The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. Active across seven decades, they are one of the most popular and enduring bands of the rock era. In the early 1960s, the band pioneered the gritty, rhythmically driven sound that came to define hard rock. Their first stable line-up consisted of vocalist Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones, bassist Bill Wyman, and drummer Charlie Watts.
"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" is a song recorded by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. A product of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards' songwriting partnership, it features a guitar riff by Richards that opens and drives the song. The riff by Richards is widely considered one of the greatest hooks of all time. The song lyrics refer to sexual frustration and commercialism.

Keith is the king of riffs, this song is so simple but the stones made a huge hit out of that riff.

I never understood Mick Jagger's vocal approach until I saw an old video of The Stones performing with Muddy Waters. That immediately explained everything and, since I was already a big Muddy Waters fan, gave me a new appreciation for Jagger's voice.
Mick is not a classic singer, he is a monster blues artist, and the quintessential rock singer. After all it’s only Rock and Roll but I like it.

This is Rock n Roll. By design and intent it isn't meant to be "perfect". Also this is 1966 era of live music technology. As you said; this is "nuanced" and I would add that this is nuanced in a way that literally defines what 60's rock and roll is striving to achieve. The fact that we are discussing this performance nearly six decades later is a testament to how definitive and formative The Rolling Stones are as a band. I wouldn't even consider myself a Rolling Stones fan but I definitely appreciate the mark that they made on music (and by extension, human) history. This is the definition of classic rock and roll.

Have to admit I never really rated Jagger but on reflection; 1) he sang as well live (and in tune) as in the studio and 2) he had real stamina and his voice held up amazingly well for the duration of concerts and over the years generally (his singing and speaking voice never changed).

Also worth noting is that this was the last truly live appearance by the Stones on Ed Sullivan. When they returned later that year, they used a prerecorded backing track for Mick and Keith to sing over. Never the same for live TV.
Although I understand how your followers may cast their votes for oftenthe most famous of each artists songs my simplevrequest is to give somenof the lesser known,yet still noteworthy tunes a chance too.

The record was deemed the greatest of all time by a large syndicate of Rock Stations on their 300 record countdown over an entire weekend! People don't realize how big this song was. These BAD BOYS of British rock totally eclipsed the Beatles during 1966, forcing them to reinvent themselves! The Stones led to everything in rock, from Grunge, Heavy Metal, Country Rock, L.A. and San Francisco rock, you name it!

Being slightly out of rhythm is common for the World's Greatest Rock Band. I believe it's called the Stones Wobble. Keith lays down the rhythm, drums (Charlie) is bit behind him, and the bass (Bill) is a bit ahead.

In the summer of 1965 this song often led the transition from the five minute news break back the music on rock stations.
My favorite interviews from the Sixties happened on their next tour. One of the reporters asked if the band was anymore satisfied and got one of the biggest laughs I've ever heard.
need to watch the 1969 tour version of them doing this song- the sound / technology really changed by 69
It is a common theme that the most popular songs and artists often get crap for not being technical enough. Might be a lesson there.
The sync issues could also be the mixing tech of the time introducing slight delays from various inputs.
My mom had a hidden stash of rock albums. She had every rollong stones album. Dad would not allow any rock music in the house. She shared them with me and says my first words were "I can't get no !"
I yelled it over and over. But even at 2 yrs. old I knew not to say those words when my dad was home from work.
They divorced over a boy George album she accidentally left in a chair in the living room.
After dad left we played any genre of music we wanted to!
Re. monitor systems in this period: there were none. Nada. The Stones had their guitars, amps, drums and microphones, and that was it. Any screaming from the audience immediately made it difficult for them (or other bands of the period) to hear each other on stage. The ultimate example of this is The Beatles at Shea Stadium, using the stadium's PA to compete (in vain) with 50,000 screaming people, yet they managed to stay reasonably together. The Stones themselves didn't have a decent sound system with onstage monitors until their 1969 US tour.
Im waiting for their final tour, The Wheelchair Tour with Mick jumping around on stage with a walker and Keith in a hospital bed with his guitar!

The Stones were clearly not at home on the Ed Sullivan Show which offered a wide variety of musical and other acts to a huge American audience (from Opera to circus acts). Mick Jagger would have been one of the most raw and radical of musical performers to ever grace the Ed Sullivan stage.

Even back then a lot of TV shows had singers lip sync, had studio versions of songs.
This song was 'banned' because of its sexual explicitness. Well, we sixties kids took that ban for about 10 seconds. This song was the first 🇺🇸 hit for the band partly rebellion, partly..it's a great song. From one of their best albums 'Out of our Heads'...it definitely brought out the blues/rock genres developing into the Rolling Stones sound. Honestly...it was more than just sex.

Eagles weren’t around in the mid 60s. Also, they are known for being notoriously boring live, even if they are pitch perfect. Stones really understood what makes a great performance. They were a sloppy mess live for most of the 60s. It wasn’t until PA came along and audiences started listening that they became known for their concerts. Early 70s is considered the golden age for live Stones. Although I personally prefer the lineup shown in your video at this particular point in time. 65-67 Stones is the best.

Beth, this is well known clip among Stones fans. Please note, Keith cuts in and out throughout the video. His fuzz pedal malfunctioned and he is trying to get it working and is distracted. That’s the timing issue. Please do a little more background research going forward.

When it first came out, it was catnip to my young ears. The girls screaming reminds me how much I hated it to the core. I disliked the Beatles eary on because of it.
