    Let us know what you think about the current slate for AC. Personally, I miss when Ubisoft made a wide variety of game series, including the Assassin's Creed games. This has become very common in the entertainment industry, however, to just hyper focus on one thing to maximize profit. Oh dude I really wish they would go back to Rayman. We need a Rayman 4. Or at least remake/remaster the old games(kind of like the trilogies for Spyro and crash)

    If the MCU has proven something is that oversaturation is very real. Sure, if all the releases turn out good that might be a different story. I truly doubt that will be the case though, especially considering this is Ubisoft and they would be spreading their resources even thinner which is assured to turn out a worse product.
    Awful direction for this series to go in, imo.

    To be honest, Ubisoft shouldn't have to make too many assassins creed and Instead of making New ips or Rayman so I don't understand why they always be hyper focused on it instead of Rayman,good and evil,etc.

    I have more hobbies than just video games, but even if we ignore that I don’t have the time for that much Assassin’s Creed.

    Personally, I feel like AC needs a new direction in both story and gameplay. I think they should take a chance and try to reestablish Desmond as a main character again, like somehow he's still alive within the code of the Animus and starts trying to search for a way out, maybe through one of the pieces of Eden or through a new body, possibly as a host for Desmond. They need to bring the story into the modern day, remind players that the Templars are a genuine threat still, maybe even bring Aiden Pearce from Watch_Dogs into the series and show that he's also tracking the Templars without realizing it. There's a lot of different routes they could go, but I want to see the series recapture the essence of the Ezio & Kenway trilogies again. Also not everything needs to be open world, a few different cities or areas to explore is all you need in these games, it's the story that needs to be focused on the most.

    All the money and time they spent on AC Shadows and so little it went to research and development that every few weeks a new scandal on how disrespectful and distasteful this game was to Japan and Japanese culture, to the extent they were forced to delay it last minute. And they want to drop 10 more of these before they've even proven that they fixed Shadows? I don't know who Ubisoft disrespects more the customer or Japan. We can't even trust they'll meet expectations on one game, let alone 10, six months apart. The only successful game they launched this year... they shut down the studio. That doesn't instill confidence.

    Yeah, I think they really are overdoing it. Actually, I think things started to go downhill in the ending of brotherhood(that random decision to remove Lucy from the picture). After that, the story started to get more confusing, more false advertising, and just cranking out AC games like it’s going out of style. I lost interest in the franchise after Rogue(I had fun with the ship combat and whale hunting)

    I'm finally playing through AC Unity for the first time right now, and I'm completely blown away by how good it is. Their version of Paris here may be the single most immersive game world I have experienced in the entire AC series, and I've played them all except for the latest Mirage. The volume of active NPCs on the screen at any given moment in the streets is astounding. And if you stop to examine these NPCs, they are not just lifeless husks like the freaks you'd see in Starfield, for example. They look and feel like genuine people you'd find in the streets of Paris during that time. I honestly don't understand how Ubisoft ever thought the last gen consoles would be able to handle AC Unity. My XBOX Series X can barely keep up, and the game is nearly a decade old.

    I just played through the Ezio collection and as simple as those games are, each one takes 15 or so hours to basically fully complete. They just genuinely are interesting. They feel like time has actually gone into the right places.
    Now they are too scared to even stick to one character, creating something new every game and trying to quickly tape it all together, it just doesn’t work.
    Origins i played, somewhat enjoyed, wasn’t too invested , lost even more in Oddysey and Valhalla. But Unity is standalone and by far my favourite so it proves that it can work.
    Ac 2 , brotherhood, and revelations all came out in like 2-3 years and yet felt more like an actual game then any of these new ones seem to me. More like chores at this point to run through.
    The simple title sequence of AC2 has more feeling to it than any of the dialogue in the past few AC games.
    The issue really isn’t too many games, it’s just the games aren’t very good , and the writing is just way worse than it was

      And people continue to buy and pre order.
      If you continue to buy these games you are telling the execs that their current model is fine and that they can get away with more.

    The bloat or these games is also a problem but it is also a preference/subjective thing. AC Origins is a FUN game, the story is solid and the world they created is accurate and a joy to adventure through, Odyssey just had a fun world and Valhalla lacked everything.
    Valhalla left me with a disgusting tatse in my mouth and Mirage was OK and i hope AC Shadows will be good I'm excited for the game and both Noae and Yasuke. But the lack of overall direction is hurting this franchise and the mythology creeds except for Origins aren't AC games to me.

    I can’t keep up with the series either, I don’t platinum, I just try to finish and each of the RPG trilogy took me over a year each to finish. I have touched the Valhalla dlc or Mirage yet.

    Instead of all these Assassins Creed games just give me a sequel to Prince of Persia the Lost Crown.

    • @DegenerateJay
      @DegenerateJay  23 дня назад +1

      Yep but that's unlikely now after what they're doing with the studio :/

    • @ronniefazzio6979
      @ronniefazzio6979 23 дня назад

      @DegenerateJay Yeah, it’s quite sad. Prince of Persia the Lost Crown was an excellent game that did everything right. People just didn’t come out to support it and it unfortunately got caught in the crossfire of the culture war because of the main character’s design. I’m sure the game will continue to sell as positive word of mouth spreads. Some outlets reported that as of October 23rd the game had sold 1 million copies.

    Great video Jay and Nate and to answer your question Jay even though I love the AC series it’s was the first game series I really got into the stories and a Ac game every 6 months is way too much even a AC game every year is too much if they planning on making 20 in a short period

    The only AC games i genuinely don't like are Syndicate, Valhalla and the Chronicles games as they wasted the rich settings. BF i dislike due to the naval combat I've never liked it back in AC3 i hated those missions, i think BF is overrated.
    I'm still interested in this franchise, i love this franchise as the concept is so, so cool and interesting, the amount of history/cultures and conflicts they could explore is endless, i think spacing out the games a bit more pushing Books, Comics, TV shows/Animation could be the way forward.
    As the real world narrative has been abandoned/dropped somehow included in a seperate franchise with Watch Dogs Legion rather than an actual AC TiTle is baffling, for me thats the thing its lacking, that back and forth between the past and the present. The war between Abstergo/Templar and The Assassins.
