One thing for sure is that you are the best possible loving carer for her. I dread to think what happens to other pigs in her situation with owners who are not prepared to put in such hard work to ensure their recovery. I think Pepper doesn't want to be in the pregnant pig prison, she wants to lie in the sun, but you are right, it won't be so good when it rains. The ramshackle pig house was soooo much better as it lets the light in and it doesn't feel like a prison Yet it still has a cover to keep the rain off and even give a bit of shade. Pigs are very smart creatures and they know what the like. I notice she went away in the night from the makeshift shelter but came back to it as she liked it a bit and it was a good shelter when it's raining. I think the pigs want to make their own nest or at least part of it. Then they know they have been doing what they should have been doing for their babies.
You are so right, they know exactly what they want and we let them tell us..most of the time . I have watched as Peppa adds some branches and bushes into the new ramshackle pighouse just to give it her own little touch just like Maggie did to the piggie palace😁
Another boil egg trick. Place eggs in pot with warm water, bring to boil for minute, take pot with eggs still on water off stove, put lid on and allow to cool in pot. Shells peel off easy.
Ooh, OK - egg peeling tips and tricks! Here's my method: boil egg to required softness, take pan off the heat and tip out all hot water but keep the eggs in the saucepan. Immediately douche them in fast running cold water for 30 seconds. That will a) cool the shells right down for easy handling, and b) separate the shell from the egg inside making peeling extremely easy. Nick's trick allows the air at the blunt end of the egg (there is *always* a small pocket of air in an egg) to expand and escape through the crack without further cracking of the shell. It allows the pressure to escape. That means you can put your eggs in to already boiling water without the shells immediately cracking and leaking egg white - that near ruins a boiled egg in my opinion. Give it 3 mins for a perfect egg ... You can buy a gadget that pierces a perfect pinhole into the end of the egg, if you really want to. Some people put a teaspoonful of vinegar in the water which quickly solidifies the egg white should it leak.

I'm very impressed with Luke's very hard work! 5 days of hard manual graft for long hours is never easy. I think I would consider "removing" a piglet every couple of days for Maggie's sake - three less will help a lot. I'm sure you have looked in to methods of doing so ethically. I notice strong winds on the Ridge line there. .. in my country, we would clear a 30 metre boundary line, then leave natural bush to hold the soil in heavy rain, and also be a wind break.
