Hi, I really like your design. Thank you for creating this video. I was able to build one and this is my first project. I sent you the pictures. The only issue I had was with gopuram. It was very painful to get it close to what you have. I read through all the comments and some of them faced exactly the same set of issues I did. Cutting the crown molding with 7 1/4 miter was not easy and in your video it was kept an angle which I was unable to do with my 7 1/4 miter saw. After lot of research, I set the bevel angle at 33.9 and miter angle at 31.6 but the issue with that was the angle was super steep and it came out flat at the top and it did not have enough depth at the top to hold finials with out edges popping out.
Awesome work! Thank you so much for sharing detailed information. Much appreciated. With your help, I am able to do it. Can't say thank you enough! 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for capturing this amazing diy video. With your inspiration I am building one too.Could you please let me know at what angle you are cutting the moulding for the gopuram. I am trying to fit the corners of the gopurum and looking for the angle to cut it.
in the base cabinet you made pocket holes on both sides but seems like you used only the bottom ones, not the top pocket holes ? At 1:34 sec I see that you are drilling and screwing vs using pocket holes ? Trying to determine if I need to make pocket holes on both sides ?
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing. We started this project prior to finding this video and was stuck on the gopuram piece. This video helped to solve it. In Canada homdepot and lowes discontinued the 4inch accent you had used. So going to try with the 2 and half. Fingers crossed.
Glad the video was helpful. Yes I came to know that the crownmolding is not available in Canada through another viewer who was able to use different type of molding and complete the mandir. Good luck with the project. You can email me at diyaddict2016@gmail.com if you have any questions.

What i did is cut small pieces of the trim and then arrange them with out glue and do the necessary adjustments. This might result in wastage but will accomplish the work needed.
Hi, I have cut the gopuram crown moldings at 45 degree angle using Miter box but the two ends are not joining properly and there is gap. If I lay them flat they join fine? Any suggestions why this is happening?
My guess would be that you have cut the 45 degrees on crown molding with different inclination that what you intend to on the gopuram. Please search for 'crown molding miter box' in youtube and you can get it easily. I would ask you to not put the crown upside down like they say in the video for the cut.
DIY - Do It Yourway What should be the inclination? and how to set the inclination angle on the miter box? So the cut angle is 45 degrees but the inclination angle should be?
It is hard to tell the inclination angle as it all depends on the space you have on the top. I used the default angle that comes with the crown molding (make sure the top and bottom stays flat with fence and the base). You can bring the bottom part closer to the miter fence if you have less space.
With great hope I started watching this video and sadly discovered that like most of the RUclips DIYs this DIY is also for the professional carpenters who has all the tools a home.
@@diy-doityourway3779 may be they do but I don't follow them or watch their video I watch your videos. So if you can show us some project with very minimum tools then we can be really inspired to do.
Depends on the bottom chest. For this particular one, the bottom chest is 36 inch wide and the material used is 3/4 inch plywood on both sides (3/4 + 3/4 = 1.5 inches). The drawer slides are 1/2 inch in thickness (we use 2 drawer slides so total 1 inch). So [36" - (1.5" + 1")] = 33.5" wide. So the sizes would come at 33.5" wide X 14" Deep + 3/4" height for Harathi Board and 33.5" wide X 14" Deep X 9" height for drawer. You can adjust the height of drawer front to cover the gap between Harathi board and Drawer. I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hi, I understand the harathi and drawer measurements but what is the measurements for front fram of harthi and drawer please. I want cut plywood in home depot. Thanks in advance.
It actually the same size as the trim you use as drawer front. In my case the width was 2.5inches for harathi board. The drawer front doesnt have to be accurate as long as it covers the front portion. In my case the width was 11.25 inches

Very nice wann to try but i dont have rhis big wood cutters, i never did anything, like this, do u have idea for small cutters? Wann try, and also wann ask how much u spent for this temple?

So you can definitely get this done with minimal tools but would take time and a bit of more effort. The list of materials and cost is linked in the video description.
Nicely done, this is the best DIY I have seen so far. Few Quick Questions: 1. What nail size did you use? 2. What type of nailer have you used for this project? 3. What glue did you use for this project?
Thank You.. I used 3/4 inch, 1 inch and 2 inch 18 guage brad nails based on trims i am using them on. I used Ryobi 18 guage cordless brad nailer. Titebond 3 or any wood glue will work.
Looks great but i see you have joined all boards with screws. Do you think this will stand if i just with do with wood glue with absolutely no nails/screws?
I would not recommend that as the pins are used to hold the trims together while the glue sets. If you do not use pin, then the trims will be left with a gap between them.
Hi.. When you screwed the top plate of bottom chest, you didn't seem to use the pot holes for the joint right? Can you tell me what kinda screws did you use there and if pre-drilling is necessary?
Hello.. I am so impressed with your work. You work like a professional. I watched your video repeatedly as I want to make two level gopuram. It would be really helpful if you can help me with the measurements of for the moulding. I am using the existing cabinet and the gopuram base is 36"x20". Almost same size size as yours. I have learned that HomeDepot/Lowes can do the cutting for you. Do you think it will be a good idea? OR If i get the MiterBox, can i do it myself?
Thanks for the kind words. Measurements depend on multiple factors like if you are using any trim on top before the actual gopuram starts, if so width of the trim etc. For example if you use a 2inch trim around on top, the length would be 26 inches (30 -2 -2) and width will be 16 inches(20-2-2) for first level. Homedepot/Lowes does the cutting but they do only straight cuts and wont do cuts for a specific project. So I would recommend getting a cheap miter saw or a miter box and hand saw so you can make the cuts per your build.
@@diy-doityourway3779 Hi.. Happy New Year. I greatly appreciate your response. Thank you very much. I have got the miter box. I will try to cut it myself. One more question, if you don't mind. what should be the measurement of the supports that you put inside?
Great work sir....I been finding a good video like yours to start building one....could you tell me how many hrs it took you to build and what are the blindspots you encountered for an experienced DIYer like you
The important and time taking part of the build is gopuram. I would say to guy atleast 1/3rd extra material if you are doing this first time. The rest is very straight forward. Good luck
The angle depends on the amount of space you have on the top. I use the default angle of 45 degrees. But you can increase the inclination depending on your requirements.
I did not use any bevel cut. I use a 45 degree miter cut. But the key here is to draw a temporary line on miter saw while cutting the crown molding and use the same line as guide for all the crown molding cuts. This will ensure tight corners.
DIY - Do It Yourway Thanks. I had another question regarding the polyurethane. I see you used spray. I also found a 1 quart can in Lowe’s. www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-Fast-Drying-Polyurethane-Gloss-Oil-Based-32-fl-oz-Polyurethane/999913661. This is my first time staining so which one would be easy to use? Spray or the can?

Great work. Could you please share all the material required. I am inspired by you. I want to Pooja mandir for our home too.
Thank You. All materials and link are in the Google doc mentioned in video description. Good luck with your project.
Good luck
Can you tell me what’s the angle of the moulding did you use for the top ?
The angle depends on the amount of space you have on the top. I use the default angle of 45 degrees. But you can increase the inclination depending on your requirements.
DIY - Do It Yourway did you use any Bevel cut for moulding ?
I did not use any bevel cut. I use a 45 degree miter cut. But the key here is to draw a temporary line on miter saw while cutting the crown molding and use the same line as guide for all the crown molding cuts. This will ensure tight corners.
DIY - Do It Yourway sounds good thank you for the information
Also what kind of brush did you use for applying the stain ?
I did not use brush. Sponge or a soft cloth would do it for stain.
DIY - Do It Yourway Thanks. I had another question regarding the polyurethane. I see you used spray. I also found a 1 quart can in Lowe’s. www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-Fast-Drying-Polyurethane-Gloss-Oil-Based-32-fl-oz-Polyurethane/999913661. This is my first time staining so which one would be easy to use? Spray or the can?
I used both methods but felt sprayer is better. That's my personal opinion though.
Awesome, how much did it cost for all the products to build. Is this from Home Depot
Hi Sir,
The video looks Great!!! I have zero experience with tools. Please can you share a spread sheet of all the tools which you used in the video and do suggest if I need to get anything extra since I am a beginner.
I had the same question.. Waiting for the reply!
