    Anyone who cannot stand the sound of a two-stroke sport bike wasn't a MotoGP fan in the days of the 125/250/500 classes. When I owned an Aprilia RS250 I was transformed into Valentino Rossi during his 250 days. (in my head anyway...)
    If I went back from litre bike ownership, I'd have the RS250 over a 600cc 4-stroke any day of the week.

    • @chrisredfield3240
      @chrisredfield3240 6 лет назад

      A jebote as 12hp or 15hp the maintenance would be fine. 25k before a rebuild maybe longer, at 30-34hp you would be looking at piston rings around 6k and thinking about rebore + .25mm each time a new piston, at some point a new barrel or re sleeve. And even a crankshaft bearing at some point. I have a sx50 6.5hp (30mph ish) will de-ristrict at 17 to have 12hp save buying a 125cc will be classed as a scooter as not classed as a motorcycle as is under 50cc insurance will be informed.

    Approach this from a Teenagers viewpoint at 17 you can't get a bigger cc than a 125 until 19 so performance wise the Aprillia is unbeatable compared to a 4 stroke 125cc supersport however for reliability the ktm any day, I have owned an Rs and yes it had 2 top end rebuilds and a bottom end rebuild however every mile was adrenaline fueled compared to now with a 4 stroke struggling to get up the hill :)

    How often does a 2 stroke like that RS125 need an engine rebuild.

    • @davidduncan4092
      @davidduncan4092 9 лет назад

      2010morra the rs 125 is cheap to rebuild, full engine rebuild cost me £250 with parts and labour from a specialist rs 125 breaker. done 6k miles since then with no problems

    • @2010morra
      @2010morra 9 лет назад

      Aw right. Just because I looked at about 20 - 30 bikes before I bought a 4 stroke because lots of the 2 stroke ads mentioned either the bikes just had a rebuild or needs one soon so I thought I could do without the hassle.

      new seals, gaskets, balanced crankshaft, new bearings. the guy that did mine just charged labour and i supplied the parts.

      Every 15000-20000 Km, as long as it’s maintained properly it shouldn’t have any other trouble. They’re very well built.
