Honestly, it's a GOOD ending. Because to be fair, Lloyd and Harry's friendship almost got destroyed a couple of times because of women. And the movie is SUPPOSED to be about their friendship. If they did get on that bus, would that really be a good ending? What would've happened to their friendship? And when they said they're gonna catch their break someday, they probably meant a break....from women. That shows you what good, real friends they are and how much they care about their friendship.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the ending and think it was the right choice. It's just as a young man watching that movie I died a little inside thinking of passing up that opportunity haha

You missed the gag, but when Lloyd said he'd bet him that he'd get him to gamble by the end of the day, the moment Harry took the bet Lloyd won because by taking the bet he got him to gamble. But lloyd is so dumb he doesn't realize this.
To think...Jim Carrey released Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, AND Ace Ventura the same year is absolutely absurd. That's more success than most actors entire careers!
