    In my opinion, if you're going to place large benches where multiple people sit on them at once it is a more pleasant experience to have a curved bench rather than to sit in a straight line where people have to lean over to talk to someone at the other end of the bench.

    • @jenniferbrooks-rieck8797
      @jenniferbrooks-rieck8797 Год назад +19

      Agree, I think a curved bench would be more pleasing to conversations and visually. Not that anything looks bad that they do, quite the opposite. Everything is beautiful!

    • @user-jv1qc4ls2h
      @user-jv1qc4ls2h Год назад +33

      I don't think that matching the exact curvatures is at all necessary. Another advantage of a curved bench is that it is a repetition of shapes, curved shapes. This is always pleasing to the eye.

    • @LB-vl3qn

      Agreed. The straight bench was jarring and completely at war with the curve. Repeating shapes are restful to the eye, even when they don't match exactly. The eye sees the repetition, not the exact measurements. ~ Lisa

      I love the way you both did the circle in the cutting garden. It’s going to be gorgeous!
      Oh, when we had our fish pond, a friend
      made me a floater thing. It refilled the pond when it got too low automatically. It looks like you could do that with the fountain. Sure would be easier.
      Laura when you mentioned the heels of your feet hurting, I bought insoles on Amazon. They really helped. They fit inside your shoes.

  • @MsBridgesSocial
    @MsBridgesSocial Год назад +251

    Just my opinion, but as an architectural designer, I would think a curved bench would be more suited to that space. With the curve of the circle, a curved bench would be more consistent and look like they were designed with the space in mind.

    • @CharliecatII
      @CharliecatII Год назад +14

      I vote for the curve bench as well because I think it would have a touch of whimsy to the formality of it

    • @loissaedder2214
      @loissaedder2214 Год назад +10

      Unless the curve of the bench matches the curve on the ground, I think it would look strange.

    • @richlandzee8686
      @richlandzee8686 Год назад

      Depends on the circle size. The bigger the circle, the more awkward the curved bench. Another thing which comes to mind is if you buy a 55" curved TV and a flat TV, sit 2 feet away and 8 feet away when you watch a movie and see if you notice any immersiveness of the curve. TV manufacturer do this so they can charge more for it but it didn't work. Let's see how this turns out in the end.

    I think the curved benches would look great, you need to remember it’s not a solid block as the cardboard represents. It’s light and airy with air and light showing. Also, the soil you’re digging in…is it now all supplemented with Espoma or just where the gardens are? Love seeing your vision come to life!

    I think that maybe if you got a fountain that size (something like the one that broke in the side yard next to the barn), it might look too large compared to the flower shed.
    To me, the flower shed has a meadowy cottage feel, and a large fountain has more of a French estate feel, it might clash because they're two large structures in close proximity.

    When you think about the bench shape, remember that it's not going to look the same as a cardboard template sitting on the ground. It will be elevated with lots of other elements feeding information to the eye. If you look at other places where circular fountains of that size are installed, most of the time you'll see that curved benches are used. There's a reason for that. ~ Lisa

    The clean sharp lines are so pleasing. Cutting and moving that sod is a lot of work.

    Totally jealous with you two…you have a decent partnership happening here. I cant get a straight answer out of my husband. It’s always - ‘it’s up to you…’ in regards to my questions about the garden. I never have anyone to ‘spitball’ with. You have a partnership that’s awesome.

    I love how you guys work together 👌❤ have you thought of getting Benny to create a cement circle fountain, say 1 foot tall? It can be like a wading pool for the kids, and wouldn't obstruct the garden shed..might even have different spray options?

    Or instead of a stand alone fountain, you could build an in ground pond, either flush with the ground or with a raised edge that is seat height. In the pond you could have a center fountain and then have goldfish and hardy water lilies, how gorgeous would that be?

      Yes ! Never enough wet habitat for amphibians and insects in those dry lands. Although, that would mean no fish as they'd eat absolutly everything...

      @@noemierollindedebeaumont1130 Yes, the waterlilies make a great landing pad for bees. I have goldfish in my pond and they eat the algae, but leave the other aquatic plants alone. And having them really balances out the ecosystem.

    A fountain would look nice with maybe a flower bed around the base. Or a nice statue with a garden around it. Love all your projects and ideas. Whatever you decide I am sure it will look great all the way around! Curved benches have my vote as well.

    Everything is nice. When will you both create playground area for the children all that property you're blessed with all for gardening. Such as wood playset, sandbox, picnic table & chairs with umbrella kid friendly spaces perhaps a gated pool area.
