You also cannot choose what calendar notifications show up on the watch; it either shows all calendar notifications or none at all. I've got multiple Google Calendars and Outlook calendars on my phone and the Hybrid HR will show me notifications from all of them.
As far as I know, there is no way to back up anything from the watch onto your phone or computer. The watch regularly syncs everything with the Fossil app on your phone, so all your info (daily step tracking, heart rate logs, sleep tracking etc.) is linked to your Fossil account. You can manage all watch-related settings through that app as well.
Hello again! I just posted a detailed new video about notifications on the Hybrid HR and it includes a few examples of calendar and email notifications. I hope you find it helpful! You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/-pyo3BsBRZ4/видео.html
Nice and informative video! Quick question though: how did you edit the background of your watch?
You can choose custom backgrounds in the Customization tab in the Fossil app.
Just posted a new video on how to customize the Hybrid HR!
Salaam Zaeem, I have just ordered for Tan leather watch but after seeing your explanation for the glow in the dark. Am in the urge to change to silicone black watch :-|
What do you say?
WSalaam. Honestly, the glow-in-the-dark hands are cool, but I wouldn't call them a must-have feature. If you really really want them and it's easy to change your order, go for it. Otherwise, I'm sure you'll love the Tan Leather version (it does look really cool!) and you won't regret getting it over the Black Silicone one.
Thank you so much for replying instantly, and your videos are not just informative but also amazingly video graphed & edited
Can you put different backgrounds on it? I'd like a more traditional analog display with Roman numerals etc. all I want is the pulse measuring and the sleep cycle analysis. Don't care about the other features.
Great question! You absolutely can put different backgrounds on it! You can choose your own background and add whatever information dial you want to really customize the look. There's no dial for sleep cycle analysis, but there is one for the heart rate.
I show how to do that in my Customization video here: ruclips.net/video/frb72MRh3s8/видео.html
I've also put a list of websites in the description for that ^ video where you can go to download different watch face designs.
If you're interested in a traditional watch face with Roman numerals, you might like this one: get-faces.herokuapp.com/watch:233
Does the Fossil e-ink display fades off with time?
I want my watch to be perfect for atleast 5-7 years.
Great question! The display will likely fade over time, and some users have seen their displays fade already. I've had mine for about 2 years and it's still as clear as it was when I got it. So it really depends on your watch, I suppose.
Hi. Great video. My fossil watch is new but I'm struggling to charge it. They showed me how to use the charger but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Any tips
That's interesting. Are you charging it from a wall outlet or the USB port on your computer?
@@ZaeemSiddiqui hi. Thanks for responding. Turns out it is was an ID10 error 😔. Figured it out
Glad you got it sorted!
Hi. My watch disconnects a lot. I then sync it and start receiving notifications again. After a while it disconnects and the disconnect icon reflects on my phone even though I've set up the app to not disconnect. Any idea why that happens?
Assalamualaikum, Thankyou for your review, saya baru dapat hadiah dan bingung bagaimana cara menggunakannya, ternyata bisa disambungkan ke aplikasi😅 Terima kasih🙏🏻
WSalaam. Terima kasih! Saya memiliki video yang lebih baru yang mungkin juga bermanfaat. Anda dapat melihatnya di saluran saya.
(Saya harap komentar ini masuk akal! Saya menggunakan Google Translate 😅)
I want to buy this watch, just waiting on the $150 sale. Do you have a update on this watch?
I will have a new video out soon (hopefully!)
@lee frazier: its now on sale on amazon for $139
Hey! Great video. Just picked up this watch and can’t seem to get iMessage messages coming through... I can get WhatsApp to work on it and phone calls also work. Any ideas on how to fix this 😁?
Congrats on getting the watch! Have you enabled notifications for iMessage using the Fossil app? You go to the Alerts section at the bottom of the app and then you should see a list of apps with notifications enabled. Maybe iMessage is disabled from there?
@@ZaeemSiddiqui thanks for the reply! Yes it’s all enabled :/. I’ve saw others having this problem. Maybe it’ll just take some time!
Another option could be to go to Settings --> Notifications --> Messages --> Show Previews and select "Always (Default)". Sometimes it's set to "Never," which can cause issues.
Hi! Sorry if it's a basic question, but I was wondering if your watch can track your steps and workout without Bluetooth connection? I don't want to have Bluetooth turned on on my phone all the time. I only want to use a watch for counting my steps, maybe track a workout and to have a wake up alarm. I don't want notifications or weather at all. Can I use this fossil HR without a constant Bluetooth connection? Thanks in advance :)
No need to apologize, it's a great question!
The Hybrid HR can work without a Bluetooth connection to your phone. It'll still keep track of your steps, heart rate, workouts, sleep cycle etc. But without that phone connection, it can't track your location (for stuff like walks, runs, cycle activities).
Also, the Hybrid HR needs to sync with your phone at least once every 2 weeks, otherwise, you'll lose all the steps/heart rate/sleep data that it's been tracking.
You can also use it as an alarm clock without Bluetooth connection, but you need to have set the alarm through your Fossil app before you turned off Bluetooth on your phone.
@@ZaeemSiddiqui thank you for the thorough explanation! :) I have another question: can you turn off the Bluetooth of the watch so it won't search for connection all the time?
As far as I know, there's no way turn Bluetooth off on the Hybrid HR. But it doesn't seem to affect battery life too much.
I'm Alex Anderson.... I am still waiting for you downtown, how much longer are you going to be?
Running late! I'll meet you in downtown soon!
So I'm trying to put it into pairing mode, but instead of going into pairing, it prepares to do a hard reset.
In my case its my phone which does not seem to find the fossil, works fine with my work phone..
I got it to work on my personal phone by deleting the app data and cache for the app, though it might also just have been luck.
It’s been more than a year you posted this video.I want to what is the condition of the watch now
You can check out my most recent video (ruclips.net/video/gNDLwQWrEmM/видео.html) to see what the Hybrid HR looks like now, but I'll try to post a video specifically about what the watch is like after a year of constant use.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I published a new video talking about how the Hybrid HR has held up after 18 months of use: ruclips.net/video/QpHcqT-pu2I/видео.html
Is there a way for it to light up in the dark? I can't see it at night.
Hi, James. If you tap the watch twice (on the side or on the glass), the 4 LEDs turn on. You can see how to do it in this video: ruclips.net/video/c5-hfVLbdow/видео.html (it's around the 2:19 mark).
How to charge the smartwatch? Should we connect the charger with any power adapter of Mobile phone?
You can plug the charging cable into your computer's USB port or in a suitable phone charger. Unfortunately there's no charging block/power adapter in the box.
Im using this watch since today and got a question: Why is my watch scanning my heart rate all the time, even if i lay down my watch ?
The Hybrid HR can't tell if you're wearing it or not, so it just constantly tries to track your heart rate until the battery dies. As far as I know, there's no way to control the heart rate tracking. You can't turn it off or adjust the frequency.
Does it use/can use the phone GPS for navigation for running/cycling ?
Hey Maxlo, just wanted to let you know that Fossil recently released an update and you can now turn the Heart Rate sensor off! You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/c5-hfVLbdow/видео.html
Can it use phone GPS for navigation during running or cycling?
Hi Abhishek,
Great question! Fossil released an update recently that lets you track more activities (like cycling) and it can now use your phone's GPS to track your route as well!
Interesting. I’ve been searching everywhere about info on bicycle use and I haven’t found it anywhere else. Although mine is an electric assist bike so it may not give fair fitness readouts anyway after a trip. But knowing how far you’ve travelled is nice.
My wife just ordered me one of these, however the box was missing the charger. Have you ever heard of this?
I've not heard of that happening before. Did you try contacting the seller?
I got this watch - I think you have off-ed the Backlight in settings .
The interface has changed a lot since I published this video, but you're right that that feature is in the settings menu.
can you close the "smart" watch by yourself? like when the battery finish
Great question! There's no way to turn the Hybrid HR off yourself. It will only stop when the battery runs out.
@@ZaeemSiddiqui thanks .thr "turn off" is important for shabes :)
Maybe they'll add that feature in a future update! For now, even if you can't turn it off, you can always put it on Do Not Disturb mode or just turn off your phone's Bluetooth if you'd prefer not to have any notifications. I guess you could also turn the heart rate sensor off, too.
7:00 "Press the middle button", he presses the bottom button.
No unfortunately it is not showing time same as phone. I tried every Avenue reinstalling app removing phone from app and Bluetooth
But it still did not work. There is no tab on registration to register location of owner.
Any advice jaspal
That seems really annoying. Could it be that your watch hands aren't calibrated properly?
Can you change the language? So that the day of the week is not displayed in English. So that "Mi"(German) instead of "Wed" stands for Wednesday
Excellent question! There's no way to change languages in the Fossil app, but it automatically matches whatever your phone language is.
I just changed my phone's language to Deutsch and the Hybrid HR automatically changed the day from "Thur" (Thursday) to "Do" (Donnerstag).
In my watch it shows "firmware update failed". How to fix it?
That's a good question! I'm not sure why it would do that unless the Bluetooth connection got messed up somehow. Have you tried contacting Fossil directly?
@@ZaeemSiddiqui i tried through fossil hybrid apps.
Is there only english font can read on notice? Any other language support?
Great question! The Hybrid HR does support other languages when showing notifications, but not every language. You can see what some languages look like in these videos:
- ruclips.net/video/-pyo3BsBRZ4/видео.html
- ruclips.net/video/fbjFofNGHks/видео.html

@@ZaeemSiddiqui thanks for your reply. Normally i set my iPhone language in english , but I’m Thai. So i always use Thai language in chat. just want to make sure that notice message will be in english as same as phone setting. It doesn’t show exactly message received.
Do we have find the phone feature...
There's a feature called "Ring My Phone" that plays an alarm tone on your phone to help you find it.
with which charger to charge .. with 1A? or?
According to the Fossil website, the charger should be at least 0.5A for fast charging (0% to 80% in 1 hour).
@@ZaeemSiddiqui but i have charger for smartwatches two ports ....
5v-1A - i charge on this port ??
5v-2A
Does it have an alarm clock ?
It does have alarms but you have to set them from the Fossil app on your phone.
How to on lights in this watch
Good question! You can tap twice on the watch to turn the front light on. I show how to do that in this video: ruclips.net/video/fbjFofNGHks/видео.html
Hi my watch keep showing USA time.how can I set up for GB uk time
Jaspal
If your phone is showing UK time and the Hybrid HR syncs with it, the Hybrid HR should show the same time as your phone.
How can I reset the Fossil Hybrid HR??
Good question! If you hold the middle button down for about 5 seconds, you should see a reset message appear. Keep holding the middle button down and the Hybrid HR will reset.
Does it sync data with google fit?
Great question! Yes it does. There's an option in the app settings at lets you sync with Google Fit. It syncs your steps, workouts (walks/runs/bike rides etc.), sleep data, and heart rate.
@@ZaeemSiddiqui Thanks a lot for your reply.
My watch is doesn't showing display what to do?
If it's not showing the dials, have you tried long-pressing the top button?
@@ZaeemSiddiqui yes I tried but it doesn't worked.
How we can set a time
Good question! When you connect your watch to your phone, it will automatically set the time.
Mine has not been charged in 4 weeks and the battery is still 9%
That's pretty impressive!
Tell me how to call from my watch
You can't call people from the watch, but you can answer/decline calls and send a quick response text message.
Can the watch be turned on and off?
Great question! There's no way to turn the watch on/off. You just have to wait for the battery to run out.
@@ZaeemSiddiqui OK thanks, I have just bought the watch and I'm finding your videos very useful!
I'm glad they're helping! And congratulations on getting the watch!
is it worth today?
I think it's still worth it (I use mine every day) but only if you know and understand what you're getting (e.g., if you expect it to have all the features of an Apple Watch or a Samsung Galaxy Watch, you are obviously going to be disappointed).
Hey we have same name!!
That's so cool!
