I'm a 63 yo lady! I've just started my first walking stick and I'm so excited!! No idea what I'm doing but it's my hearts desire. I love it! Always have loved whittling, etc. Dad and brother made so many things.. they've gone to heaven. Thank you for this video! And the encouragement!! God bless you all! ❤
Be safe :)
@CarvingFusion thank you!
I would love to see how your first stick came out!
I’m 59 yr old lady..I’ve never done wood working but intend on learning I just finished a couple “ plain” walking sticks.. but now I wanna carve!
:)
😁I’m a 58 yr old lady & have loved carving all kinds of walking sticks for years! So much fun & so many things you can do.. this channel has so many great ideas I haven’t thought of yet .. have fun!!
You're the most Canadian person I've ever seen lol
I was commissioned to make a walking stick for someone, which was way out of my norm. I hope mine turns out as good as this. Thanks for the tip to use an angle grinder at the start. I wouldn't have thought of that.
Lol thank you eyyyy
Love the doggie! Glad you were nice to it, dogs deserve all the love we have. Always. Makes me like your channel even more now!
This is the first video of yours I have ever seen. I loved watching how fun and simple you made this look.
I am going to go to your page and watch a few more of you making wonderful creations.
Thank you
Jody is awesome I have watched a lot of wood carving that he has done great job he got me into wood carving just by watching his videos very informative keep up the good work Jordy
When you said it is "Common sense" but some people may have no clue.
I am one never having done woodwork. I go to an auction and they always have tools very cheap.
Bought a nice Dremel for $20 got 2 now - and Jigsaws, grinders, chopsaws. I am excited to try some of your projects.
Thanks so much for these tutorials.
Jordy, you have the best, most entertaining and informative channel on RUclips for all things carving!! Super cool walking stick buddy! Love your work!
Thank you :)
Interesting. I've made canes for a bunch of years, but no walking stick; but been planning on making one, but will use a 2x4. I would never make one like you did, but what the Hell, that is for you and you seem quite pleased with it - which is what counts. Nice work.
Nice work. I have done woodworking most of my working life, but I've never made a walking stick. You definitely made it look easy, and I say work smart, not hard.
How do you think that would hold up to giving someone...uh I mean something a good whack! Do you think it would break? Thinking of making one for walks through the park trails.
No this one wouldn't break ,,choose a hardwood
Where did you get that small cutter? It sounded like you said mampa or mapa cutter but I can't fine either one.
Manpa tools triangle cutter
@@CarvingFusion Thanks Jordy. Love your vids.
Congratulations, you're doing it!!!
Turned out really nice, I just cut a locust sapling in Missouri to make my first walking stick...subscribed.
Thank u
You make it look effortless
I tried this morning on some pine 3x2 just a simple mini tiki face but wasn’t as easy or as quick as I thought
Id like to send you pics of my first attempts.
Just keep at it
Hello just found your video finally was great very informative. I’m just a beginner carving sticks but I really like your videos. Cheers
Thank u
What talent you have . Super duper job , I'd love to be able to buy one from you.
Awesome thank you
That walking stick is almost as tall as me ........ dam I’m short, great job Jordy 👍.
Absolutely amazing! My next project. The Master at making Masterpiece’s! Good stuff Jordy
I think you should put a nice natural small rock in the top of the stick ,above the wood spirit head and face. It'd look cool. What you think?(Robin)
Good idea
You're not allowed unless you pass your O.W.Ls
Awesome walking stick. I have limbs drying. I'm hoping to get on them soon. I am thinking about Christmas gifts already.
Fantastic walking stick jordy . ❤
nice i have some cedar and pecan drying out just for walking sticks cant wait to try em out stay safe keep carving
Happy Trails that Arbutis stick will get you a long way. Fun designs are neat on them! Canes can be nice to carve as well.
Magic to watch, gonna give it a go.
Great idea using the grinder to cut the prep time Great ideas on the hand grip Jordy 💡 👍 The burning of the cracks is a fantastic idea as I've collect some sticks for walking sticks and thought they were useless because of the cracks I did one years ago when I found your channel but after watching this I want to attack it and redo it I'm not sure about your new style bit I think you have to have alot of carving experience to use it in a delicate carve A simple carve for you and still looks amazing Love it Thanks Jordy 😊
Is it worth the effort ?
Nice walking Stick jordy they are on my to do list
I love doing walking sticks half way through one now like the look of yours I buy shovel handles from the hardware store and use them not to much free wood where I live 👍
Good idea
I bet you were hell on wheels in your younger years !!! Great ideas for beginners , some folks just need to know where to start

I never thought to use an angle grinder. I'd have just used a knife. Good idea!
NICE walking stick bro glad to see 👀 the puppy had you trained well hahaha stay safe Just carve
Truly nice work!
Love it Jordy.
Geordie have you thought about putting epoxy resin to fill in cracks.macking walking sticks is how I got into carving.all the carvings you have don is just brilliant.so keep doing what you do best so I can lurn
I have a big stick like that I can make myself a walking stick instead of using a cane. Nice job Jordy. 😊

@@CarvingFusion Happy Birthday my friend.
Great video my friend.
Jordy I have made walking sticks with just a knife...BUT after following you for a while now, I need some tools. I especially love what you do with a Dremel and now I am on the hunt for a used one.
Thanks so much for this video, in particular, I am going to give it a go. I have a dozen sticks still with the bark on but now I know I HAVE BEEN PICKING THE WRONG SIZED STICK and gotta try the way YOU CARVE OUT A HANDLE AND TOPPED OFF WITH THE "WOOD SPIRIT".
Awesome thank you
Good idea to use a angle grinder to take off the bark, and sanding down the nubs of the branches
Looks great Jordy
Looks great brother. Appreciate the video
I appreciate it
Nice work sir 👏🏻👏🏻
good job Jordy, i like your saftey mask , saftey first
Looks very cool! Good job!
This is awesome 🤩
Thank u
I'm working on my own but I filled the cracks with wood filler because there was to many now I need to sand it and then carve something awesome in it
What machine would you need to put hedge or something of approximate size in so it comes out a staff
Not sure what you mean sorry
Wow, love this video
Nice Jordy !!! The cracks look cool but if you're selling it people say ohhh man the cracks weakin the wood ,,lol but if they want it they want it if not oh well
That’s awesome Jordy 🫶✌🏼😎
Lovely💞🇹🇭 Thanks for the easy tutorial😀👌
Can you make a video on how you make a sander with all that sandpaper please?
awesome stick Bro wondering where you get the rust olium clear coat what store cant find in my area thks Jordy
I think most big store have it
@@CarvingFusion thks Jordy gonna check home depot
Sweet stick man👍 I've carved a few but it takes me a lot longer than you with your fancy pants two working hands , I walk with a stick because of my left side weakness I find that a bigger stick like the one you just carved is much better because when you're out walking and stop to take in the wild life or whatever you can rest your chin on the top .
Amazing work. Thanks
How much does those sell for and how long does it take start to finish ....amazing work btw
Very cool!!
Underrated I'm subbing my step dad taught me to carve wood I'm 9😅
Awesome good for you
So cool Jordy. I'll be having a go at that. ✌
Whats that carving bit called? Its a lot beefier than anything I've seen for a dremel.
Kutzall
I use a machete to take the bark off, works great as long as its sharp lol
like this guy no fluff to be fake....he is his self SUBED!!!
THANKS Rick and welcome
I'm torn. Do you walk, or make sticks for those that do?
Both
New subscriber. Like the walking stick my friend. I really need to get one. Great vid.
awesome very inspirational
Ty
Wicked bro ...Arbutus I got to try that
Around my neck of the woods is an invasive bush called honeysuckle that I’ve found to make excellent walking sticks with little effort, you just need to find a straight one cut it green let it dry in a jig to keep it straight for about six months. Leave them outside out of the sun with the bark on, these sticks are hard lightweight but very sturdy. By the way how do you heat your shop... work faster?
Awsome! My Dremel 4300 just arrived and I've never drawn or carved a damn thing! I am confused about shank size for burrs. Will a 4300 accept multiple sizes and then just tighten them down?
Shank size 1/8 for dremel , 1/4 for die grinders or foredom
@@CarvingFusion Thanks. Enjoy your normal guy approach to life and carving
Arbutus wood is very hard , after drying for a year it's like concrete. Trees with leaves that fall off are hard wood including Balsa.
I wish you could see some of the Spiral walking sticks that I have they're natural spirals done by Nature she does a fantastic job. if you don't know how to find them I'm going to tell you the edge of clearings where honeysuckles grow that's the best place to find a natural spiral in a walking stick you can even find them larger with the spiral on them that make good ornamental posts or banisters anything you want to use them for cuz they're in all sizes just a little tip. thanks for your video I'm getting me one of those Dremel Cutters like that that's excellent I've never seen them
:) Thank you
Measuring is the Same for ski poles.
Google what tool? I can't find that cutting bit
It's a kutzall
Hey man just curious if it is a necessity to have a mask? Like I wear a bandana over my mouth and nose but half the time I forget anyway lol.. keep the content coming buddy you’ve helped me threw quite the battle and I thank you for ever second of the wisdom! Cheers from Ontario
I say yes 100% a mask u don't want ur lungs filling up with sawdust and thank you keep at it

Wow, I would show you mine. But I don't want to embarrass you because you've done such a nice job on the one you've done.
Lol embarrassed? Lol hahaha I carve this in 29 min, how could you embarrass me

I PROMISE YOU, ITS VERY EASY. 😆 🤣 😂 😆 🤣 , THE DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY IS HUGE. AND ALL I DID WAS CLEAN A NON CRACKED PIECE OF WOOD,
NATURE BEATS YOU OUT EVERY TIME.
BESIDES, WHO WANTS TO KEEP SEEING THE OLD GUY. IVE SEEN THIS FOR 50 YEARS NOW. CANT YOU ACTUALLY CARVE?
HELL. I CARVED A SEED THAT WAS BETTER THEN YOUR LUMBER FOR A BIG MAN.
AH HA HA HA hA HA HA 😆 THAT'S FRIKIN FUNNY. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣LOL,LOL,LOL,🤣🤣🤣🤪
They teach this to toddlers as a past time for sucking the tit, ah ha ha ha ha.
They want me to teach carving in the CALIFORNIA CARVERS GUILD BUT YOUR BETTRR IN 29 MINUTES. ????

Hi. Just wonderin' what the name of yer mask is. TY
Trend airshield pro
Nice jordy put a crystal on top magic 👌👌👌
Good idea
Looks wicked bro 🥰 I need to do a few of these for sure.... Hope all is good in your world bro 🤟
I was making a short spear handle out of walnut and 3 pieces exotic wood I've had for 30 years and after sanding, my skin broke out with rashes. Some wood dust is real toxic. FYI. Nice dust mask you have.
Thank u
Great carve jordy what a time saving idea with the grinder .have a quick question have you ever carved cherry wood I just got a small pice Carry on good sir
Thank you , yes I have carved cheery and I'd say it was about the same hardness as the Arbutus I just did
@@CarvingFusion thanks jordy that's a big help before I get started on it much appreciated
Hey Jordy ya might’ve just given me an idea about a problem I’ve been having;
I’m lookin to get away from sitting there forever carving away 2.5 inches of top layer of hard wood on a relief carving with an extreme burr. Takes frickin forever and those dang cutting wheels just scare me too much.
Would that mampa cutter maybe fit the bill?
Manpa cutter is good as Long as u have your piece of wood in a vise or secured yup , but I just showed how well a 36 grit sanding disk works too
Thank ya, Jordy!
Fantastic
Thank you
You did not specify the GRINDING WHEEL.... Could you please link to it? - It always helps us if you link SPECIFICALLY to the items you use for these carvings. Thanks
36 grit sanding disk
Great vid! What is that accent ? Sounds like a South Eastern Ireland accent!! Are you in the St.Johns area?? Tom.
Hey Tom I am I'm bc canada born and raised here, but my step father my whole life and brothers are from belfast
Awesome
Wow bro that was awesome!! I'm just learning myself and your video has given me more ideas and confidence! Keep doing what you're doing.
Good video, I enjoyed it. !!
:) ty
Luv it but if your floor catches fire I hope you can run fast!
Me over here with a camp blade scraping bark 😂😂😂😂
Lol
If I could RATE your wood carving videos a 10/10 would be tooooo low!!
Jordy can you you do a video on how you came across doing the 'WOOD SPIRIT" and what made you continue with this concept in many of your wood projects including your amazing BIRD HOUSES?
Sure will
I googled Mappa tools? Nothing. Did I hear Mappa?
Manpa
I use a knife to remove the bark. Keep it real. Really hurts my arthritic wrists!
Then better to use power, it's just as real as knife
I hope you never have a fire in that shop !!!! Just saying !!!! 😵💫
Knock on wood
fuckin brill
Awesome
Thank you
